  1. Wouldn't it be wild if the Colts cut Manning so Luck doesn't have to sit behind him only to have RG3 end up sitting behind him. I don't see it happening but what a crazy scenario if it did... especially if RG3 turns out better than Luck - you know it would be credited to Manning regardless of his actual impact. Manning doesn't strike me as someone who would be a mentor due to his competitiveness but I could be wrong.
  2. I wonder how many teams will end up actually going after rg3. With Manning and Flynn more than likely available I think it will remove the Redskins and Dolphins. That leaves the Browns, Seahawks, and maybe the Bills. I think that is why there is so much talk about this happening now. Before FA the Rams hold all the cards, once it starts and a couple of the pieces fall the supply/demand moves away from them. Again I will assert that I really feel it will be the Browns who are the eventual winners in this. If the Redskins and Dolphins do end up with Manning/Flynn 1 of 2 things will happen. The Browns can sit pat and let RG3 come to them at their pick or pay less of a premium for the #2 pick. Either way I will be stunned if someone actually gives up 3 #1s to make this happen. Also I would like to add that if the Rams did trade Bradford (say to the skins for the #6 pick) they will save themselves 26 million dollars! I have no idea why they are tied to this guy. He is/has been injury plagued if not prone and has a huge cap number. Being just 2 years removed from being the #1 he may be able to fetch a decent haul. Imagine the Rams draft if they got the skins #6 and #38. It would give the Rams 4 picks in the first 38! On top of saving 26 mill it seems to be a good deal for both sides (even slightly slanted in favor of the Redskins).
  3. Missing on a qb high in the draft isn't as bad as it used to be. The salary structure limits the financial burden of such a pick and that is what used to cripple franchises.
  4. I can't be the only one who remembers this. I tried looking but couldn't find a link. Does anyone else remember this? Anyway, I think this is much ado about nothing. I think it is all posturing on the Rams price to drive up what the Browns will be willing to pay for the pick. I feel they don't want to move out of the top 4 where they are assured of either Kalil or Blackmon who will both immediately help Bradford. If they move to 6 it is somewhat of a crapshoot who they end up with. The only way I see them being comfortable with this is if they have a different tackle rated as high as kalil.
  5. Well there is documented interest by the Bengals in Richardson. Also KC (who picks directly behind us) has had Richardson mocked to them whenever he free falls. I would also add the Jets as a potential landing spot if he makes it all the way there. So if the BBengals do in fact want him and want him badly enough they may explore a trade. If they do that the logical partner would be the Bills. I'll spin it like this, they would essentially be trading Carson Palmer for Trent Richardson and the #42 pick. It would give them a scary triplet as well as not short out their draft. They would still have 2 second rounders as well. The more I look into it I don't see it happening but I would love if it did. They are the perfect partner for the Bills in terms of where they could really help themselves. Which is again why I don't see it happening... it's to good to be true for the Bills. Btw if it did go down I would draft Floyd/Kirkpatrick/Mercilus at 17 and 21. I think its reasonable that if all three are there at 17 1 of the 2 we dont pick would still be at 21.
  6. I seem to remember a story where Belicheat would bring in all of the high ranked qbs for an interview. It wasn't because they were going to draft him but so he could pick their brain. That way he would have insight into their thought process when he had to face them. If this is whats going on . Also Chan has stated his preference for running qbs as the poster above stated maybe they will look into making a move. Either way its good to do some homework. Finally, maybe this is what Ralph meant when he said we need some runners
  7. Walter Football has had him mocked to the Bills for a couple of drafts now... in the 2nd round. I wouldn't mind that. It also would keep alive Buddy's streak of players from the national powerhouse program that is.... CLEMSON!
  8. THAT IS AWESOME!!! Even more reason for me to like the Thurmanator!
  9. This guy would have been a great pick if the Bills stuck with the 34. He does have an amazing size/speed combo.
  10. Sure in theory... but how many times do players have the same grade? That would be an interesting thing to find out. I know the only other comparison is the nba but I prefer that method. It takes a lot of the guessing out of it imo. If you can just take the best player then focus on your needs in free agency where you can get a starter if you need one easier than you can through the draft.
  11. Height / Weight: 6-5 / 260 http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/draft/player/_/id/27557/andre-branch Pass Rush Skills 3 Can be a quarter-count late off the ball. First-step quickness is adequate but not good. Lacks explosive burst around the corner and is a one-gear pass rusher. Shows good upper body power and the ability to use his hands effectively. Flashes an effective club move but doesn't use it frequently enough and needs to improve his array of counter moves once reached. Shows good awareness as a pass rusher. Realizes when he's not getting pressure on the QB and does a good job of getting his arms up for PBUs or to affect QBs sightline. Versus the run 2 Consistently executes his assignment and does a nice job with outside contain. Plays under control. Shows good leverage out of stance. Is stronger than measurable would indicate. Is consistently able to lock on and anchor versus bigger OTs. Does an adequate job of disengaging but can continue to improve hand usage. Makes some difficult tackles while disengaging from blocks. Good effort Gauged the eye of a Florida State offensive lineman David Spurlock during 2010 contest. No off the field issues to our knowledge. http://blogs.buffalobills.com/2012/02/27/dl-branch-ingram-post-good-40s/ He models his game after Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs. "I'm a versatile player. I can stand up, I can run sideline to sideline and I can also drop into coverage. And I'm a natural born leader," said Branch He's a projected first- or second-round pick I figured I'd put this up before some delta bravo tells you to google him.
