It is on Fitz. He threw the Int and could not move the ball on the last drive. Its on him.

Don't kid yourself into thinking that we actually won the game. If not for the 38 yd FG miss, we would be crying right now. Chan did all he could to give them the game including the bogus punt from the 35. At this point, we were lucky not good in winning accidentally last night. We ordinarily lose that game in 9 out of 10 tries. No we are not good and will be fortunate to win 8 this year with a QB who has no arm.
-
Poor call by Chan. You have to kick the 53 yarder to win and punting is a losers move in that situation. Reminds me of DJ ball. They had no trouble from 61 so we punt from the 35? Thats playing to win?
-
I see today that Georgia Tech fired their Def. Coordinator. So, why cant we..
get over it
-
No but Chan is a bit soft. The team lacks a real hard ass leader especially on D. DJ started the problem which to some extent still exists. We have no real big hard game changing leaders on D which is why against the jets and pats, we fell apart as soon as things got a little rough. It is a violent game but we have too many soft players.
PS Stick your warning points! They are 2 years old.
-
Namath. The only QB to win them a SB.
-
Joe Montana without question. Manning and Brady can fight for second.
-
Meaningless question. Would you feel better if Eli or Brady was the QB?
-
Its very simple: Thigpen and Vince are gone. Both were either not smart enough to pick up the plays or not good enough to execute them.
-
Well it was another disappointing game but I guess it was expected with all of our injuries. Looks like we are gonna have the 10th pick in Aprils draft. I'm thinking our start for a new defensive coordinator will begin on Black Monday. Who we will end up with I have know idea. I expected more this year when we picked up Dave W. I thought he would have more input on Defense. Never really heard too much about him all season. Got mixed feeling abot Stevie J. Drops a ton of balls and then makes a great play...sigh. Wish he could have learned from Jerry Rice instead of T.O. I remember reading that Marv Levy told Thurman that once you get into the endzone act like you have been there a hundred times before. Always thought it was cool when Thurman handed the ball to a ref after he scored. Well with hope for next year I'm keeping the faith. I'm cool with Buddy and Chan. Not sold on Fitz....a mean as nail pass rusher that gobbles up QB's sure would be nice!!!
We have at least 10 black mondays each season.

Taking his stats from the Jets game and extrapolating...Spiller "could" have had the following this year:
229 carries for 1,189 yards (5.2 ypa) & 8 touchdowns and 2-3 fumbles
64 receptions for 499 yards (7.8 ypc) & 5 touchdowns
I think Spiller is an exciting player, and obviously Fred is a great back as well. What floors me is Fitzpatrick's pass attempt numbers:
This year Ryan Fitzpatrick attempted 569 passes which is approximately 20% more passes than Jim Kelly threw in his highest pass attempt season.
WTF Chan !!!!!
IR after 8 full games. Too small.

I think something will happen soon. I think Nix, Whaley, and Gailey will want to get things in motion as soon as possible.
Yup, need to gear up early for the next 6 & 10 season. If not, they may be 5 & 11

