  1. If we have the opportunity and pass on Clausen everyone will be crying 2 or 3 years from now about how our idiot FO screwed up by not drafting him. Write it down, take a picture, frame it, delete it, whatever, but watch what I tell you.

Couldn't have said it better that myself. Just look at your avatar and imagine that in the endzone of the Ralph. (Let's hope he's doing that in a Bills uniform and not to us)

  2. If this is 100% accurate, then I really hope that Clausen is taken before us, or is a bust. I couldn't stomach the fact that the Bills would pass up a QB who went on to have great success...

I'm with you man if he's there and we don't take him I'm gonna have problems. We need a quarterback thats firey and has a set. This kid is it. I will break something in my house if this happens.

  3. I think if Jimmy Clausen is taken by Seattle or Washington, we need to trade down into the late first round and try to pick up a 2d.

I really think T. Cody is going to be one of the studs of this draft. The film does not lie.

I also know we need a QB, and no one else is really going to be worth a pick at #9.

Why take the 3rd or 4th best tackle in the draft at #9?

I completely agree. If the trade partner is there we may as well stockpile picks. We're not winning the Super Bowl next year.

  4. The other knock on Carter is his penalties--usually unsportsmanlike. Awesome tats, and eye black on game day. A little swagger for the Bills, if you're willing to get a 15 yarder now and then.

Let's get him. This team needs someone with a little attitude. I don't care about an aggressive penalty now and then if it means we show some damn emotion. Kids looks fired up for pre-game.

  5. It would only be worse if Marhsawn Lynch and Ko Simpson flew in and there was a Gun Show, Police Convention and a High Times Conference in town.

Shouldn't Maybin be learning how to run side line to side line as a newly transitioned Line Backer?

Actually on second thought he could learn how to run sideline to sideline from McNewknee. If that is the case continue on Maybin I give you credit for innovative training methods.

    That is some funny stuff.

  6. Clausen improved every year, in every statistical category. He can make every throw under the sun. Deep outs, deep ball, touch passes, and has the arm strength to rifle the ball into a small window if needed. The guy is tough and plays through injuries, having a turf toe on his "plant" foot from the 2nd game on through the whole season. Every time he dropped back he had to plant on that foot first before stepping up to throw. He is calm under pressure as evidenced by his 7 late 4th quarter drives that could've given ND victories this past year, the defense gave up 3 of those games. Look at the numbers he put up without a solid rushing attack or even a top 50 line to OL to play behind. You knew ND was going to throw the ball game in and game out, but they still couldn't stop Clausen from putting up the numbers he did. People keep saying he wasn't liked by his teammates. That's horse manure. Golden Tate was interviewed and applauded Clausen for his leadership abilities and said that the guys were always on Jimmy's side. Is he a little cocky? I don't know him personally so I can't say. But even if he is, aren't we tired of having a bunch of passive pansy QB's around here anyway? Wouldn't you want a guy who shows passion for the game and is confident in his abilities? I don't know about ythe rest of you guys or what you're looking for in a QB, but I'd probably be one of the first in line to buy a #7 Bills jersey with Clausen on the back because I truly believe he's going to be a good NFL QB.

Save me a spot in line because I would be right behind you. If he's there we have to take him.

  7. That's crap. King is highly respected, and absolutely everyone was going nuts over Edwards at that point.

You said it before I could. Everyone was calling him the future at that point. Don't blame it on King but you can chalk it up to a ****ty o-line. Edwards may still have something.

  8. Nothing like shooting for mediocrity in the most cruicial position in football ! If we're lucky we'll get another Trent Edwards...LOL !! <_< Seriously, you can get lucky and pick a future Pro Bowl QB & Hall of famer in the third round with extreme luck! But, I would think the odds are that you are going to pick up the majority of your superstars in the first round ....the Peyton Mannings...of course for arguements sake which are sure to follow....you can find a player like Tom Brady later in the draft every so often...But just going on odds we need to give ourselves the best opportunity and draft a QB at the top of the draft (yes...1st round..) and then somehow trade back into the first round..(maybe trade our 2nd and M. Lynch & Roscoe Parrish) to get back into the first round and select one the many talented OT's that are in the draft this year. Don't think that can't be done as the Bills have moved back into the 1st round before...and N.England does it all the time and have 2 picks in the 1st round this year as well ! Then we need to get a solid NT in the 3rd...or trade back into the 2nd for a NT! It can be done..but it takes guts, shrewdness, and something we have been lacking in as an organization: Football Knowledge!!! Back to the issue at hand though is get your QB....in the draft, and I would pick up a FA QB (Best of what's left)...and keep the one QB that currently remains with the most upside! (Hopefully not T.Edwards)..I know it's a gamble but it's much better than not taking the risk and having the potential of reward! So many times D. Jauron punted with just a few minutes left and down by 9 points! Yeah, you can get the ball back possibly...maybe get a T.D. if your lucky...try an on-sides kick...and miracles could happen....or you do a Rex Ryan and go for it on 4th & 2 and be aggressive! That is another thing this organization has been lacking is aggressiveness! Be the first team to target and attempt to acquire some of the free agents, aggresively pursue trades in the draft, make things happen! Show everyone

you are going all out....Don't do what you did with the coaching charade and drag things on and lose all your opportunites

in the end and settle for little known football people that coached at the second best college in Gerorgia! Like Rocky said

