  1. He has played a full season 3 out of 6 years. He appeared in only 20 of 32 possible games the last 2 years. He is no doubt pro bowl talent but is it over for him already? It would be nice to pick him up if the price was right. I just have no idea what the right price would be haha
  2. If he is selected earlier than projected by draft websites it's a reach? The funny thing about "reach" is that the draft gurus that proclaim this have no idea what teams big boards look like. Remember Kiper and Claussen? Kiper had him rated the 4th overall prospect and he went what 38? How does anyone know whether or not multiple teams had him graded as a second round pick? Because Kiper said so? I love reading the pre draft info as much as the next guy but I also feel that some of it isn't very credible. "I always say to people, 'I'm not picking.' My opinions, to NFL teams, don't matter. Teams don't care what I say," said Kiper, who has three years left on his current ESPN deal. "If I were an owner, and I knew my team was worrying about what Mel Kiper said, I wouldn't be happy." http://www.usatoday.com/sports/football/nfl/2009-04-24-mel-kiper_N.htm Kiper has faced scrutiny in the past about his involvement with agents. In April of 2009 when Kiper had Clausen rated as the top quarterback (ahead of Sam Bradford) and fourth overall, the Washington Post said there were whispers about the draft analyst's friendship with Wichard. Kiper responded by saying he didn't think highly of Wichard clients Taylor Mays and Freeney and that he is friends with several agents. http://www.mockingthedraft.com/2010/10/12/1747443/si-story-implicates-mel-kiper-in-agent-payoff-investigation
  3. yeah he's not top 5 he's top 6! Is it me or did you completely defeat your own argument with these links? Everyone (well apparently not everyone) knew who Dareus was and had him slated high in the first round pre-combine.
  4. NOWHERE absolutely NOWHERE is a college or even high school injury report. 2009: Started all 13 games at defensive tackle 2008: Made starts in all 12 games consistently being disruptive at his defensive tackle spot 2007: Made 11 starts and appeared in all 14 games at defensive tackle 2006: Saw action in nine games, including three starts at defensive tackle High School: Three-year letterman at Salem High School for head coach Frank Caputo as well as this little tidbit from the linked article: It's hard for teams to find nose tackles with Troup's size, strength and motor in the middle rounds of the draft, so don't be surprised if he is selected earlier than many project. So can we lay this TBD myth that Troup was injury prone in college or even that he was a reach to rest?
  5. I say they wouldn't have because the Falcons had a winning record. On that note I don't think the Pats* could have made it out of the NFC. Say you do discount the Falcon's game for whatever inane reason. The Giants beat the 15-1 Packers (handily I might add) and the 13-3 49ers. (Both on the road!) The Pats* beat the 8-8 Broncos and the 12-4 Ravens (barely). In the NFC the Pats* would have also been on the road for at least the Packers game. Comparing the defensive efforts of these two teams is a joke!
  6. Before Spygate, Belichick's Patriots were 12-2 in the playoffs and 3-0 in the Super Bowl. Since the illegal taping scheme was revealed, they are 4-4 in the postseason and 0-2 in the Super Bowl. But it was no help at all
  7. some more that I stumbled across: In the postseason, the Giants finished 3-0 on the road. All other teams finished 0-9 on the road Tom Brady completed 25 of his first 31 pass attempts, then two of his final 10 attempts. Eli Manning completed 25 of his first 34 pass attempts, then five of his final six attempts The Packers and Giants, the last two Super Bowl champions, were a combined 19-13 during the regular season followed by a combined 8-0 in the postseason. Eli Manning is 7-0 as a starter on the road in the playoffs, with 12 touchdown passes versus two interceptions. Eleven undrafted free agents started in the Super Bowl, versus 10 first-round draft choices(bold because this can't go overlooked!) Danny Woodhead became the second Chadron State player to appear in the Super Bowl, after Don Beebe, with the Bills and Packers. (It's no Coe College)
  8. This to me was the biggest drop. Hernandez was an easy catch but it was a short pass. The Welker "drop" involved an excellent adjustment by him to even get his hands on the ball. The Branch drop though... wow he had nothing but open field and would have at least set up a much shorter attempt for the game winning td. When he dropped that my friends and I looked at each other with the phew we dodged one there look. It was later in the game and much more worse than the Welker one imo. I wonder why it is getting as much pub.
  9. Last year Eli led the league in interceptions This year Fitz led the league in interceptions so he IS on his level Guess that means Super Bowl next year!!!!!
  10. not for nothing but when Curtis Martin retired it was a matter of time before he was inducted. Look at these numbers: 4th all time in rushing yards 9 straight years over 1000 yards 7 of which were over 1200 yards over 17000 career yards 100 career tds I remember being glad when he retired because he was a consistent workhorse back and played in 166 of a possible 175 games at running back. I think a lot of the Curtis Martin hate is because he spent his career with NE and the Jets.
  11. I don't disagree with this but that speaks more to my belief in welker's catching ability rather than how good of a throw it was. He was in the air spun around and had to grab it awkwardly. Bad throw more than a drop to me but I definitely agree he usually will make that catch.
