  1. As of right now the Bills hold the #8 pick. According to Drafttek Manti T'eo is the #8 prospect and Geno Smith is #7. Since these are the names most often mentioned I figured it would be interesting to see where people stand on who they would like the Bills to pick with their first rounder. If Smith is available I would pick him over T'eo. I have concerns about Smith's mental toughness as I have seen him hang his head several times. However his talent is evident especially on medium throws which kill defenses. T'eo may translate well to the next level but after McClain and Curry have washed out I'm a little concerned about drafting a mlb this high. His 40 time will either make or cost him a lot of money. So what say you?
  2. I have to imagine most have jumped on the lose out train at this point, either to see Chan fired, improve draft stock, or both here are the scenarios for this week. Currently the Bills are drafting 8th with the potential to move all the way up to 3 with some insane breaks. They have been locked out of pick 1 and 2. Week 16 who to root for: Lions over Falcons (would push the Lions behind the Bills) Dolphins over Bills (Bills could fall as far as pick 12 with a win) Raiders over Panthers (this wouldn't move the Bills ahead of the Raiders but give them a chance to in week 17) Eagles over Redskins (unfortunately not a chance for this one) Chargers over Jets (very well could happen) Browns over Broncos (not very likely) So there it is. This is who to root for so the Bills can finally (maybe) find their qb of the future.
  3. Hey you retired from this !!! He's good and I wouldn't mind him on the Bills but I do have concerns. He reminds me a lot of Trent. I don't know why but he does. That said he is very accurate and does well with a no huddle attack which speaks to his iq. His deep accuracy is troublesome to me but it is only by the eye test as I couldn't find stats to prove/disprove me.
  4. holy crap I've never heard of such a thing! I don't think that will stand but Good Luck!
  5. Yeah as big of a story as it is it is also a non-story. This probably happens to many colleges and many players but this being the local team we have eyes and ears on it. FWIW the article you posted is very accurate to the situation. Not to divulge to much but I got the story from someone very close to the situation and it is standard procedure as was mentioned. It appears not to be a case of preferential treatment. Anyway I don't see any reason for Jimmy B to not get 900 tonight. I agree with others though as I am concerned their heads appear to be a bit bigger than they should be. This team is a bit of a slow starter. Due to the poor quality of opponents they haven't had to pay for it yet. Canisius and E. Michigan were poor efforts imo and they still won by 20 in each of them (almost 40 vs. E. Michigan) Really need to see more from the bigs going forward. Coleman appears to be a bit soft and I would like to see more of an edge from him.
  6. Ugh this line of thinking is so obnoxious. Why does he equal those 2? Is it really because they went to the same school? Sanchez started for 1 year not 4 like Barkley. Leinart was surrounded by talent that was considered to be some of the best all time in cfb Barkley had teams that were on probation and lacked elite talent. Yes Barkley has 2 great college wrs but a horrific o-line and an okay run game. Certainly not the White/Bush backfield that Leinart had. The thinking that a player from x cllege sucked so other ones will too is asinine at best. It's the same thinking that leads teams to pass on Brian Orakpo because Mike Williams was soft and therefore all Texas players are. Judge him on his merits not his predecessors . Thank you!
  7. Oh it's definitely true. Except he didn't get arrested. He was offered a chance to buy the things and avoid charges and did so. He was caught with items and led out by a "secret shopper."
  8. I agree with both your research and point. This just isn't a year with great qb prospects. So instead of reaching I would prefer a trade up scenario. Value is still important to me so I'd rather have that happen then a huge reach.
  9. Thanks. As Ryan will attest I have been for winning out that doesn't mean you can't look and see what may happen. All week long I realize that it is better for the bills to lose. You know what happens when I wake up Sunday? I want the bills to win. Everyone wants the bills to win ham. It is just a matter of thinking long term or short term as others have pointed out. Getting a better pick doesn't guarantee anything but it does increase the pool of players you can pick from thereby increasing your chances. This is unarguable.
  10. I agree and think his first round picks have been pretty easy. Spiller, Dareus, and Gilmore were all telegraphed.
  11. This is from the comments section and exactly what I thought he meant when I read it: He’s not talking about moving to the top part of the draft, he’s talking about probably the tail end of the first round… “there’s a time when you can move up a round to take a quarterback,” At that point it’s a fairly low risk move and may be worth it. Guys like Tyler Wilson, Landry Jones, and Matt Barkley are worth the risk there. These are guys that would have been top 10 picks had they come out last year. It looks like a trade back into the late part of round 1 to jump ahead of qb needy teams at the top of round 2. It sounds like (of this is what he actually means) exactly what I would want them to do.
  12. I don't understand this thinking. Why not? Between Rochester, Buffalo, and the Ontario area there is no money? It may change the dynamic of who attends but not that people do attend. So do you disagree with my reasoning? Do you feel that football was the national past time in the early 90s like it is today? It was 20 years ago - so much has changed in that time frame please explain to me why you feel it would be the same today.