  12. I gotta say this type of thing is why I wish the draft happened before free agency. The Bills would be in a lot better spot knowing who they had taken at 10 and knowing what they need to do in fa then vice versa. If they end up having the option of taking a good lt but already signed bell what do they do?
  13. I did this yesterday when I was cruising around that site. I picked Mercilus (prob not a big surprise for some). I also went through and picked the other teams and kept voting coples so he wont be there On an aside... Wondering what your thoughts on DeQuan Menzie from Alabama are. I think he did well across from Kirkpatrick and he is rated anywhere from 3rd to 7th round. Thanks Astro! BTW your latest mock with Mercilus at the top gets a from me!
  14. Haha I was wondering how long it would take for that thread to spawn this poll. Come on people seriously..... It's Kathy bates all day!
  15. maybe thats what he did and did better than expected lol
  16. I think a lot of it is want too as well. Did VY care about his wonderlic? probably not. He may also be dumb as a box of rocks and more than likely didn't care about the test. It should be shocking, you are correct, but I don't think it is because of the stereotype of the dumb jock. I wonder how many of these kids have to give any effort at all to graduate from high school/college. I am always amazed when players can't qualify academically both because the standard is so low but also because they are given so much help!
  17. I have to disagree (but that is prob how he is overrated haha). He has a GREAT track record with qbs going back to his gb days. McNabb was considered a terrible pick by Philly fans and booed loudly (they wanted Ricky Williams). Vick was a lost cause, out of the league 2 years, never watched film felon/ He credits the Eagles with teaching him how to become a qb. He has 2 losing seasons in 13 (playoffs in 9 of 13)! 4 straight NFC east crowns and 5 in 6 years as well as 4 straight nfc championship game appearances. I think the name your looking for when you talk about overrated is Jeff Fisher.
  18. The test is from the Wonderlic people. They gave a sample to the walterfootball site. It shouldn't really surprise anyone that took it that we did well. First we all took it willingly which says we were confident in our abilities. Second we aren't d-1 athletes whose primary focus is not education but athletics. Playing sports in college is hard. It takes up a lot of time and doesn't leave much free time for anything least of all studying. It is very much a job and saps the fun out of it for some guys. Plus some (not all) athletes are just big dumb meatheads so them doing poorly on this test shouldn't come as a surprise haha.
  19. I know it seems like I'm flip flopping all over the place her but what the heck I plan on being a politician in the future so this is just good practice . I agree with you that Fitz should be given at least this year. With all of the holes on this team I would prefer a stronger core through draft and fa than mortgaging anything for anyone. I also agree that who is thought of as franchise can change from year to year. I remember at the beginning of the year when Eli said he was in Tom Brady's class and everyone EVERYONE laughed. He was still considered to be a franchise type qb with the potential to be in that realm. The disagreement is the same one everybody had last year. It's over whether or not Fitz can lead us to the promised land. Some people got hope from the first 7 games and others despair from the last 9. The thing I absolutely hate about Fitz? Every year when I start to jump on his bandwagon the wheels fall off. It's like as soon as I accept he may be good he starts sucking. It happened his first year starting and again this year. So to all of you Fitz haters its my fault I'm sorry
  20. It looks like this board is filled with Geniuses! Or nerds that take test for fun! I think they are fairly similar with the two I highlighted jmo
  21. I appreciate the shout out but I did add a few caveats too. I think there are qbs out there that every team would like to have (the elite qbs). I think we all know who those qbs are. Brees, Rodgers, Brady, both Mannings, Rothlesburger, Stafford, and I may have missed one or two. We can argue about Romo (who fit my franchise qb criteria somehow) and others but not Fitz. There is no doubt all of these qbs are better than Fitz. Which doesn't make him terrible but he is clearly not elite (I will add yet but c'mon he's 30). Those that want a "franchise" qb want someone who can put the team/game on their shoulders. Not some quantifiable number/stat. Some here are convinced that is Fitz but most of us aren't. Do you remember how you felt when Jim Kelly was behind center? That points were a given and the other d wouldn't stop them no matter what? I think that is what the people searching for a "franchise" qb want back, the feeling of confidence in your qb. Again some people have that in Fitz and some don't.
  22. I understand these fears because of the 1 year wonder and big ten ties however they are 2 completely different players. Maybin was tiny and had run d as a known weakness. Mercilus does not have these issues. The only consistent knock I have seen on him (from scouts) is the 1 year wonder concern. The numbers are absolutely incredible though... 9 ff, 16 sacks, 22.5 tfl and he is 6'4" 265!
  23. Just saw the text chat with Doug Whaley on bb.com and this question was brought up. Comment From ASmith What is your opinion on 'one year wonders'....although they put up good numbers their Jr. season?? a la Whitney Mercilus 10:43 Doug Whaley: You'd like to see the production over time, but you don't discount one-year wonders because there are a lot of circumstances that could go into that. So you do your research and you have to feel comfortable with the skill set that they bring to the table.
  24. I know it wont happen because Buddy doesnt trade down but... There have been rumblings of Cincy trying to trade up for Richardson. They currently own #17 and #21 and could offer their second round pick as well as 17 to move up or the Bills could give their second round pick (with 10) and get 17 and 21. I would prefer getting 17 and 21 out of those two scenarios. With those picks the Bills could prob grab Mercilus and Floyd/ot prospect. Which would be a great first day of the draft imo. edit: I would also like to add that I think Upshaw will see a little bit of a decline in his projections due to size/speed concerns. He could also be a possibility at 17 if he made it past the Jets. If the Bills could pull Mercilus at 21 and Upshaw at 17 well... someone would have to wake me because its just a pipe dream but still a good one to have!
