  1. I appreciate this post. It is very rational with none of the boohoo but we should have been good. 16 years and counting and he was here for 1 of them. Somehow this team was supposed to be amazing and was terrible. Even though it was a new coach, new system, and way more injuries. This terrible team was exactly 1 game worse than the amazing team. Another good post. I have to admit the pissing and moaning around here has really soiled what is probably the best place for Bills talk for me. The year before with "one of the best defenses you have ever seen" as you put it they finished exactly 1 game better. If the 2014 team didn't get to play the jv pats* squad they would have finished with the same record. If TT plays in London or the refs don't make one of the worst PI calls they finish with the same record. You can play this game every year. Bottom line is the team was 1 game worse. Rex didn't ruin anything he just didn't deliver on the (ridiculous) expectations everyone had this last year. For many reasons... 1. I'm a Bills fan. This is not even close to the worst product they have trotted out onto the field. 2. Rex's history of top 10 defenses makes me think he will get it corrected on the defensive end. 3. Sammy and TT. I can't wait to see if TT has improved and what that means for Sammy 4. 16 Sundays out of the year I get to watch my favorite team play my favorite sport. I am always optimistic when I wake up Sunday morning. 5. I enjoy Rex and his bluster way more than Marrone, Jauron, Gailey, Mularkey, or Williams personality. 6. The divisional record. 4-2 tells me they are likely the second best team in the division. They swept the Jets and Fins which was very enjoyable and got beat by the Pats* (what else is new) 7. The RB combo of Karlos and Shady. With the entire line being back for the first time in about 20 years I am excited to watch them pound the rock 8. Whatever rookie they pick I will enjoy watching and hoping he turns into a stud. Whaley has a pretty good track record since taking over and I can't wait to see what we end up with Last year was the first time that I stopped taking the Bills so seriously and it was fantastic. Losses didn't bother me as much and wins were great. It is a sport for entertainment purposes. As much as I hoped, nothing I do on my end effects the outcome of the game. So I enjoy getting together with my friends on Sunday and watching the game. There is much more for me to list but it really boils down to I am always optimistic because the other choice is to be one of the many people on here that piss and moan constantly. If it makes me ignorant or a homer I don't really care. Every single Sunday I wake up during football season I hope and expect a Bills win.
  2. This many options at 19 is exactly why I feel the best route is a trade down. There are so many guys right around the 19 range that could be fits for the Bills that a trade to 24 or so should still leave a desirable player.
  3. It depends for the bolded. Would Jim Schwartz have the same amount of injuries? The knock on Rex Ryan has never been his defense. He has been a HC for 7 years and not had a top 10 defense 2 of those years. Last year with a new team and players who didn't fit his system accompanied with a rash of injuries and the other year he finished 11th. The knock has always been his offenses. Crashing and burning is hyperbole. Even with this "terrible" defense the Bills finished 8-8. With all the injuries, with the new coaches on both sides of the ball, with a qb starting for the first time, and with the highest paid player on the team giving less than max effort the Buffalo Bills finished 8-8. One game worse than the year before and their second best record in 12 years. Seriously where does the sense of entitlement come from Bills fans that because they thought the Bills should go 10-6 that 2 less wins was a disaster and the coach needs to go. One game worse than the year before and they weren't gifted the last game of the season like Marrone was. This team last year was closer to being a complete team than it has in years. Yet it was horrible and terrible and Rex is the worst coach ever. Get. A. Grip. 8-8, 9-7 the only two times the team has been over .500 since 2004.
  4. Agreed. However Iowa State will be a tough game for UVA and the way they play they are always a candidate to be upset. Cuse has to handle their business tonight!
  5. The MTSU game was huge for Lydon. After getting pushed around all year he really enjoyed being able to physically impose his will. I think that will be huge for this team going forward and hopefully for this tournament. I don't recognize this team and it is a good thing. As long as they maintain the aggression they have shown I think they will win today.
  6. This is a great move for the Browns imo. There is no risk and a ton of upside. RG3 has shown glimpses of being an above average qb. If he turns out to be that the Browns are set. If he is a bust they lose a little bit of cap space. It really is that simple. QB contracts as others have pointed out are out of control. Even if the Browns use the #2 on a qb they will still be paying less for those 2 than the Fins will for Tannehill. 2 cracks at a "Franchise QB' for the price of 1.
  7. I can't believe how many people don't know who he is. Kinda drives home my suspicion that many people here don't watch too many other games besides Bills games.
  8. In reading through the thread on reddit there are 2 schools of thought from both eagles and titans fans. 1. This was not actually offered by the eagles. The Eagles inquired on the price, were told this would be the cost and never made an offer. 2. This is just absolutely not true.
  9. Cooper has been a complete bust up to this point. Now maybe one of the greatest o-line coaches of all time can squeeze something out of him but even if that happens he is also a fa next year. I won't disagree that this is a pretty good deal for both sides but right now if I had to pick a winner I think it is the Cards as they got the best player in the deal. As I showed up thread the draft and specifically the second round hasn't been anything but a crap shoot for the Pats* and Cooper got benched last year for the Cards.
  10. Almost all rankings for defense and offense are done on a ypg basis. Ranking by points is interesting though because it takes into account all offensive turnovers and special teams tds allowed. There is a flaw in any ranking system. For example NE and Indy with Peyton always were at the bottom of passing ypg against because teams threw so much against them to try and catch up. I just thought it was an interesting tidbit. Certainly points in the direction that maybe Rex's scheme isn't as outdated and terrible as some want to make it out to be.
