  1. 1. Defensive improvement namely at the safety position 2. Bring back Tyrod and have a healthy Watkins 3. Not allow a 200 yard rusher during the year 4. Have 11 men on the field for every play. 5. Find another receiving threat on offense (WR or 2nd TE to pair with Clay) 6. Stay Healthy
  2. He was what he is a middling qb. He wasn't playing well at all. Before the 3 game skid that led to his benching he had 11 tds to 8 ints. He had 2 games completing less than 40% of his passes and this was before his last 3 games where he went for 1 td and 5 ints. He finished the year at 13 tds and 12 ints. If Tyrod proved this year to not be the answer then these numbers absolutely show Hoyer isn't the answer to any question. Tim Tebow led a team to the playoffs and won a game. That 10-6 is slightly misleading. He gets credit for the Bills game as a w where he went 2-4 before being knocked out of the game. Between the 2 years he went for 18 tds and 16 tds. I know by reading your last part that you aren't advocating that he is better than Tyrod so I'm not targeting you. I just don't want Hoyer anywhere near this team. I would turn into Ryan/Maj when it came to discussing Hoyer.
  3. I would keep Tyrod for 2-3 years. Worst case is Watson and Tyrod don't develop further. Best case you trade one of them after they both show out. Again having 20 million of cap space allocated to the qb position isn't crazy money. According to this it would put the Bills about 13th in allocated money to the position.
  4. I know Bloke came back to discuss this but it really doesn't get much worse than WalterFootball. Seriously. I would dig up info to make them look bad but I would have to give them page hits to do so. As to Watson I couldn't help but see Tyrod in him. A scenario that crossed my mind.... How about picking up the option on Tyrod AND drafting Watson. Let there be a competition. It would tie up about 20 million in salary cap to the QB position which wouldn't be outrageous and let the best man win. If Tyrod wins out then Watson sits and learns. If Watson wins out we have a backup with a similar style. Tyrod sticks around for 3 years and then Watson gets his extension. If Tyrod progresses then the Bills have a good problem.
  5. Quick personal anecdote: I worked for a local ARC which works with developmentally disabled adults. "The R Word" was worse than the f word or any other curse. I still cringe when I see it expecting people to come out of the woodwork to shout someone down. I used to love Walter Football. Then I realized he has no idea what he is talking about. He is no better than a poster here. I cringe all the time when people parrot them. On top of it all he hates the Bills and every move they make.
  6. I'm not arguing against him as a HC I'm just saying there are warts present with him that could be making the Bills leary. I'm staying out of the discussion of who should be HC. BOB had me excited when their were rumors of him getting fired but that is about it. At this point I am in wait and see mode with whomever they hire. I just hope it is a good one
  7. I agree and was sad to see him go. I know he is an ass but he was a pretty good fb cooach. It is his dream job!
  8. Both the Redskins and the Browns situations were flash in the pans. The Skins were 3-6 before going on a tear and Hoyer completed 55% of his passes with 12 tds and 13 ints. Shanahan may end up being a great HC but there are certainly reasons to be weary of him. As to the DC I pulled something together last week that showed 6 of the top 10 offenses and the top 4 overall by DVOA offenses were led by a defensive minded HC. The Bills need to hire a good HC. Not a good OC/DC.
  9. Just last year every Atlanta fan wanted Shanahan fired, Browns fans weren't sad to see him go when he left, and was a disaster in Washington. Good for him for this year but 1 great year shouldn't erase all of the other red flags. He may be a great HC but he has had a lot of bad with his good. As for Bevell it is strange that he doesn't seem to get much play from any team really. With Carroll being a defensive guy Bevell should get all the credit for the Seattle O but it looks like another coaching season gone and I haven't heard his name linked to anything really.
  10. I was speaking to this earlier. I think that the Bills failure in developing a QB has led the fans to have no idea what they are looking at. They have no idea what a young qb finding his way looks like. They are unfamiliar with the ups and downs that go along with the position. Lastly they don't watch enough other football to see what it looks like with other teams. People want: Carson Wentz a guy who had less tds throwing, a lower ypa, more ints, less total tds, and a lower qb rating or a Blake Bortles - less TDS, lower ypa, worse comp %, more ints because they don't watch them every week and see the faults they see in Tyrod they watch HIGHLIGHTS!
  11. I border on the JfH level of optimism. This last week has been less than inspiring to say the least. The Lynn presser was bad, The NYJ game was brutal, the Whaley presser was a sh*t show regardless of who you think is to blame, and now news of cutting the best qb in 15 years. I'm not liking anything that has come from OBD recently. This has not been the best week for the Bills....
  12. Denver is my predicted landing spot for him somewhere in that neighborhood. Even if it isn't Denver after watching Fitz get $12 million and Brock get $18 is it really a stretch to say Tyrod will get somewhere in that neighborhood? You are so right. I mean seriously look at Russel Wilson he has missed 0 games in his career due to injury! What you need is someone like Big Ben. He's huge and hasn't missed a game since week 7! I mean he has played in all 16 games 3 out of 13 seasons in the NFL compare that to Russell who has only done it 4 times in 4 years in the league!
  13. Yes I absolutely think Tyrod will sign for more than 2 years and more than 27.5 million guaranteed on the open market.
