9/20/15 Bills first half game day thread

Even though there was no flag. Williams can't make that hit after the play. In today's NFL you could see that called. -

I've seen them double him quite a bit, but he to do more when one-on-one. Kyle is the main one bringing pressure up the middle right now. -

At some point the refs need to let both teams play. This is becoming almost unwatchable because of the refs. -

That touchdown was huge. Really think that they need to tie it up before half though. -

And they've gained the yardage back in 4 plays. No reason to not go for it there. With the exception of the first drive and the turnover the bills haven't stopped the Pats. -
Okay, so I just got home from work, and I want to clear some things up after reading all of the replies. 1.) Was it a bad idea to use the word "hater" in the title? Probably. To be honest, if the title accurately reflected the purpose of the topic, I would have went with "Why are people being overcritical of Kyle Orton's performances?", but that was too wordy. So, I went with hater, which according to urban dictionary is: "a person that simply cannot be happy for another person's success. So rather than be happy they make a point of exposing a flaw in that person." I think that it fits perfectly, and I hope that things clears up on that end. 2.) I never meant this to be an EJ vs Orton thread, hence why I did not once mention EJ in my post. So for those who act like I'm pitting Orton against EJ - you couldn't be more wrong. 3.) Many of the posts actually summed up the reason why I created the topic, which is that I believe people are being overly critical of Orton because he is Kyle Orton. I saw countless replies stating that "he is what I thought he was" or "he shows why he's a journeyman", and that was why I started this topic. And that is, if Kyle Orton had played the way he's been playing these past 3 weeks for a sustained period while at Chicago or Denver, then he never would have been let go or traded. I guess I just can't stand the, "well, he was average before, so he'll always be average" logic. In addition to Fred Jackson, I can name you probably 30 players who were cut by multiple teams early in their career or never given a chance, who then went on to become pro-bowl caliber players. Past performance is not indicative of future results, so commenting on a player's past is irrelevant to the conversation.

I've been seeing/hearing a lot of Kyle Orton hating, both on this forum and on WGR, and I'm curious as to where all of the hate is coming from. Over the past three weeks, Orton has averaged 297 yards, 1.66 TDs, and 1 INT per game. If you extrapolate his numbers over an entire 16 game season, he would finish with 4,750 yards, 27 TDs and 16 INT. So, with that being said, I don't get how anyone can say that he's even been average. Honestly, Orton has performed like a borderline top 10 QB over the past 3 weeks, and he's done this while being with the team for less than 2 months. Over the past three weeks, Orton has put up those numbers with terrible o-line play, and no running game to speak of. And then to top it off, he's done all of this against three top 10 pass defenses (based on YPG, 2 top 10 defenses if you go by passer rating against). Also, in regard to his turnovers, he's on pace for 16 INTs. Romo, Luck, both Mannings, Roethlisberger, Stafford, Rivers and Brees have all had 18+ INT seasons. So, does that mean that they're all average QBs? Oh, and not to mention, the Bills are 2-1 under Orton, and in both games he played some of his best football when it mattered the most to lead the Bills to wins. So, lets hear it, why should I be underwhelmed with Orton's performances over the past three weeks?

Does Duke Williams deserve his own thread?
DaBills51 replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The fact that he was jogging while the ball was in the air is inexcusable. His saving grace may be that he has been solid on special teams, other than that, his play on that TD is a borderline cut-able offence. -

The Bills have shown that they're extremely vulnerable through the air this season. Even though the Bills have shown the ability to get pressure with a 4 man rush, Schwartz may need to start dialing up some blitzes to cover for the secondary with quick pressure. -

Did anyone else see Duke Williams just jogging on that?? He needs to be a healthy inactive next week. -

Honestly the persistent negativity on this board is a joke. Last week 90% of you gave up when the Bills were down 14-0. And then this game each time the Pats do something everyone goes into sky is falling mode. Great fans... -

At what point do fans say enough is enough and challenge the NFL to completely revamp the way games are officiated? Why not have a team of 5-10 people in a booth assigned to each game, and then each person has a specific responsibility. I.e. two people watch the line, and then have a person assigned for each eligible receiver.Just need a couple more cameras similar to the all-22. -

Two things: 1) Gronk fooled the ref into thinking Williams barred his left arm on that play. 2) Why do NFL refs blow plays dead like that? Sure it was the right call but if it wasn't you take away the possibility for a huge play.
