Cutting Maybin would do nothing to make this team better. Sure, they could draft Von Miller and maybe he becomes the player Maybin was supposed to be. It would be far better, though, to take a dominant DE like Fairly or Dareus and then start getting legitimate production from Maybin. You get better a lot faster if you not only bring in good players but start getting underperforming players to contribute. I remember it was said about Darrel Talley in a 1985 preview magazine that he "wastes more talent than anyone on this unit posesses." No one could say that about the rest of his career. That's how that team became great. They started making better picks and the players they had stepped up. I think Gailey is trying to light a fire under Maybin by getting him to come to grips of how close he is to being cut. Maybe it works, maybe it doesn't. But there's absolutely nothing to lose by being patient with him.

Let's just cut him right now. The roster spot he's taking up is holding back the team from winning the Super Bowl.

Von Miller's potential in the NFL
Packerland Bills Fan replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Interesting all the talk on Von Miller. This is the week Pro Football Weekly did their mock draft and has the Bills taking him at #3. I like him, but not at that spot. Maybe after a trade down. -
Are safeties worth a top-5 draft pick?
Packerland Bills Fan replied to Orton's Arm's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No, I don't think you do. Perhaps a player has #1 overall talent, you could take him at say pick #8. If not, pass. The question with Peterson is if he is too thick to play CB and has to switch to S. If I were Buddy Nix I would go DL. -
If he falls into round 2, I'm fine with Newton. Gailey has shown what he can do with QB's. Getting picked in the second round pick is no guarantee a player has to be heir apparent at QB. Newton would be in position where'd he'd have to fight for the job rather than it being handed to him. We need a first round pick to make an immediate impact.

Kiper Mock 1.0 on ESPN.com Insider

I could get really depressed thinking about what might have been with Ngata, Revis and Orakpo on it, but in all likelihood Jauron would still be the coach. -

There is. If San Francisco trades up from #7 with a 2nd to take Gabbert and both Darius and Bowers were both on the board. Remember the last time we picked #3? Polian traded down to #8 and picked up a 2nd. -
My board would be: 1. Fairly 2. Bowers 3. Dareus I wouldn't have a fit if Green or Peterson were picked, because of their talent. If the grades are close, though, I'd go with Dareus if Fairly and Bowers are gone because he'd make a much bigger impact. Gabbert has made a big jump up in a lot of places, but is it really due to what he's done or is it because Luck isn't in the draft now? More likely it's the latter.

The goal with draft day trades
Packerland Bills Fan replied to High Mark's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Get someone else to do the losing for us to get the number 1 pick next year. Carolina, Arizona, Cincinati and Denver are all good canidates. -
with the 3rd pick in the NFL Draft.....
Packerland Bills Fan replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Assuming Luck declares he will go #1. Nick Fairly or Da'Quan Bowers would be the pick. Either one would be someone to build the D around. I'd offer the #1 and the #2 to Carolina to get Luck. (The price Atlanta traded up to get Vick in 2001, so it could happen). -
Look at what Spiller did in college. If he never amounts to anything, then maybe the Bills should just trade all their picks away for veteran players and not draft anyone anymore. The thing the Bills needed to do after the Spiller pick was upgrade the OT position with someone like Bulaga or Safford. Troup can't beat out Williams at NT. Carrington may or may not start one day. Trading those two picks and getting back into round 1 to take an OT was what they should have done.

I want Luck more than any other player in college. Playing the Steelers reminds me of the fact that they were loaded with talent on both sides of the ball and were a perennial playoff contender for quite a few years, but had never won the big one since way back to the Noll era. They then won two Super Bowls only after they got their franchise QB in Roethlisberger.

Kiss the #1 pick Good Bye

While the ideal first pick would be a QB with Peyton Manning level skill, getting a top pick that would actually start would be an improvement. -
Codero Howard to Start At Right Tackle...

If they Bills had drafted Anthony Davis, every draft analyst would have said they reached to fill a need. -
Well Sully is dead on this week.
Packerland Bills Fan replied to DarthICE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He now thinks Spiller was a reach @ 9? WTF? Completely uncalled for. Absolutely no one called Spiller a reach at 9. No one. The reason to question the pick was the number of needs elsewhere. What is more painful: watching the Bills or reading these writers B word and moan about the Bills? There comes a time when you have to walk away from both to save your sanity. -
A very heated debate with packers fans all day.
Packerland Bills Fan replied to Cuze's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I lived in Wisconsin for 5 years. I never got much trash talk from them. Many of them told me they rooted for the Bills in all 4 Super Bowls. The time I did get some trash talk was over the fact the Bills never won one. I reminded him that the Bills were never favored by as many as 14 points like the Packers were against the Broncos -
Urbik played both Tackle and Guard at Wisconsin. He started 13 games at ROT as a Freshman in 2005. He moved inside to G after that, except for 3 games in 2007 when he kicked back out to ROT. He went back to G in 2008. He's got a lot of versatility. He'll help with the OL depth, but he was cut, so you can't pencil him in as a future starter. I like that he could be looked at as a ROT.

Here is Lawrence Taylor's height and playing weight: Full Name: Lawrence Taylor (L.T.) Position: LB Height: 6' 3'' Weight: 241 This means that Maybin is the larger player.

Clayton ranks the worst 5 offseasons
Packerland Bills Fan replied to QB Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
All these guys keep saying how bad the Bills draft/offseason was. No one should expect a complete turn around. That's what all these opinions seem to be based on and it's simply not realistic. The Bills have improved. They got a legitimate impact playmaker. The foundation of a much tougher defense has been set. Unfortunately they need another strong offseason to truly turn it around. It's going to be one step backward before moving forward. I hope most Bills fans can be patient with this. -
For arguments sake let's say the Bills had drafted Michael Oher last year and Maybin stayed in school. With Aaron Schoebel threatening retirement a pass rusher becomes the greatest need. If that's how things went I could see him as the pick at 9. He had no business leaving school with two years of eligibility left. That was his biggest mistake. He would have gotten better, not worse, if he had stayed. I'm confident he'll make an impact this year.