  14. 7-9,8-8, and 9-7 is right on the brink of success though. Let me ask you this: Do we become a better team by improving the offense or the defense? Which unit this year let you down more? Which unit do you think performed at or above expectations and which was a let down? For me the answers are all defense.
  15. I really couldn't disagree more. Fix the defense and we win those important games. In a do or die game against the fins the Bills put up 31 points that should have won the game. In a huge road game the Bills were leading 24-9 went 3 and out twice (yes it happens to other teams too) and came back on the field down 30-24. The Bills scored 30+ in 6 games in those 6 games they were 4-2. They scored 25+ in 10 games and were 5-5 that is a huge indictment of the defense. The Chiefs are the 2 seed in the AFC and scored 25+ in 8 games and were 8-0. One side of the ball is handling their business and one side isn't. Even with the game 16 debacle the Bills still outscored the Chiefs this year.
  16. Dammit I wish I knew you were going to do the work so I didn't have too lol Seriously we are watching a young qb develop and he is doing well imo. I'm gonna be really sad if this comes to fruition...
  17. You weren't lying! Big Ben (5th and 6th years starting): 7812 yards, 7629 passing yards, 47 total tds, 43 passing tds, 27 ints, 90.3 qb rating, 63.25 comp % Tyrod: 7206 total yards, 6058 passing yards, 47 total tds, 37 passing tds, 12 ints, 94.5 rating, 62.7 comp % This includes a SB winning season for Big Ben. So over 2 years and 2 extra games Big Ben contributed 600 extra yards, the same amount of tds, 15 more ints, a worse qb rating and a comp % .5% better.
  18. Because not every QB is the same. As much as we all agree Big Ben is a great QB does anyone think he is better than Rodgers? Here are the numbers though: Rodgers: 8708 total yards, 8474 passing yards, 62 total tds, 58 passing tds, 20 ints, 98.5 rating, 64.15 comp % Tyrod: 7206 total yards, 6058 passing yards, 47 total tds, 37 passing tds, 12 ints, 94.5 rating, 62.7 comp % So Tyrod accounted for 1500 less yards total, 15 less tds total, 4 points lower in qb rating and less than 2% comp % difference than one of the 2 best qbs in the game. In 3 less starts and 261 less attempts (for reference Tyrod had 436 attempts this year so 236 is a little more than an extra half a season of attempts) I can't say those numbers really hurt my argument...
  19. So 1000 yards over 2 years means nothing? Or 2000 total yards. How about this one then (through 2 years): Tyrod: 7206 total yards, 6058 passing yards, 47 total tds, 37 passing tds, 12 ints, 94.5 rating, 62.7 comp % Russell Wilson: 7503 total yards, 6475 passing yards, 57 total tds, 52 passing tds, 19 ints, 100.6 rating, 63.6 comp% So over 2 years Russell Wilson (who everyone would love to have) has 300 more yards, 400 more passing yards, 10 more tds, and 7 more ints. Again I say, Bills fans have no idea what it is to watch a young qb develop.
  20. This is the only qb route that will have me excited for the start of next year barring a TT return. A rookie is going to have a huge learning curve and I doubt they would perform as well as Tyrod this year. I agree but most aren't listening I missed that but it is a relief to hear. Do you know where I could find that quote? Every QB needy team is hoping he gets cut. Tyrod will immediately be the #1 QB available if cut. Seriously go look at that list. Its a who's who of guys you don't want your team banking their season on. So Joe B's story yesterday about the Bills cryptic tweet was much ado about nothing? Color me surprised.
  21. Big Ben through 2 years: 5,219 total yards, 5006 passing yards, 38 total tds, 34 passing tds, 20 ints, 98.4 rating, 64.55 completion % Tyrod through 2 years starting: 7206 total yards, 6058 passing yards, 47 total tds, 37 passing tds, 12 ints, 94.5 rating, 62.7 comp % Bills fans have no idea what it is to watch a young qb grow. There will be ups and downs but when a guy compares favorably with someone like Big Ben or Russell Wilson through their first 2 years they should be worth holding onto. Seriously when was the last qb the Bills developed? Jim Kelly who started professionally for 2 years before coming to the Bills? I guess I can give that one. So 30 years ago Bills fans watched a qb grow. It's not all sunshine and roses while someone learns to play the position and there is a lot more good than bad with Tyrod. I really hope this isn't true.
  22. What I took from it (I think anyway): Teams should stop looking at coordinators with units that do well. A hire needs to be more big picture. Having or leading a unit that excels doesn't guarantee success. The HC needs to be a leader and a manager more than an x's and o's kind of guy. I won't say it hurts to excel at x and o as that would be dumb but maybe strategy isn't as important as leading. I think about a Coughlin who needed to change his demeanor before he became the 2 time sb winning coach, John Harbaugh who's highest position was a ST coordinator, Pete Carroll who is a master motivator and I see guys who have more than just a nice resume of coordinator success. Conversely there are your Norv Turners, Wade Phillips, etc... who are great coordinators but not great HCs. I think it is a different skill set. Who knows maybe I am just trying to talk myself into Lynn or another lesser known guy.
  23. Thanks. Had to edit it hope nobody saw anything before I fixed it! lol
