  1. I think it is an indictment on him that he didn't make it to the final cutdown. Maybe they are pulling the super sneaky route to try and get him on the ps but I highly doubt it. He didn't get much playing time in any of the games. I heard an interesting snippet on hard knocks from Marvin Lewis talking about one of his players. He said something along the lines of players don't make the team in practices, they earn playing time in the preseason game, that is where they earn their roster spots. To me it made it almost a 3 stpe process - do well in practice, do well in game, make roster. Rogers failed step 1!
  2. Got to see Styx at the Chevy Court last night and what a show they put on! It is nice to see a band not just touring for the money and putting their heart and soul into a show. The first cd I ever owned was Styx Edge of the Century and 10/11 year old me annoyed the hell out of my family playing Show Me the Way repeatedly. Needless to say I was excited to see them live. I brought my wife, sister, and friend and they spent all week giving me a hard time for wanting to see them and how excited I was, cracking jokes about how few people were going to be there, etc. until we got to Chevy Court that is... 10k plus were there to see them. They then proceeded to put on an excellent show. Which got me to thinking (and I'm sure this question will receive many smart ass comments) why don't Styx get more respect? If Journey can tour without their original lead singer and people still flock to see them why can't Styx? Tommy Shaw is an amazing guitarist who doesn't ever get mentioned as one. Lawrence Gowan more than adequately fills in on vocals and keyboard. They have an impressive catalogue inlcuding many hits and songs that should have been hits. So again I will ask - why doesn't Styx get more respect?
  3. First off that penalty and rule are absolute horse poop. Secondly, something that has always driven me crazy while at games is fans yelling, screaming, and cheering right until the ball is snapped and then dead silence. Why doesn't the crowd continue the noise through the play? It seems like the smart thing would be to continue yelling and screaming but that isn't what happens. Has anyone else noticed this? Can anyone explain to me why this happens?
  4. Well they pulled it off. Ennis looks to be for real too. Hard to be too excited about this as it wasn't pretty but what the hell it is cuse bball!
  5. This is clearly taunting as much as I HATE to defend the Pats*. He holds his jersey, won't let him go, and wags a finger in his face. Lord only knows what he was jawing about too. That said cry baby Brady looking over at the ref like "c'mon he can't do that! Makes me wonder how he gets any respect around the league. He looks like a huge baby!
  6. That competition might be rigged I'll take the over! Somehow he/she/it has lasted 10 days aready!!!
  7. Man tht homer off of the unhittable Eckersley!!! I hated the A's when I was a kid and loved that hr. What a magical moment!
  8. 2 questions: How many warning points do you have? How long does a clear troll get to be around before banishment?
  9. I didn't intend my post to be disrespectful if it came off that way. Just stating that those threads were started after the Bills had already proven to be their same old mediocre selves. I don't need other threads or any for that matter. I'm sure people complained. Just like people complain when it's to sunny outside.
  10. For Blues you have to check out Luther Allison. SPecifically his live in Chicago disc. Chicago Blues has always been my favorite though so it may not be your cup of tea. I don't mind Atreyu and loved Deftones. I still pull out an early album when I feel nostalgic. However 3 dollar bill y'all usually is my go to late 90s album. I haven't caught Amon Amarth yet so I'll give them a listen. Thanks!
  11. 2 answers for you. Mo is getting all of this love because of the absolute class act he is AND how dominant he has been and still is. The behind the scenes stuff is not publicized by him but by sports media. It shouldn't sour you on him. He is treating long term employess at parks to very special treatment because they have been good to him. He is just paying back and showing gratitude to the "little guys" that most players probably don't care at all about. For all of the hate the Yankees get it is hard to argue that he and Jeter have done everything "the right way." (yes I am a Yankee fan and Mo is my favorite player - lay of me ) Secondly, Ripken announced his retirement in June. This link shows you what teams did for him - including the Yankees. Lately it has been difficult to honor great players as most of them have the steroid cloud hanging over their head. Those that do it the right way (Ripken, Mo, and I'm sure Jeter when the time comes) are sent off the right way.... With the respect they deserve. edit: Ripken also won the all star mvp award his last year after announcing his retirement.
  12. Both of those threads were from November. By which time the Bills were sporting a 3-5 record including losses by 20 to the Jets, 24 to the Pats*, and 42 to the 49ers!
