Using interviews to get information on what other teams are doing is a common practice. If the Bills were 99% sure of their guy, why wouldn't they use this opportunity to talk to some other people around the league? They need to maintain knowledge and connections to fill positions.

Long story, short, not enough to get a new deal this offseason. Maybe next offseason. I think skill positions only get big paydays when they're top 15 guys. Otherwise, the contract has to make a lot of sense. You should have guys in the pipeline that can replace at least some of their production allowing to maybe sign a more reasonably priced upgrade at another position. I also stand by my "You have to succeed for as many years as you failed". Let's see what another offseason of him being focused does..

I still don't understand why people think Dorsey would leave if the Bills want him.. He didn't know Daboll before the Bills. His relationship that brought him to the Bills was McDermott. Josh Allen has publicly endorsed him for OC.

Look back at the week before too, in the playoffs, the Bills destroyed the Patriots then the Chiefs scored something like 28 points in ten minutes. Teams making the playoffs aren't even close to being competitive against the top echelon teams.

Your two suggestions were completely awful though and far worse than Edmunds. So you have yet to provide the better ways to spend 12.7 *in* one year. You also seem confused again here because they can't spend the 12.7M they paid Edmunds over 2 years. I can point you to some articles on how it works, but if sign a player to a 2 year contract then you have to pay him both years which counts against the cap in both years. The player also has to agree.. this isn't some little fantasy world where a player is going to accept a 1 year deal from the Bills when he has longer term offers on the table. I should never have mentioned Edmunds in an Oliver thread. Some people can't help themselves.

This is a confusing post. This list is players are ones you think were better than Edmunds? Kyle Van Noy was not a likely option. He wanted to go back to NE. He also got torched in the playoff game right before ours.. you might have seen it. Most NE fans want him off the roster at all costs. Davis was a nice player for the Jets, but he's just as limited (although in different ways) than Edmunds is and was a bust for the Jets. Did you watch him play at all? Probably not because it was a hot minute. So is your evaluation of players off or did you not understand the conversation?

While I think both of those players performed well for rookies and will become better players next season, I'm not sure I want to bank on them becoming consistently good or great players next season. Flashing is one of the silliest terms to use for NFL players. At this level, every player who gets here can 'flash' ability. The value is in players who an do it consistently and the 'edge' position is one of the most difficult to be consistent.
