  1. I spent about 10 years working with children in psychiatric hospital. People motivated to kill themselves will be successful if given the opportunity. An investigation should be conducted as there was a death but I wouldn't leap to any conclusions other than he was staring life in prison in the face and decided not to continue on. A permanent solution to a permanent problem if you will. The timing isn't suspicious to me at all. If anything this wouldn't be a stretch where he was happy he beat the double murder rap then realized it didn't mean anything and he still would be in prison for the rest of his life. That low is something I could see being a low enough to kill himself. I have a friend who killed himself because a girl broke up with him and another because of money troubles. The reason doesn't have to be good enough to you or me just the person who commits the act. Right where I am at It isn't hard to hang yourself from anywhere that will obstruct your breathing. I walked in on a kid who was in the middle of attempting to hang himself and had rigged sheets up to his dresser and then he just kind of sat down. Your second post assumes that the person wants to live. My original post touched on this. People who want to kill themselves will find a way. The above mentioned kid was eerily peaceful as he hung before I grabbed him. It is something that still sticks with me today.
  2. Nope don't have to apologize for the WR unless you spent as much time whining about it as you have QB. What you have stated over and over and over and over (is that enough) is that the Bills have failed because they haven't tried. They have tried it just hasn't gotten the results. The thing is there are only 2 players you could even call misses in his time span and even they are fully proven yet. The other issue you beat is the Bills have to take a QB this year. You seem to think that just picking one and hoping it works is the best strategy. That is why I brought up all of the failures. I get it. You love Mahomes and anyone but TT. That doesn't mean that magically the QB you draft will be any good. It doesn't matter what your screen name says. The Bills have clearly done their diligence on this class and that is all we as fans can ask. Past that you wait and see if their valuations are correct. I don't doubt he had a say in the pick. The situation was unique in that it was probably the worst QB draft class ever and Buddy got taped on the phone so Fitz was no longer an option. The Bills HAD to take a QB. During the draft process everyone loved the way EJ carried himself. So they took their shot on the high character guy and missed. However people can't say Whaley hasn't tried to get a franchise qb or that the Bills should take their shot regardless of the result. Those 2 narratives don't fit with each other with regards to the EJ pick. You can push one or the other but there are posters (hint see the first quoted post) that try to push both to knock Whaley.
  3. This post is about Whaley not the Bills. You also can't just bemoan the hits without also taking into account the misses. You whine and cry about Carr but don't talk about the 3 guys taken above him that were wastes of a 1st rounder. Whaley has done quite a bit to try and address the QB position. He has brought in countless FA (off the top of my head TT, Leinhart, Kolb, etc..) made trades (Thad, Cassel,etc..), had a first rounder on the team, and drafted a guy last year. Whaley himself hasn't failed for lack of trying at the QB position. He has failed because they aren't there. My god when will you stop crying...
  4. What that post shows is there weren't guys available to the Bills when they drafted that turned out to be franchise guys. Maybe 2. Dak is a wait and see as well. The lack of QBs isn't a Bills specific issue it is a league wide issue save for a couple of teams. I know you are QB or bust guy but just because you are in love with a couple of guys doesn't mean they will be franchise guys. Drafting guys you don't think can be "the guy" is just as dumb of a strategy as purposely ignoring the position. You can't even say the Bills haven't done their homework this class or last as they had multiple guys in and meetings with all of the top guys. What will your excuse be when these guys come in and go Jared Goff, Paxton Lynch, Ej Manuel, Manziel, Bortles, or Bridgewater on the league? All of them were 1st round picks and haven't done jack. I agree wholeheartedly. None have proven to be a franchise guy but Carr and Dak have shown the most. That is why I used quotes around "franchise". So even being generous there are only 2 guys fans could bemoan. There are a whole bunch of misses though...
  5. "Franchise" QBs since 2013: 2013: None 2014: Derek Carr Round 2 pick 4. Bills picked Sammy at 4 and didn't pick until 41. Maybe in a trade down Carr is possible. 2015: Jameis and Mariota went 1&2. Bills had no chance at either of these guys 2016: Dak in the 4th and Maybe Wentz in the first. No chance at Wentz and Dak went to a perfect situation. So in conclusion Whaley missed on Carr and maybe Dak. It isn't as easy as just identifying you need one and getting one. There has to be one available to you.