Heres my take on why fitz greatly regressed after a fast start...(which in part I blame Gailey)
in order of his biggest problem to the smallest...
1. Fitz became enamored with the idea of not being sacked, and so, threw the ball almost every play at the two second mark. The problem with that was, only slants or quick go routes could be thrown. How many times did we see dropped slants, tipped balls that got picked, and sideline "long" balls that were picked? the recievers just dont have time to get open in 2 seconds. yes being sacked isnt fun but sometimes you have to go for longer routes, more play action and the threat of a run via a rb in the backfield would help with that.
2. Fitz under-threw almost every "deep" ball he attempted. Thats why they either fell incomplete or got picked. Very few were actually completed and none were to wide-open receivers who could catch and run with them. They were all highly contested jump balls. you might say its his arm strength but he threw much deeper in his first two years here, he has better mechanics now so Im thinking its that hes too used to throwing the slant and just doesnt have the same touch on deep balls. he throws them very flat and not far enough.
3. I cant believe im going to say this one...Fitz needs to dump the ball off more...ok ok I need to take a deep breath. After the living hell of watching a certain someone dump the ball to running backs on nearly every play, we go to a qb that virtually never dumps the ball off. Ya he throws to the rb but thats a different route that ends up being contested. I wanted to see the ball get dumped to a blocking RB that breaks late into the empty space that the secondary leaves behind 2-3 seconds into the play. I saw fitz force alot of balls to covered guys just as Fred or CJ would run out into a wide open flat.
4. Fitz threw to his first read nearly everyplay. I watched his head and eyes when possible on my HD 48 inch and my hd dvr. He never turns his head! Hes so smart he was usually correct about his read before the snap, but how many times did he throw to covered players as we watched other wide open receivers throw their hands up??? I saw that alot. Ever notice when he threw to triple covered receivers?? he just didnt turn his head.
Notice i didnt mention accuracy. I think fitz would be a great qb if he had a coach that could tell him to throw with more arc, throw to the runningback when everythings covered, and who gave him some better plays where running is actually a threat and receivers run other patterns besides slants and go routes. I know fitz can chuck it, he did it so many times to TO and Evans before. Isnt it funny how every year we get a qb who start throwing two basci patterns? Losman was all about the skinny post and the streak, Holcolm loved the 5 yard out and the 5 yard in, edwards loved the dump off and ...the dump off. And now Fitz is in love with the slant and the go route.
Ok I still think Fitz a good qb...hes obviously got some talent and I fully blame gailey for his regression. The receivers run basically a slant or an in or a go route. So its either short and easy to cover, or its long and hard to complete. Gailey also calls too many empty back field sets on third and short, why take the running threat out of the equation? ever! Then he puts the back in the backfield he tells the other team "draw"! how bout you run routes that are medium range since the back or TE can stay in sometimes and pass block??? Gaileys offense is far from genius and is basically one dimensional, its not even close to our last, somewhat effective OC, I cant believe im going to say this...Mike Malarky, remember him?.
He nneds a new life

It seems as though in respect to one player in particular , i watched something totally different from others that are fans of the Bills .. I will admit that after we signed this player what happened almost immediately after i thought we made a bad decision but what i saw the possibility of in preseason made me think it was a better decision than i thought at first .
If you haven't figured out just who it is i'm talking about by now it's Shawn Merrimen . The flash that i saw in the Chicago game this year & pretty much through out the preseason was what i expected him to be right from the start .
I feel that seeing as he is under contract for this year we need to at least bring him back for OTA's & see what he has got . If with what i have read with his operation and all that his tendon wasn't ruptured he should be good as new (hopefully) . Plus if you look at what Takeo Spikes has done after we let him go because he did rupture the tendon then i don't see how Merriman at his age can miss .
And i would like some of you to answer this for me . From what i watched of the Bills this year our D was doing pretty dam good until Merriman went down , then when we lost Williams & for get it after that !! But while Merriman was on the field (it seemed to me any way) we had some pass rush like we did the year before Schobel retired & as long as we have something that resembles a pass rush we get INT's , FF's & all that good stuff . But when it's gone as it did when Schobel left & then this year when Merriman went on IR our D goes down .
So i don't get it when i read all of these posts or reply's that say Merriman's done , we need to get rid of him blah blah blah !! The guy is still in his 20's he has a great work ethic , is a high motor guy & is a veteran presence in the locker room . The only way i can see to not bring him back is if he comes up lame after a few OTA's then cut him & use his money else where but don't do what the Bills usually do and cut our nose off inspite of our face .. I'm just saying !!
Your Turn !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Merriman is finished. The bills will always suck.

Personally I feel we are. This season is a let down after such a great start, but we had a lot of injuries this year, more than most teams deal with in 2 years. I'm encouraged with improvement. If Jackson and Johnson are both back next year and we draft well this year, I think we will see a very competitive team take the field next year. And if not, well that's why you drink beer before and during the game.
maybe if we draft correctly and pay a few free agents perhaps we can get to 8 and 8 some day.