"Go for it" ! and then go for it! get the best QB, best L OT you can, best FA's available, and get rid of bad attitude players or troublemakers like M. Lynch! Lots of ideas here...Some will be popular and I will get scorched for some of my ideas, but the main thing is we need to strive to be the best and get the best General (QB) into our organization! It would be nice to be proud of the Bills again and be able to remove the negative shadow of our team and community! :P

I like your ideas and this scenario in particualar. I would love to see this happen.

  9. Unless there really is a concerted effort going on by the front office to reduce payroll, I don't see any reason to get rid of Edwards before he has a chance to earn the starting job in training camp. Early on, Edwards showed that he had the ability to play very well. At this point I have basically no faith that he's going to be able to get his mojo back, but I don't see any reason to deny him the opportunity.

I'm with you guys. One last shot with a very short leash.

  10. This team is rebuilding, even if nobody will say the words. We WILL be bad next year.

In that situation, we'll take Clausen, I bet. You should never pass on a franchise QB unless you have one, and Clausen is one.

I don't think the first 8 picks will be as predictable as you think, but good job anyway.

God please let Clausen fall to us and if he does don't let us be dumb enough to pass him up.

  11. Ok Bills fans, we have heard all the whining and crying about our team.

Let's move forward and get this team fixed and the guys that are now in control are going to do just that, pay attention here is how it will happen in 10 easy steps

    1. Sign best available OT in free agency

    2. Draft best available OT in 1st round

    3. Sign best available NT or DT in free agency

    4. Teach Trent Edwards how to read defenses and protect the ball , Coach Gailey's very good at this.

    5. Moving Maybin to OLB in 3-4, with Poz & Mitchell on inside, need 1 other ball hawk, watch for kid from Georgia Tech

    6. Sign a decent WR in Free agency, several out there

    7. Get in Marshawn's head and teach him how to act like a Pro athlete

    8. Draft Tebow late 3rd or 4th if he there, will be a good Pro QB with some coaching (Gailey's specialty)

With the existing Offensive line players (resign Incognito) and these additions, and a coach that can teach Trent, you will see a lot of improvement, with these additions the defense will also improve, with a few things here and there, this team can improve quickly, it may take a few years to get to the Super Bowl but they will get there.....Mark it Down!

    I agree. All good points.

  12. I think the Bills should seriously consider moving the #9 pick for a proven commodity. Before we talk about how valuable a top 10/first round pick is, lets look at 10 Bills drafts, skipping over 08 and 09 because its too early to tell (I am including the Parrish pick in 05 bc it was essential our top pick that year, having traded away our 05 first a full year in advance, which allowed us to focus on that pick being our first in that draft)

    2000 Erik Flowers

    2001 Nate Clements

    2002 Mike Williams

    2003 Willis McGahee

    2004 Lee Evans

    2004 J.P. Losman

2005 No 1st Round Pick, Roscoe Parrish (2nd Round)

    2006 Donte Whitner

    2006 John McCargo

    2007 Marshawn Lynch

Now to quatify that with a % success rate, I am going to use a simple grading system. A 1 will equal a good pick with good value and production from that player relative to their draft position. a 1/2 with equal a decent player with decent production relative to their draft position. A 0 [zero] will basically be a bust, or someone who has disappointed relative to draft position. This scale will result in any average over 50% as above average. I will be very gracious with my ranking too.

2000 Erik Flowers: Zero - complete bust. Started 5 games before being benched, only last 2 years before being cut.

2001 Nate Clements 1 - one of the better corners to hit FA when the Bills didnt resign him. Played 6 years for the Bills.

2002 Mike Williams: Zero -Complete Bust. Never played LT and was out of the league a few years later.

2003 Willis McGahee: 1/2 - missed entire rookie year. Played well when he was in. Would be a zero if his trade did not bring in 2 third round picks

2004 Lee Evans: 1/2 - One of the better players on the team but a WR taken 13th overall should be more productive regardless of who is throwing him the ball. Labeled a 1 trick pony.

2004 J.P. Losman: Zero- banished to the UFL after his rookie contract expired.

2005 No 1st Round Pick, Roscoe Parrish (2nd Round): Zero - never more thana Punt returner. Bills needed more value with this pick.

2006 Donte Whitner: Zero: 8th overall pick gets beaten out by UDFA and former WR for starting job. Being a top 10 pick=Zero

2006 John McCargo: Zero - no explanation needed.

2007 Marshawn Lynch 1/2 - Made the PB and is a good back, but was beaten out by UDFA and D3 Jackson. If he is traded with little return this will drop to a zero.