  13. Umm no I didn't... I gave reasons why the fact that they didn't sell out in the 90s wouldn't still be true today. It is much easier to get tickets now, it is a much more starved fan base, and the NFL is much more popular now than it was in the early 90s. All of this contributes to the idea that it wouldn't be so difficult (like it was in the early 90s). 20 years is a long time especially if you are trying to pin down fan behavior/attendance. btw I am old enough to remember when the Bills were good. That doesn't matter. What a better question would be is how many season ticket holders weren't in the early 90s? Their behavior will be different because they are different people! Add in the fact that nobody that is a BIlls fan or ST holder has been to a meaningful game in December in 14 years and it changes the data. People that wouldn't go when it is the 4th straight year of Championship game (and are spoiled by success) probably would bc it has been so long.
  14. Yeah sometimes people use that argument and it drives me insane. As if people that discovered this board later than others or lurk more than post don't have as valuable an opinion... Welcome to the board.
  15. People's opinion contradict what others say in every thread. That is why we have this forum!!! Look at WEO he disagree with everything anyone says, look at Joe W he disagrees with any positive news about the Bills, look at the people that wanted Nigel cut for posession, look at the people that said Byrd would never play a down for the Bills again. Yes some people don't like December games because it is too cold for them others enjoy the games. Others love it and feel that it gives an advantage to the Bills. Imagine that!
  16. This is an awfully douchey response for absolutely no reason. Good for you. His point stands though. I have more than 200 posts and fully believe that if the Bills were ever in contention in December people would go to the game. I know you like to trot out the early 90s an example of it not being true but that was before the NFL became the #1 game in America, before this incredibly long drought starving fans of competitive Dec. weather, and before getting a ticket became as easy as downloading it from your computer. It is a different time than the early 90s and football is much bigger. People just aren't going to pay an arm and a leg and freeze for meaningless games.
  17. Seriously just an incredible album. That said what are you listening to these days? I find most of my taste is stuck in a time warp. I haven't found many new bands so if you have suggestions I'm all ears!
  18. This is not as uncommon as you think. He has 4000 hits in professional baseball which is what they celebrated. The HOF is for all of professional baseball which is why it encompasses the Negro Leagues. A football comparison would be Warren Moon, this is lifted off of his wiki page: Moon held the record for most passing yardage in professional football (CFL + NFL career) until surpassed by Damon Allen on September 4, 2006,[1] held the record for most passing touchdowns in professional football until surpassed by Brett Favre on November 22, 2007, held the record for most pass completions in professional football until surpassed by Brett Favre on December 23, 2007,[2] and held the record for most pass attempts in professional football history until surpassed by Brett Favre on December 14, 2008. Last night was a big deal for Ichiro. He became only the 3rd player in professional baseball history to reach 4000 hits. The Japanese league is taken very seriously. When or if he breaks the all-time hits record by Pete Rose he will be the career leader in professional baseball for hits. Whether you choose to recognize it is up to you but it won't change the fact. Yankee haters and Mets Fans that's who
  19. Not my cup of tea. I enjoy metal more than it seems most people on this board. That said it had a distinct Drowning Pool "Let the Bodies Hit the Floor" sound to me. The "melody" was anything I really dug either. That said I can tell they are talented musicians it just seems they tried to force to much into this song. As for the "it all sounds the same crowd" you sound like a bunch of old fogies!!! Metalcore is admittedly my favorite and bands such as Killswitch Engage and Bullet for my Valentine reside heavily in my playlist. Just a sample of each.... http://youtu.be/CgiXVlW-ICE This is a small sampling of As Daylight Dies (the album this is off is spectacular from start to finish) It is making me put it in as 2 separate posts but here is a good video from Bullet for my Valentine. http://youtu.be/TVad3YOO9eo Admittedly they are much more screamo but both are in the same genre. Just a small sample to broaden your horizons (if interested that is)
  20. It's decriminalized in ny too. That still doesn't make it legal. As for the tint that's just an excuse to pull someone over at 2 am. See if they're drunk or not or in this case see if they've got drugs.
  21. Another one of these I shouldn't know but I do.... Less than an ounce (28 grams) is considered for personal use and decriminalized. My assumption is that this is what he had on him. The process is to receive an appearance ticket. Although it is considered to be an arrest there is no booking, fingerprinting, etc... It is akin to a speeding ticket. Not a big deal legally but this will put him on the nfls watch list. This will fall under the behavior clause that was discussed in the deadspin Von miller article. Next instance is 4 games for him now.
  22. Can I just mention that there is no ot in preseason. It has been brought up many many times in many threads. I don't know why Frazier went for 2 but it wasn't to avoid ot!
  23. I have no idea. Then again I have no idea how a shirt choice is me me me either. Just having some fun with you buddy relax.