Posted this elsewhere but thought it would be better if in its own topic...
The few sites I have been on have the Bills slotted in for the 11th pick. Buffalo can pick anywhere from 9-13 depending on various outcomes. The games that affect slotting are as follows.
# in front of team is their current pick
9. Carolina @ N.O. - N.O. is still playing for a bye so they will prob try to win this game
10. KC @ Den - Tebow vs. Orton no way the league lets Tebow lose this game and not make the playoffs (yup I said it)
11. Buf @ N.E. - Pats* still playing for something here
12. Ari vs. Sea - 2 7-8 teams and one will have to win I think Sea will
13. Phi vs. Wash - I think Phi wins this game big
14. Sea @ Ari - see above
15. SD @ Oak - SD has a harder strength of schedule so this game doesn't matter as even with a Buffalo win SD would still be behind the Bills
16. Chi @ Min - see above and Chi will prob win this game anyway
Picks 12-16 are held by teams that are 7-8. SD and Chi both have harder S.O.S. so it doesnt really matter what they do. Ari and Sea play each other so one of them has to win. If the Bills lose with a KC and Car win (both highly unlikely) they would move back to the 9th pick and the win against the Broncos wouldn't have cost them anything (in regards to a draft pick).
The bills can move ahead of KC even if they both lose due to the closeness of the strength of schedule.
uncommon opponents
KC - Det, Min, Ind, Pit, Chi, GB
Buff - Cin, Phi, NYG, Wash, Dal, Ten
when looking at the schedule for KC's teams Det and GB play each other so that game is a wash as well as Chi and Min. that leaves Ind @ Jax and Pit @ Cle - I have a feeling that will be a split leaving there uncommon opponents at 3-3 for the week. To get ahead of them we need to do better than that.
Buff has 2 games that are a wash as well in Phi vs. Wash and NYG @ Dal. That leaves Cin vs Balt and Ten @ Houst. If cincy and Ten both lose (very possible) our strength of schedule will become worse than KC and move us ahead of them in the draft order (assuming we either both win or both lose this weekend.
So in summary root for Ind, Pitt, Balt, and Houston to improve our draft spot ahead of KC. Hope this helps and wasn't to confusing.
Nice job but none of it matters!

A few weeks back I heard something about Fitz' contract ... that after the first year (this year) the Bills had the option to let him go and be off the hook for the remainder of his contract. Is this real? Does anyone know?
I hope it is true and I hope he is let go. I love the guy, and I recall when he filled in for Carson Palmer several years back ... did an aewsome job and I was happy we got him as backup. But the last several weeks say it all ...regression and losing. Clearly NOT the answer.
Even average teams don't lose 7 games in a row.
Bills must have the worst luck of any organization ... over committing to Dick Jauron during a winning streak and then the same with Fitzy. What a friggin bummer.
eat it, cut him and move on

Before their respective teams realize they are holding them back. Both teams are dumbing down their offenses for them and they still struggle. Both the jets and ravens would be much better off with about 20 other starting QBs. They have the David Carr(early in his career)effect where there for some reason are long periods of a false sense of improvement created by the media. They are both operating on borrowed time.
so what does this have to do with the bills?
-
This is going to be a controversial topic, I know, but I was wondering when the last time a non-white Bills player got a big contract extension?
We've seen players like Schobel, Kelsay, Fitzpatrick and K. Williams (he definitely deserved it) all get good contract extensions. But, they couldn't give extensions to Jason Peters, let Jabari Greer walk, Antoine Winfield, and now Stevie Johnson (as contract talks broke off, because the team couldn't come close on numbers with Johnson's camp).
Is this just a coincedence or is someone (or some people) not willing to pay non-white Bills players a large payday?
Grow up and stop sounding like an idiot!
-
Apparently Nix has rejected Steve Johnson's last contract proposal. What happens if we don't sign this guy. That puts us in a situation where we will need two starting WR next year along with major starters needed at LB, DE and at CB. Not to mention that they seriously need more depth at almost every position. If they don't fill some needs during free agency and resign some of there key players, this team is two or three drafts from contending.
Gailey says they need 10-12 starters and they may need a few more if they don't sign some of their key free agents. Then you couple that with the fact the Cuomo won't commit any money to improving the stadium and this team looks done.
Three straight blacked out home games this year along with two or three years more of rebuilding. More black out games to occur in the next two years based on this lousy product and this team looks primed for a move to Toronto or LA.
He is not worth it. He drops game winning TD passes. Remember Pitt?
-
Not even close. This one stat doesn't support that. I for one think Miami is in much more shambles than we are and have been, among other teams like Jax, Browns, KC, St. louis, Vikings, Washington. I wouldn't take any of these teams over ours.
Sad when we are aruging about who is the worst team in the league!
-
Face it. Whatever this staff is doing, which isn`t much. Is going to be wiped clean with a new owner, in the near future. So we will be going in another direction soon. Another rebuilding stint. Just hope it`s in Buff. I`m not getting any younger.
Please write in full sentences.

Im not happy about posting this, but it's only a matter of time.
Not sure which is the worst part of this video?
-The Bills fans turning on themselves.
-The fact that this is typical behavior at the Ralph.
-The empty seats.
-The weak security that cant control this small female.
-Or the comments about the Bills from all the talking heads....
Anyone know this "classy broad"?

We have a lousy coach, a terrible QB and a D that stinks. Its really that simple.