  6. I know everyone wants to jump on the hate Whaley train but this article is terrible. It is a year to year ranking which is important to keep in mind. Here are some gems: Ozzie Newsome at 5. Ozzie has a reputation as one of the best GMs in the game and deservedly so. However the team no longer has Ray Lewis and they have made the playoffs once in the last 4 years. The last 2 years they have gone 8-8 and 5-11. Dave Gettleman at 8. He actually moved up from 7. In a year where they went from SB runner up to 6-10 and had the Josh Norman screw up. Rick SMith at 9. The same Rick Smith who threw 72 million at Brock Osweiller without ever meeting him and then traded him AND a 2nd a year later to get rid of his mistake. Stephen Jones at 10. This is one where he has them ranked too low imo. I would put him over the above 3 at least. Kevin Colbert at 13 with this writeup: "At some point, Colbert is going to need one of his Cameron Heyward/Jarvis Jones/Ryan Shazier/Bud Duprees to actually be a star." Jarvis Jones no longer plays for the Steelers Jon Robinson at 20. Criminally low for the work he has done with the Titans imo. And on and on... There are reasons to not like Whaley but if you already held that belief this article shouldn't be used as ammunition to prove your point...
  7. With Tolbert to handle the short yardage runs, Williams to spell McCoy, and DiMarco leading the way I don't really see RB as a weakness. If anything I think the signings early in FA were to prepare for this scenario.
  8. talk is that this is clearing the way for him to be traded to the saints for the 32nd pick.
  9. The Hamstring issue scares me. Generally they are followed by Achilles or lower leg injuries in the following years. I hope he can be healthy but that is a huge red flag for me.
  10. I agree and I see it as a need and one of the 6 needs. I trust Whaley more at that position than others to find a guy either with a mid/late round pick or FA signing on the cheap. I just think the holes in the secondary are a bigger need and detriment to possible success. Rex really did do a number on this team. QB certainly hides flaws but these guys (imo) will need to be hidden for the first year at least if not longer. I'm not in love with any of them as the savior although I like Watson the best of the group. I think your first 3 picks make sense even if it isn't best case scenario to draft for need. This year need and talent line up pretty well though.
  11. You mean the Lakers lol I love Magic. He is the reason for me being a Laker fan. The last few years have been ugly and I don't know if Jeannie is any better than Jimmy when it comes to running a team. I am very encouraged by Pelinka and I love Walton as the coach. They need a star though and it isn't the attractive place it once was. The new NBA lets guys create super teams wherever they want. Golden State and Cleveland are the class of the NBA. That would have been laughable in the 90s. Outside of Run TMC and a few years of Price/Nance/Ehlo neither of those teams were competing for titles and even those groupings were good in conference but not good enough to actually win. LA isn't necessary to become a star with social media and I think that is what they are having the hardest time with when it comes to their sales pitches. Everyone used to want to go to Hollywood. Now Hollywood is in everyone's pocket with Twitter, Instagram ,etc...
  12. Yeah and I'm not convinced PG is that guy. I like what Ainge and Stevens are doing. I would love for a return of Lakers C's but the Buss kids aren't Dr. Buss and they keep proving that over and over...
  13. I thought who the hell is Parker? No worries. I appreciate the write up. I almost forgot about Ragland. Now that the year of waiting is over it is indeed like an extra pick. I hope he is as good as the camp reports last year.
  14. Surprised you all agreed. I keep telling my buddy this isn't the year for them. I think at this point it would have been foolish to push all the chips in. The strategy of bulding for 2 years from now is very sound imo. LeBron started slowing down this year and while the Cavs are still the best team in the East that gap is narrowing.
  15. Nice write up! I changed your o-line as you were missing Glenn. I also left ST alone as they generally don't play into draft strategy. Blue = above average Grey = Average Red = below average CB/S/WR are the biggest holes on the roster right now imo. LB is certainly a need but that group is passable. I feel a lot more comfortable with Whaley scraping the bottom of the barrel at that position. 3 big needs then a RT project, LB, extra DB would be our 6 if we were looking for a pure needs based draft for me.
  16. Non qb guys lol. Is there anyone the Bills could grab at 10 besides Mahomes/Tru that you would be good with?
  17. Do you have a list of non qb guys you're interested in or is it Mahomes/Tru or bust for you?
  18. I don't know why but I like the tarts and just can't really get on board with the Gose. They are too fruity I think. I enjoy 1 but then I have to switch off of them.
  19. I know I'll get crushed for this but the C's aren't a very good team either. I mean they're good but not #1 seed good. (yeah I'm a Lakers fan ) They are a year or 2 ahead of schedule imo. If the ping pong balls fall right they could be trouble but the East is LeBron's until someone takes it from him.