  11. With an all time great team. A team that was one fluke play away from going undefeated. Look at it this way, he was 7 wins worse without Brady.
  12. I made this post for the Rex sucks thread but it got locked before I finished and this looks as good a place as any to put it.... Interesting Rex fact and his outdated scheme In 2014 his D finished 19th. Pats* and the genius 9th. In 2014 his D finished 6th. Pats* and the genius 13th. In 2013 his D finished 11th. Pats* and the genius 26th. In 2012 his D finished 8th. Pats* and the genius 25th. In 2011 his D finished 5th. Pats* and the genius 31st. In 2010 his D finished 3rd. Pats* and the genius 25th. In 2009 his D finished 1st. Pats* and the genius 11th. So his outdated scheme in the last 7 seasons has been outside the top 10 twice and been outranked by the defensive genius BB once. Perhaps some patience to let the guy run his scheme (fully pregnant if you will) we can expect some success.
  13. Yeah I've stayed out of the Hogan thread for the most part but BB is very bad at drafting WR talent. Jeremy Gallon, Aaron Dobson, Josh Boyce, Jeremy Ebert, and Taylor Price going back to 2010. 2009 They hit on Edelman in the 7th but missed on Brandon Tate in the 3rd.
  14. The only bad thing in doing that research is that it seems on years he has more than one pick in the second one of them ends up being a home run lol.
  15. They got a bust and a very late second round pick for Chandler Jones. If Dante Scarnecchia (sp?) can work his magic maybe this will be a good deal for the pats*. In the short term they definitely got worse. Here are the Pats* second round picks lately too... 2015 Jordan Richards (Reach - inactive a lot) 2014 Jimmy Garrapolo (meh) 2013 Jamie Collins (Big Hit) 2013 Aaron Dobson (bust) 2012 Tavon Wilson (bust) 2011 Ras-I Dowling (bust) 2011 Shane Vereen (3rd down back not re-signed) 2010 gronk (big hit) 2010 Jermaine Cunningham (miss) 2010 Brandon Spikes 2009 Pat Chung (hit) 2009 Ron Brace (miss) 2009 Darius Butler (miss) 2008 Terrence Wheatley (miss) 2006 Chad Jackson (miss) So in the last 10 years they have 8 misses, 3 big hits, 2 contributors, and 2 non contributors. Add in the fact that it is a very late 2nd and I don't think this is the great deal for NE some believe. Yup so if he plays extremely well he will also cost a chunk to re-sign. Not nearly as much as Jones but if his career gets resurrected it will still cost them some coin.
  16. Bust - Myles Jack. I get that he is an amazing athlete but the lack of experience at the position and the injury history scare me.
  17. I stand by my assertion that Sanborn struggled mightily last year and that had a lot to do with missed xps. Add in that he had an inexperienced holder and I don't put it all on Carpenter.
  18. This irony in this post. Where was Hogan drafted? How did the Bills acquire him?
  19. 31 teams there. I wonder who missed it and for what reason? Seems strange that a team would skip...
  20. No less than 2 times in this thread have I pointed out how many games were lost by major contributors on this defense.
  21. Teams do deal with injuries and supsensions every season you are correct. Teams also ebb and flow between seasons when this happens. I will use some non Bills examples for you... Green Bay 2014 Offense, healthy Jordy, motivated Eddy Lacy ranked 6th. This year with no Jordy all year, the same coaches, and a fat Eddy Lacy 23rd ranked offense. What happened? Arizona 2015 Offense, healthy Carson Palmer, added an over the hill CJ2K ranked 1st. 2014 Offense, same coaches Palmer hurt in game 9/10, ranked 24th. What happened? Indianaplois 2014 Offfense, healthy Andrew Luck ranked 3rd over all. 2015, same coaches, added Andre Johnson and Frank Gore, Andrew Luck injured ranked 28th. What happened? So without much thought I gave you 3 good examples of injuries derailing units that had consistency with coaching. I only went back the 1 year too! So please tell me again how injuries don't have any bearing on how well a team performs especially losing 2 major contributors.
  22. I already did. Between Kyle and Aaron Williams missed 23 games between the 2 of them. So the best safety on the team and the leader of the d-line missed a huge chunk of time. Add in injuries to Bradham, McKelvin, and Gilmore injuries causing them to miss a combined 18 games and they weren't the same defenses.
  23. I used Drafttek and here is what I got... trade 19 and 174 (895.6 points) for 24 and 87 (895) trade 24 and 144 (773.5 points) for 29, 93, and 186 (783.8) 29 Jarran Reed solves the NT problem and allows Marcel to kick out to DE 49 Jayron Kearse safety is a big need on this team 80 Josh Perry OLB attention given to all 3 levels of the defense and all of these guys fit the 3-4 87 Kamelei Correa OLB LB is a huge need on this team 93 Jack Allen C versatility to play all along the line, nice depth and potential to take over for Wood in a year or 2 114 Tyler Matakevich ILB leader of a tough Owls D and as stated LB is a huge need 186 Cardale Jones QB - no way is he here this late but I will take it! Qb to groom. Gives Rex the tools to revamp the defense in his image, rebuilds the lb group, help for the o-line, and a qb to groom. I would be very happy with a draft like this and I think outside of Cardale all of these players could be available at these spots.
  24. All guys on rookie contracts. Any Qb who has shown the possibility to be good and signed a second contract is making 12+ million.
