  1. I'm not saying I don't see some big faults with the guy, but using Peyton Manning picking apart a defense as an example...well...let's just say there's a lot of examples of that out there.
  2. What are the other magic coaches (Gruden, Cowher) winning percentage against teams over .500? I'm also curious where the data on this is coming from, is there a site that tracks those stats?
  3. Man, I was reading the linebackers thread and really got my wires crossed on the names. I'm very curious how that relationship worked and how much power lovie had there.
  4. I'm wondering if anyone has any links or information on Lovie's relationship with Angelo Crowell, the former Gm. I recall reading stuff about they didn't agree on some big personnel moves.
  5. I wasn't sure if this thread was serious. I think you're filling in your emotions for rational thought. They are interviewing people. Even if they don't think a candidate is the one they want, it's a good idea to interview them. It gives you a good idea of what other candidates can offer when making a choice between the guys you do want.
  6. How does this compare to previous coaching searches? Did the Bills hire the first candidate? Last candidate? I think this would be more a case of "It's just so quintessentially what Bills fans think of the Bills." I have a lot of doubts about each of the names mentioned for candidates and kelly is no exception. College coaches don't have the best track record on jumping to the NFL. The questions on whether his offense will work on an NFL level. If he can motivate guys making millions compared to boys making nothing, etc, etc.Given the additional challenges of overcoming the image problem the Bills have as well makes for a tough road to hoe. I know he is the current golden boy of TSW, but he has question marks as well. There is a real possibility that he is not the best fit for the Bills.
  7. I'm curious what his relationship with Angelo Crowell was..I read about some differing opinions on bring cutler in and some other differences on personnel. Do you have any knowledge or insight there?
  8. You put your Brandon Weeden out, you put your Colt Mccoy in...but which one do you shake all about? I wouldn't be too excited about either one. Trade for Trent Richardson and start an all lateral all the time offense with CJ
  9. In a thread that is 90% bashing the guy, it is impressive that you live in enough of a daze to pretend otherwise.
  10. Again, Bowe is unlikely to return to KC. He is a free agent.
  11. Mission accomplished. Even uses a tag as a sub-topic.
  12. As with most things, it usually lies somewhere in the middle. His win/loss record isn't as good as it looks, but he's far from being a bum either. Sounds a lot like a Chicago version of sullivan or schopp/bulldog.
  13. Bowe is a free agent and likely to test the waters, I believe.
  14. If this was the first half of last season, the Bills would be called a great landing spot. It's all about perception and the perception of Buffalo is poor. I don't like shanahan, but I wanted him to come here because I thought he would change that perception. I don't think Kelly is the best choice, but I think he would do the same thing.
  15. I think Graham is a pretty good writer. He's written a lot of engaging pieces, but he strikes me as one of the reporters who are angry the internet exists and it is changing their job. I have had a disagreement with Wawrow on here, but he takes it/dishes it out and moves on. A lot of reporters should learn from that instead of silly arguments like this one.
  16. which is why you can't have a conversation about it. Some people still think that words on the internet are somehow different from words on paper.
  17. Oh, snap! I do like the Ralph is too cheap and Pegula is too rich narrative on his line of thought though. It is a fantastic disconnect.
  18. This thread is already filled with outrage. Wait, I don't think I know what outrage means..
  19. Sports writing suffers from a lack of attribution. A 'league' source could be virtually anybody. It could be sue down in accounting. It could be another reporter. It could be someone that they have a friendly relationship with and the question was phrased, "how do you feel about Reid to Arizona?" Source attribution should be as specific as possible. If your source doesn't want to be named, then you ask, "Can I call you someone from the front office involved in the coaching search for Cardinals has said.." and you go down the line. The further down the line you get, the more you should look for an additional source(s). We're also part of the problem with the way we hang on every ridiculous rumor and go rushing to whatever site has the newest, zaniest information.
  20. Hey, these ideas are much more specials than all the other thoughts on Lovie in the existing threads
  21. That was my exact point. Are they big names because they have superior skills as a reporter or because they have a podium? Sullivan gets hammered because he's a poor writer and often writes entire articles that have no more depth than "BILLS SUCK!"
  22. Are you saying the Bills defense would be as good as San Francisco, Seattle and Cincinnati if Fitzpatrick played better?
  23. No. This idea is all wrong. Being a 'columnist' doesn't give you a free pass on the facts or doing actual reporting. Sports writing has always been like this...the internet has just opened up access and illuminated some weak writers who used having the podium to maintain positions.
  24. So you can't answer what the option besides Russ or Ralph is and you have a problem with them interviewing all potential candidates? They should ignore potential candidates before even meeting them? The complaining isn't valid until you can answer who should be making the decisions.