    To add the figures:

    0+1+0+1/2+1/2+0+0+0+0+1/2=2.5

    2.5/10=.25 = 25% success rate.

25% As we can see, a top 10/first pick is not valuable to a Bills organization that simply can not draft well early on. Now I realize Nix is in the house now, but he was there last year too, and Maybin was the Bills selection. Maybin has not shown anything in his rookie year that can make anyone think the Bills have righted the ship.

Now considering it is feasible that the Bills could trade away that pick for say, Wilfork or McNiel, I would be all for doing it. Lets be honest here, the only player I gave a 1 to in my rankings - which I feel are very accurate - is Clements, who spent only 6 years with the team. Only 2 or 3 of those years was he very dominant. We could be getting guys who are entering the prime of their careers in Wilfork/McNiel, who could easily pend 6 years in Buffalo dominating, and not unknown rookies who need to be taught the game and have little chance of succeeding, who will then likely leave via FA.

We are going to draft a T/NT most likely anyways with taht #9 overall. I say dont risk drafting another colossal bust. Save the top 10 pick money, dont risk taking a rookie, and divert the money into a big contract for Wilfork/McNiel by trading the pick away.

    That shi$ is depressing.

  13. the rumor came out 2 years ago that it was the way it was going down...Kelly's talked pretty confident that the Bills would stay so it makes it seem likely. The only wild card I see in the mix is how long Kelly's major backer holds onto his interest in doing this...until it happens, though...we need to keep supporting the team...if we start having blackouts, that could cause Kelly's backer to lose interest in the project

I with you brother. I will always support this team. That's what we need to do. It will get better but if we give up on them we could lose them.

  14. sorry to disappoint, but the Bills have a plan in place to keep them in Buffalo

as far as Ralph selling it, he'd be foolish to do so...a double hit on taxes

Only smart thing to do is leave the team to Mary (spouse won't have to pay an estate tax) and then she sells the team to Kelly's group..which is exactly what will happen

Philster, my god I hope you are right.

  15. You really consider any one of those guys "serviceable"?!?!

The Bills have really only had aONE top flight QB since the merger, JIM KELLY. A first rounder. They have only chosen 2 first round QB's in that time. Kelly and Losman. QB, more than ever, is the MOST IMPORTANT PLAYER ON A TEAM. Maybe if the Bills had chosen more 1st round QB's through the years, we might not have had to sit through all the embarrassing seasons. They missed ONCE with a 1st rd. QB, but with the other pick it was "GLORY DAYS".

Once you have "the guy" he should be around for 10 years or so, plenty of time to build up a line. They have failed with SO MANY 1st picks, that I don't see why anyone thinks it would be a catastrophe if they miss again. You gotta have one.

For the 1000th time, if a guy is worthy, it's still going to take a few years before a QB is going to be seasoned enough to win regularly. You can fix the other stuff while the QB sits a year, etc. Get a QB in here as soon as possible. Even if they spend a first pick on a quarterback THIS YEAR, we are still likely gonna have to sit through watching one of those "serviceable" QB's this coming season. Then the next year the guy gets it together, THEN the next season, IF WE"RE LUCKY, he will get into the playoffs. That's 2 more drafts and free agencies before the team needs to be a "complete" team.

Pick 7 QB's! I don't care, they are going NOWHERE without a good QB, don't try to tell me they need a Nose Tackle more than they need a Quarterback!

Amen to that. Get me Clausen! The kid has fire

  16. 1. Trade a 2nd rounder and Donte Shitner to the eagles for McNabb. (shitner can reunite with his bff jauron....the eagles need secondary help......and they will get it alright.....jauron will be sure to tell them how versitile he is)

    2. Trade down to the late teens and aquire a 2nd round pick.

    3. Draft the best OT, hopefully Baluga will be there.

    4. Draft Terrance Codys Fat-Ass to clog up the middle like he did the dorm room toilets. (He is consistent at clogging)

Automatic passing game.....the o-line is upgraded......run stopping DT

I like your idea. You make 4 good points. I just hope Cody can shed some of those breasts.

  17. In all fairness the guy has never got a chance to prove himself. Of course we can't anoint him starter. But let him compete with other guys. Give him a fair chance is all I'm saying. Lets work on the O-line and the new D scheme. we got too many holes to plug. There don't seem to be any FA QB's worth giving picks away for. Since we're a rebuilding team might as well work with what we have got QB wise until we're able to get a sure fire starter.

    Just my $0.02

Are you serious? Have you ever seen him play? You are talking about Hamdan right?

  18. I love Clausen as well, but it is my opinion that he is going to be available at number 9 if we want him. I think Washington goes Bradford or Okung. The wildcard is the Seahawks...They could go QB, but I think they'll go OT or defense. I don't see CLE or OAK taking a QB, and we're next.

I doubt he's there at 9. Were going to have to make a move is Clausen is wearing a BILLS uniform this year. We cant give the farm away but we need to get him. We cant have these candy ass QB's anymore.
