  1. It's getting to be about that time. The underwear olympics are over and the chips have fallen. So here is my 2013 mock draft (used drafttek for some, my own for others) for our Bills. What do you think? 1.8 Matt Barkley - If available I believe this is the pick. Marrone has had success against Geno which tells me he sees some flaws in his game that he can exploit. On a purely gut level I think this is the guy that they have targeted. Only Whaley attending made me think that they have done their homework on this guy and don't want others to know their intention (Smokescreen! ). 11tds to 1int against Marrone which has to stick in his mind. Personally I like Barkley. He's polished, from a pro-style offense, and chose to stick it out 1 more year (shows leadership) to bring USC all the way out of their Pete Carroll sanctions. His teams regardless of what you believe were not the usual USC loaded with talent teams. I think he put up great numbers his jr year, played better than Luck heads up, and regressed when his security blanket (Kalil). 2.41 Barrett Jones C - Here is where I get weird. I see a lot of Warmack at 8 qb at 41 and I thought why not flip it on its head. Jones was flat out dominant and won the RImington (top C) in 2012 and Outland (top interior lineman) in 2011. This pick would make up for the loss of Levitre as well as guard against the loss of Wood next year. He is flexible starting 25 games at RG, 11 at LT, and then 13 at C. Seeing this guy ranked this low is surprising to me but I have seen it in a couple of places and think he is amazing value as well as filling a need. 3.71 Margus Hunt DE - I really would have liked a receiving option here but with the exception of Swope there really isn't anyone I liked. Hunt on the other hand is just an athletic specimen. 4.6 speed with 38 reps at the combine show that size/speed combo you want out of a pass rusher. He and Mario would make an excellent tandem. Drafting him would also allow (at times) the Bills to run a version of the Nascar d with Mark Anderson (if he gets healthy). I feel this would also fill a need and he has star potential - something not common in the third round. 4. 105 Nico Johnson LB - Would have loved Da'Rick Rogers here but his immaturity and off field issues make him an anti Marrone pick so instead Johnson who has been described as a lunch pail type player is my pick. Good run defender who can either plug up blockers or pressure a qb. His recovery speed is a bit suspect but his coverage skills are serviceable (hey it's the 4th round) 5. 143 Jelani Jenkins LB - Where Johnson excels at run defense Jenkins excels at pass defense. 6'0 243 pounds (minor size concern) but the speed! This guy is a coverage specialist and someone who can hang with both te's and rb's. He does have some injury issues but nothing major, more the banged up from playing type. 6, 177 Shamarko Thomas SS - This pick solves 2 problems with my mock. There was no Marrone homerism and I hadn't yet taken a db! This kid is a remarkable story. He lost both parents, was instrumental in raising his brothers and sisters, and stayed on the straight and narrow. 4.42 speed, 28 reps @ 225, 40.5 inch vertical, and 133 inch broad jump which were all position highs at the combine. He isn't an underwear warrion though. He was an All Big East 1st team selection and a captain. He solves our "43 is the mike" issue as he is a bit of a tweener Safety/LB. He does suffer from the dreaded issue of "poor ball skill" and only had 2 ints in his career but hey it's the 6th round. (one of the screwy drafttek rankings - no way is this guy available in the 6th) So there it is. I would have loved to take a receiving target but just never really came across one I was in love with. Maybe swapping out Barret Jones for Robert Woods but I just think the Jones pick has so many benefits it would be tough to pass up.
  2. I have been off the Geno bandwagon since last year. I have referenced the game in the dome when I watched him and his demeanor on the sideline. Then I read this: But when it was over, after a 38-14 loss to Syracuse in the Pinstripe Bowl on Dec. 29, Smith sat dejected on the bus back to the hotel while Spavital tried to tell him what he had meant to West Virginia. Smith didn't appear to be listening. "Man, I thought I was playing pretty well," Smith told him. "But going 7-6 makes me feel like I did nothing this year." then this from the same article: He commands intense loyalty from teammates. There was an infamous bench-clearing brawl at a Miramar High game back in 2007, and more than 50 players from Miramar and Flanagan were suspended in what was called Broward County's largest on-field fight. The fight started, Miramar coach Damon Cogdell said, after a late hit delivered on Smith, who was among those suspended. "He was pulling his own guys away," Cogdell said. and this: Smith had a quiet confidence when he stepped on campus in Morgantown, former Mountaineer Jarrett Brown said. Brown was his host on a recruiting trip. Smith didn't want to go out on the town. At one point, Brown asked whether he was too boring for him, and Smith said no. He just wanted to soak in what his future teammates had to say. He was the No. 2 quarterback as a freshman and had to fill in for Brown when he got hurt. "He's not cocky," Brown said. "He was quiet, he did his job, and he came in and helped us win." and now I don't know I'm sure this is a fluff piece but these are the things I thought he was missing... Now I'm not so sure.
  3. I sure hope the irony of your screen name and this post isn't lost on you... I'm not a Fitz hater by any means. He won't lead us to the Super Bowl,he isn't a top 15 qb, but he isn't he worst in the league. C'mon ptr not everyone in this thread has come close to what your implying. They are simply refuting that he is equal in any way shape or form to drew brees. He's gone. Most people were even cordial in their goodbyes.