  12. that is funny they've always struck me as more of a bottom
  13. I struggle with the gateway theory myself but do tend to believe it just not the way its pushed. I don't think just because you smoke weed you will do coke then crack. I do think people that are predisposed to these activities find their "comfort" level of how far they pursue drugs, and that can be pushed because "well I tried x and it wasn't as bad as everyone said - I wonder how y is". Drugs and drug use is a tricky touchy subject. I think it is clear the "war on drugs" is a failure but I also feel legalize everything is ridiculous. As for the Madden comment - if it was a joke I laughed pretty good. If you were serious well... nevermind I'll just hope you were joking haha
  14. The Patriots haven't won a title in seven years, but even worse, they're now turning into the Buffalo Bills, with the Giants being their Cowboy daddy. This made me laugh and then I thought wait a second... This article though was hilarious. Very funny even if that wasn't the intention. I am very annoyed by the media attention (ESPN and Yahoo both) calling it a welker drop. That is a tough catch. Very poorly thrown ball and no one will blame the almighty Brady!
  15. that was blatant intentional grounding. I think the issue is people are used to seeing the qb throw the ball away short or at his lineman's feet. If you watch the replay there is no wr within 30 yards of where the ball landed. That is not a missed route especially with the time Brady had. He saw the pressure and threw it away. He just chose to do so in the middle of the field imo hoping that the ref wouldn't call it doesn't look like the traditional penalty. I was jumping up and down yelling that it should be intentional grounding and loved that they actually threw the flag.
  16. I can't find the similarities between the last 2 giants super bowl runs but know it included a lot of fun facts. They aired it on sports center last night. Does anyone have a link to it or remember any of the facts? My memory from last night is a bit hazy
  17. guess she should have asked for people to pray for the receivers and te's
  18. Can you point to anyone who has said you know when my life really turned around? When I started doing coke. Don't discount this drug. It is very dangerous and has ruined many lives. To me cocaine is THE gateway drug. When people cross from marijuana to cocaine it becomes much less of a leap to crack or worse. I also feel since marijuana is so demonized when people try it and find out its not terrible they feel that the info on cocaine probably is wrong too. I do not mean to attack you personally but I do know people who have lost jobs, families, etc. to cocaine use which usually led to use of harder drugs. The real kicker is that is out of your system so fast (2 days) that many people have this as their drug of choice if they get drug tested at work.
  19. Watched it didn't see the bird and don't understand why it's getting pub. If it's a terrible act that people shouldn't see why is it publicized? I never would have known it happened if it wasn't on the front page of yahoo news. They need to do away with the halftime show altogether. It's a football game and teams shouldn't have to practice 31 minute delays to participate.
  20. All of these are from the same article but none the less just some things I found interesting http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/story/17143832/super-bowl-judgements-manninghams-catch-review-surprised-him-a-little Manningham's quote about his catch "After I caught that, I figured we're going to win," he said. What he didn't know, he conceded, was how officials would judge it -- and consider this a shot at New England, the NFL or both. "I kinda figured [i was in]," he said, "but I didn't know what the ref was going to do. Knowing who we were playing against and how things operate around here." The Giants are the first team to be outscored in the regular season and win the Super Bowl. They're also the first team to allow 400 points in the regular season and the first to overcome a four-game losing streak. In his past three games vs. the Giants, he's (Brady) been sacked nine times, had as many turnovers (5) as touchdown passes (5) and gone 0 for 3, including two Super Bowl losses. This makes Bill Belichick 3-0 in Super Bowls pre-Spygate; 0-2 post-Spygate. When old NFL teams wins, meaning the NFC, it's bull market; when it's old AFL teams it's a bear market. That's not my opinion; it's based on something called the Super Bowl Indicator (SBI), and it's been correct 33 of 41 times. 4: Super Bowl losses for New England, tying the Bills, Broncos and Vikings for the most 5-1: Tom Coughlin vs. Bill Belichick, including the regular season 21: Yards, the longest play for New England I know there are many similarities for the Giants between this year and 07 and will try to find them. I love some of these though... Coughlin owns Belicheat, NE long play of 21 yards? maybe the dink and dunk offense comment was correct, and Manningham's quote! So in the last week Dareus and now Manningham have both made reference to favortism towards Brady and the Pats*.
  21. This was one of the main reasons I was rooting against the Pats*.... besides the fact that you know they are the Pats*. The Giants may have been 9-7 but to make the super bowl they DOMINATED the Falcons and Packers then beat (yes it was lucky) the 49ers. The Pats* were gift wrapped a subpar Broncos team and then beat the Ravens (luck). I just felt all of the accolades and love fest they surely would have been given (Belicheat and Brady each with 4 super bowl wins, greatest of all time questions, Patriots best dynasty ever, etc...) would have been very undeserved. beating 1 team with a winning record the entire year should not get you to the Super Bowl but it did. on a side note.... Robert Cohen I don't want to know how much you lost bc I'm sure it was more than I make in a year but I told you so Bookie offered a parlay with Giants +2.5, under 55, Giants less than 28 points, Pats* less than 31 points and I got paid! Only 10 to win 100 but that's only because you haven't given me that job yet haha
  22. http://torotimes.com/2012/02/04/new-england-patriots-release-player-day-before-super-bowl/ Another link to the story... Let's hope this guy is right!