  20. Yeah but that won't be until August. No matter who gets picked half at least half the board will be upset. QB - it wasn't my guy or they should stick with TT Any other position - should have been a qb I can think of a handful of polarizing guys too; Howard, Peppers, M Williams, Foster, etc... Well there are 2 logical answers. 6 as in 9,8,7,6, etc... or 8 as in 9,8,7,8,9 but his point stands. You have taken some hard stances. I don't know if I want the Bills to take Mahomes so you can shut up ( all in good fun) or not take him so I can watch what I can only imagine will be an epic melt down.
  21. I have TT pegged about 20th best qb I just happen to rank Wentz below that for now. The league doesn't know whether Wentz can or can't do it yet. I was responding to a post originally that stated the Eagles made a trade and mortgaged their future and it was worth it because now they have their guy. That is why I keep repeating he isn't a sure thing. Simply because he went #2 and a team spent a ton to get him doesn't mean it is the right move or that it will work. A perfect example of this is RG3 in Washington (who actually had a much better rookie year than Wentz). As for the pay cut there is a larger sample size and TT isn't on a rookie contract. I wonder how they would be viewed if the money was the same. Think about this, Wentz would have to improve just to put up the numbers TT already has. I love what the Eagles did this offseason though by getting him weapons. Alshon was a fantastic pick up. They made an investment and now they are doubling down on it. That is smart. The Bills made an investment and as of yet have done nothing to help him. That is frustrating to me and part of what makes me second guess a qb at 10. I've said it before but it bears repeating. You have made up your mind that TT doesn't have it. I haven't yet and I would like to see him given a punchers chance with some talent at the WR position. On an aside though... I have to go back to the attempts and being asked to carry the team. It is just wrong imo. On a per game basis Wentz was indeed 6th in the league in attempts per game and TT was 32nd. That sounds like a huge difference. In reality it was 8.8 attempts per game. 37.9 to 29.1. Looking at it that way it doesn't really seem like that narrative holds up that way either. Those 8 attempts led to an average of 34.9 more yards per game. Again not a gigantic difference. Especially when that boils down to 4.4 yards per throw. This was never meant to be a TT vs. Wentz derailment so we don't have to continue down this path. I just find it strange that by almost measurement TT was better than Wentz last year and Wentz is better? To me that is because he doesn't play for the Bills and he was drafted 2nd overall. Not because of his actual performance.
  22. The point of my post was we do not know if Wentz is a franchise guy and someone that the trade was worth. Yet. He may very well develop into a franchise guy but I don't see how anyone can say it is a guarantee. I do think it strange though that you say Wentz was asked to carry the Eagles offense and that the Eagles are "pleased as punch" with a guy who went for 11 tds and 14 ints over his last 13 games. If he was asked to carry the offense he didn't do a very good job. I think back to Edward's Arm who use to post non stop about ypa being the best measuring statistic for projecting a qb. Wentz had a ypa of 6.23 which was good for 29th in the league ahead of only Brock Osweiler. To my original point, Wentz may develop but he has a LONG way to go before that trade was a win for the Eagles. The bolded is very true. Tyrod gets killed for his lack of production as a second year starter but across the board put up better numbers than Wentz. Wentz "was asked to carry the Eagles" and put up 245.75 ypg. Tyrod was hidden and put up 240.2 ypg. Wentz struggled mightily from week 5 on. It may be growing pains but he certainly didn't come in and set the league on fire. I struggle with what to do at 10. A QB if they work out would definitely be the best course of action but it would also be giving up on this year. I'm not sold on a qb this year but not completely against it. I like Watson and Mahomes the best of the top 4 and dislike Trubisky and Kizer. I like that the Bills are doing their homework on the class as they should every year. It is a welcome change. This is the first year I don't really have a guy I like but a bunch of guys I'd be okay with. Last year I wanted Lawson but didn't think he would last so I was ecstatic. The only other year the Bills grabbed my guy was Dareus. I'm going wait and see this year and just gonna trust that the team has done its homework and picked a guy who can be a stud in the league qb or otherwise.
  23. I've long since given up falling in love with guys in the draft. It usually just leads to disappointment. So whatever the Bills do I'm going to hope it's the right pick. If it's a qb I hope they do develop into a franchise guy. If it isn't a qb I'll hope none of them develop into one lol.
  24. wentz is nowhere near a guarantee to be a franchise player. in fact almost across the board he had worse numbers than TT last year. so your narrative could be correct or they mortgaged their future for a bust or he could be a TT level player.
