Text of Owens conference call with Boston media
Metal Man replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Unfortunately, no matter what TO says or what he really meant, anything that comes out of his mouth is going to be spun and used by ESPN and the rest to make it look like he is being his bad old self if they can get away with it. This shouldn't surprise anyone because it is part of the cost of bringing him in. It is just something we will have to deal with all season. -
There is something so strange about this board

What two teams will make it to the Super Bowl this year?

Titans v Bears -
That's weird. I thought for sure I read he was going to be taking his old Super Hero job back with the Justice League of America.

Game on in Syracuse Thursday?
Metal Man replied to Mister Defense's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I read on the message boards a couple days ago that they would be showing a replay on Saturday on a Syracuse area station. I doubt it will be on live tonight though as the black outs carry to Syracuse during the regular season. I get my channels out of Syracuse too, so I hope I am wrong. -
I am curious as to why you would post a thread about going to Boston when you didn't want anyone to comment about things to do there.... Was this a social experiment to see how many people would blindly ignore your statement about not giving advice? Well add me to the ignore list and take my advice to pi55 on Fenway if you get the chance.

Anyone with Wiki program experience?
Metal Man replied to Just Jack's topic in Off the Wall Archives
We use Drupal at my current job and used it at my last job for documenting and sharing info between engineers. http://drupal.org/ It isn't too difficult to set up and very easy to manage and use once you get going. You just need a database box to store the information and a host box. We are using Apache for our server. -
What have you seen that is positive?
Metal Man replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No serious injuries. TO hasn't mouthed off yet. Maybin finally signed and looks like he could help. And haven't lost a game that counts yet. -
I was just thinking the exact same thing. They have an entire area in the Islands of Adventure theme park dedicated to Marvel. I would imagine once this goes through that would be likely to change seeing Universal is Disney World's only real competitor as far as major theme parks go.

Please - be honest with what '09 will be...
Metal Man replied to CarwellGardner's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Great post.... but there is nothing really new there. Both lines have been a big problem for a long time now. That is the most frustrating part about it all for me, after a certain amount of time you would think we would at least be heading in the right direction, but instead every year we seem to be starting over. -
I'm surprised both of the two season predictions listed on here have the Bills losing the opener to Tampa. I am not overflowing with confidence after the performance in the preseason so far, but I would think they are going to be good enough to beat a team undergoing a complete overhaul in a rebuilding year. Especially playing in the Ralph for the home opener. That being said, if they do somehow end up losing that game it definitely will be a precursor to a long season and to keep on topic DJ should be gone shortly there after. Unfortunately I agree with the people on here who think we will likely have him all season no matter how many games they lose.

Going to Toronto for the weekend. Any suggestions?
Metal Man replied to Phlegm Alley's topic in Off the Wall Archives
This place is a little pricey, but I enjoyed it when I was there a couple years ago. http://www.thefifthgrill.com/ -
Ha, yeah it definitely isn't the genre I lean towards. I was in a book club a few years back and it was someone's pick one month so if not for that I probably never would have gone near it. Book club probably isn't the normal place for a Metal person either, but FYI for all the single guys on this board... it was almost all women.

Question about tattoos in the workplace.
Metal Man replied to Hazed and Amuzed's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I work as an engineer for a company that does government contracts and we have all sorts of types here, management or not. Maybe the business world is still super strict but everywhere I have been in my 10 year career hasn't had much of an appearance code if any at all aside from the obvious. -
Not sure how the movie will translate.... But it actually was a really good book. Not an overly sappy chick book at all. Definitely had a romance story line but the time travel aspect made it very unique and the story is very well conceived and constructed. Likely the movie will not be great, but I recommend the book to anyone who likes to read.

Excellent post. These are great rules to go by. For myself it is usually a little simpler. If the people in front of me stand, I stand. If they sit, I sit. If it turns out I am standing the whole game, so be it. The only exception is when there is a big play I automatically jump up too and as someone else on this board posted I tend to also do this even from my couch. I don't see why this should bother people so much. And I agree with another poster that it is even more annoying to hear people yelling for other people to sit down. Every time I hear that I think to myself "Have you ever been to a sporting event/concert before in your life?" That is the way it goes for these events so if you don't like it the no-brainer is just stay home.

Who could be the Bills next head coach?
Metal Man replied to Metal Man's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
All very good arguments. Please pass them to RW ASAP. -
Pats rookie cb butler likely too guard lee evans in opener
Metal Man replied to NishP's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's not really bashing. Just observations. Maybe our talent just absolutely sucks, but it seems like the patriots are always able to find the one weak spot and hammer the hell out of it where as the Bills seem to run the same offense and defense every week no matter what. -

Metal Man replied to Metal Man's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Shanahan wouldn't be my first choice either, but like you said anyone compared to DJ..... I would prefer someone more in your face too. Someone who gets crazy fired up on the sidelines. Cowher would be perfect IMO, but I am sure he is waaay out of Buffalo's price range. -

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Shanahan...coaching_record Looks like 4 times since 99 with a couple 3rd place 9-7's thrown in there. Go back a little farther and you have the superbowls too. I am not saying he would be a savior because he is a g0d among coaches. Just that it would be nice to have someone come in with a proven record of success rather than no resume or one loaded with mediocrity. -

Metal Man replied to Metal Man's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly what I am thinking. It seems like he is going to just keep trying to win the coach lottery on rookies or has-beens. Shanahan would be great though. Maybe as Wilson gets up in age he thinks why not break the bank and just go for it one time....? Probably just a fantasy though. -
Seems like every year all the Bills fans I know, at least the last decade, start talking about who the Bills could possibly bring in next year to replace the current dud. Names like Cowher and Parcells and others of that caliber are always coming up in these discussions. A lot of times, especially with Cowher, it seems like a great idea and exactly what the Bills need to seriously make an attempt at turning this thing around. But based on Wilson's track record it seems he would never be willing to part with the money it would take to bring someone high profile like that in to coach the team. My question is does anyone out there really think it is possible that maybe in his late age he will be open to dropping some serious coin on an awesome coach? Or are we always going to have a rookie head coach or middle tier guy, and if so who would that be?

If it was our rookie corner covering Moss you know that Bellicheat would find a way to exploit that all game. But for some reason I see DJ and Schonert not bothering to take advantage of this at all. -
It does seem ridiculous for the rookies to get paid more than a lot of vets for having done absolutely nothing as a pro. However the union seems to be starting to get behind a rookie wage scale lately. That is a good sign that something along those lines will be implemented in the near future. Hopefully this is one of the last seasons we as fans have to deal with this nonsense.