  13. I know I was among the many "leading the charge" that I wanted the team to win out. Well after last night's win by Cincy I thought it would be interesting to see how high the Bills could pick in the draft if everything worked out right. Currently the Bills are drafting 11th so if you are among the many that are looking for a lose out get the best pick possible these are your scenarios. Week 15: Philly has already lost unfortunately Jags over Miami Tenn over NY Jets Cle over Washington (I don't think this happens) Seattle over Buffalo unbelievably all other teams above us in the draft are playing each other kc vs oak (better if KC wins) car vs sd (better for Bills if Chargers win) det vs arizona (I don't think there is any way the cards win so we will call it a lions W) if all of this happen the Bills will move up to the 7th pick week 16: Miami over Buffalo KC over Indy (don't think this happens) Jags over Pats (no way this happens - but this is just an exercise) Oak over Carolina (don't think this happens either) Philly over Washington (don't think this happens either) Arizona over Chicago (don't think this happens either) Amazingly none of this would improve the Bills position they would still be drafting 7th week 17: Kc over Denver Jax over Tenn Oak over SD Philly over NYG Car over Saints zona over 49ers If all of this happens the Bills could do no worse than the 5th pick and as well as the #1 pick depending on tie breakers. Their is no way this happens though as week 16 is filled with improbable scenarios. "Best case" appears to be #7 with a lose out scenario so... good luck? I'll update after this weeks games
  14. Thanks! Hope he listened BGE was on my opponents team in 2 of the 3 leagues I have left and he put up 16.6 in my ppr league and 16 in my non tenth of a point/non ppr league.
  15. I think 7 teams in from each conference is an excellent idea. Think of all it would accomplish: 1) With only 1 bye teams that jump out wouldn't be able to rest their starters as early. This would guarantee competitive games later in the season as they would still have something to play for. 2) More teams with an opportunity allows for more fan bases to stay involved longer. Think about how many Bills fans check out as soon as they are eliminated. All of them would still have hope which in turn leads to more viewers, higher attendance, more dollars! 3) It would bring into balance the % of teams making the playoffs after expansion as was mentioned earlier in the thread. 4) More football! Who doesn't want this? This reminds me of the wild card discussion in baseball. The idea was panned and people hated it - fast forward a few years and it has become a great idea (until they messed with it this year).
  16. I disagree completely with this sentiment. I think he is wrong. Yes Buffalo is a small market but geographically they have a nice advantage of being the only team around. All the way to Utica the closest team is the Buffalo Bills. With a competitive product people would have no issue traveling to the games. With the product that has been put out the last decade plus it isn't worth people's time. With a competitive product young kids who would be the future fans wouldn't become pats*, giants, or jets fans. With a competitive product small areas such as Pittsburgh and Green Bay have thrived. I don't want the crap about the early 90's teams not selling out either - football was not near the giant that it is today. Popularity is at an all time high for this league and the Bills regularly sell out without a competitive team. There is a theme - have a winner or even a competitive team that makes the playoffs once in a while, and there is no need to farm out games. Push the crap that they have? While I guess this is what needs to be done.
  17. BGE - only because I hate Ryan Matthews. Never produces when he should. He may be the better play but I don't think he can ever be counted on reliably. Also there is the cahnce that Philly is out of it early and Bengals run down the clock. Manning - so consistent. Ryan is up and down and yes the Giants secondary is banged up but I just think Manning is a player that you don't consider sitting. I've been playing him over Stafford all year. Dolphins - remember what the Bills did to the Jags? Phins have a stout run defense and although their pass d isn't great the pass rush still does have Wake. Just my .02 good luck!
  18. What an episode last night! So many questions now! What was the monsignor thinking baptizing "santa?" He makes a few minutes of pennance and 18 murders are forgotten? The monsignor got what he deserved but I don't think he will die. Interesting that there are only 4 episodes left. It seems as if there is a lot to tie up in the next few episodes. I hate having to wait until January 2nd for it!
  19. Man how did I forget this one! I'll add to it: with my loves
  20. You'd be a lot cooler if you did Mine is simple and to the point.
  21. How funny. Remember when a gold or platinum album was a big deal? Now in the age of musical piracy it is difficult to tell how successful a band is. Do downloads count in record #'s? Should they? Nevermind is an amzing album that i'll still listen to... I just skip smells like teen spirit Although it isn't their typical sound Unplugged is my favorite album by them. After that album I fell in love with acoustic music. Kiss also did very well with their unplugged album (favorite version of Beth on that one)
  22. Bringing it to the masses was all I meant by what I said. I apologize for the confusion. Grunge was huge in the Seattle are but not really anywhere else until Smells Like Teen Spirit exploded it onto the scene. Responsible for their success may have been a better phrasing but also still not quite correct. All Apologies
  23. Thanks. What you said makes perfect sense NoSaint. If Reed goes into the Hall I may try to make it for the induction. If not I'll have a much more open calendar of when to go. I've been jealous of my sister who is a huge baseball fan. It is a very easy trip to Cooperstown and she loves the Braves so she has made a few trips as the 90s players go in. Smoltz, Glaine, Maddux, and Cox are all upcoming as well.
  24. Yeah although I did love when he took the penalty against Florida a few years ago. Thought it was a very inspiring move.
  25. 14 year old me wants to fight you. I can understand it not being everyone's cup of tea but I also don't think that they are overrated. They were a good band that launched an entire genre (grunge) that was responsible for a lot of big bands from the 90s (Pearl Jam, soundgarden, alice in chains, etc..). They don't really make many lists of best band of all time. Smells like Teen Spirit is the anthem for many late 20/early 30 guys but again I don't see an overabundance of Nirvana love. Might be there and I miss it bc I love the band but I would say Rush is way more over rated than they are