  4. It's been a long time since you were on the bottom rungs is all I was saying. It wasn't meant to be a negative thing (I don't know when saying that about someone ever has...) just wanted to point out that it has probably been a long time since you were a "bottom feeder." Lower level positions are very susceptible to the whims of managers. DC Tom made a very good point about companies getting smarter about firing people. IMO though that is simply dones so they can try to avoid paying unemployment. I am sure there more just than unjust firings but to say they never happen is very naive and Tom's trademark at worst. To Ryan - any time a paper trail is generated it is time to start watching your back because the wheels have been put in motion.
  5. No the accusations made me laugh. It seems as if they literally have never heard of an unjust firing. Like it never happens. I kept thinking they don't actually think that people are never fired for stupid reasons do they? Then they just kept on going. Regardless of your examples I have to believe they have heard of it happening at least once in their lives... Or are all hiring/firing managers perfect human beings free from personal emotions, vendettas, etc...
  6. All I learned from reading this thread is that KD in CT and LABillzfan are well off financially.
  7. Sean Smith would be a GREAT signing! I think that would set us at cb and fill one of our weaknesses leaving #2 wr, #1 lg, #1 qb, and a starting lb as the remaining needs. Which could be filled through fa (except qb) - think Kevin Walter WR, Brandon Moore G, Karlos Dansby LB (all should be value signings). Thus leaving our draft options much more open to bpa.
  8. I would... then I would be her "hero" for picking her up at her lowest and showing that I care about her as a human being first and an incredibly rich, sexy, athletic woman. (which would all be lies but hey - she doesn't need to know that!)
  9. Great place to see some rankings and the still available players.... there is a ton of talent still out there My list now of players I like: Antoine Winfield cb Fred Davis TE Brandon Moore G Connor Barwin DE/OLB Michael Huff S Cary Williams CB Rey Mauluga MLB Kevin Walter WR Domenik Hixon WR Anthony Fasano TE Karlos Dansby LB Obviously not all of these players can/will be signed but these are some of the available that I like
  10. Daannnnngggg Ryan L Billz gonna party tonight!
  11. Am I the only one who wasn't in love with Bowe anyway? A ton of drops and a lot of (hate this term but it applies) garbage time stats.
  12. I couldn't agree more! When Dicaprio demanded they shake hands I knew a Tarantino blood bath was about to happen and I was not disappointed! I also saw that there was a half hour left and wow. Just a great movie. This and Inglorious Basterds were very well done and I enjoyed upthread the mention of the Tarantino Universe where all of these things happen in the same realm. Just a nice touch.
  13. I agree this was one of the better ones in a while but I wondered... why don't they just move there? It's zombie proofed and the Governor won't be involved. It would help restore a sense of normalcy for Rick, his boy, and Morgan. Just a thought...
  14. MCW needs to stay. I think he is gone but he won't be a top 10 pick. He is too inconsistent and a terrible ball handler. He does so much better playing off the ball I constantly wonder why Triche isn't bringing the ball up. I won't try to win a pulitzer but it seems obvious.... This team all year long I was off the bandwagon. Not a top 10 but a top 20 team. Then they beat Louisville and all of a sudden I was a believer, and the wheels fell off. Buffalo Bills type season for me - just as I dropped the cynicism - they dropped the winning....
  15. I had to show my wife this clip bc when I was talking to my father about it his response was to yell STELLLLLAAAAAA 2 or 3 times as I cracked up.
  16. I can't believe no one has mentioned this to you but.... Conditioner for your beard!!! Shampooing and Conditioning your beard will take away a lot of the scratchiness and roughness of your beard. Bonus is that it smells nice. Seriously tho - shampoo and conditioner!
  17. Oh man I don't want to hear that! lol I actually saw it at a friend's grandma's funeral and thought it was a very beautiful name. I wasn't that mad when Layla got "taken"
  18. I'd tell you 2 good names but my wife would kill me. Her sister "stole" the name if we have a girl and it got ugly. So sorry random tbd'er I'll give you stock answers. There is truth to giving them a "normal" name helping them out later in life. I read an interesting study where people with unique names struggled getting jobs as hiring managers would prefer to skip over names they may not be able to pronounce. Not sure of its accuracy but.... For Boys: William - shorten it to Bill and you've avoided the whole can I convince him to be a Bills fan fiasco. It's a guarantee. For Girls: Layla - Clapton song and I just like the name.. aww f*ck it - girls name Stella - great old name and just beautiful imo, Victor - strong name and again an old name. If I know you and you use these I am not responsible for the hell that will rain down on you if/when my wife hears what you named your child but seriously Congrats!!!
  19. So glad I'm not the only one that feels this joke has run its course...
  20. Matt Schaub was involved in a deal like this. Texans and falcons swapped I believe the 8th and 10th pick. Iirc the texans threw in another pick or two. I'm on my phone or I'd provide a link...
  21. A name I like is domenik hixon. Should be fairly cheap and has been productive on a Super Bowl winning team. Best bang for the buck imo
  22. You know I have been a little disenchanted with tbd lately but this. This is excellent. Thanks for a great thought provoking post with facts. Well done good sir! Oh yeah give me Barkley all day !
