Dark Knight Rises - Midnight Screening Roll-Call
Metal Man replied to ajzepp's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Me too. I am definitely in the likely smaller camp that doesn't like the 3-D movement. Mostly seems like a cash grab to me. I read an interview with Nolan a while back and he said the studios wanted him to do 3-D for this film but he refused. Gained so much more respect for him after that. -
Dark Knight Rises - Midnight Screening Roll-Call
Metal Man replied to ajzepp's topic in Off the Wall Archives
One of the theaters near me is showing the first two leading up to the midnight showing of the new one. Starts around 6pm I think. I was considering that or just the 12am show but I have off tomorrow so I'm planning on just hitting up one around noon. Can't imagine it will live up to the last film but I hope it comes close. -
In no particular order: It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia (glad to see it getting a lot of love here) Arrested Development 30 Rock Trailer Park Boys Better off Ted (short lived but really funny) Cheers Night Court Reno 911 Saw some people mention Saved By the Bell and Soap, those didn't come to mind immediately but I enjoyed both of those a lot as well.

Is Dunkin Donuts a Buffalo thing? Interwebs say it was founded in MA.

just saw Roger Waters perform "The Wall"
Metal Man replied to The Poojer's topic in Off the Wall Archives
http://youtu.be/WhTWU_dg2MA Video I took at the last First Niagara show back in June. I was in the 200s across from the stage so not close, but you can hear well and get a decent feel for the visuals, though this particular song doesn't come close to the multimedia displays that occurred during the night. -
just saw Roger Waters perform "The Wall"
Metal Man replied to The Poojer's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I saw it twice at First Niagara. Music was also fantastic. Roger Waters surrounded himself with excellent musicians for this. Only pre-recorded stuff was for the speaking and/or sound effects intros to some of the songs. However even though it was music being performed live it is hard to compare it to a normal concert because it was much more than that. Definitely one of the best live music experiences I've ever had though. -
"Exclusive Ticket Presale" today
Metal Man replied to BillsWatch's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Really? I wish I would have tried. The e-mail I got with the code in it said that the first two were already sold out which I thought has been true for weeks. I realize they will slowly release tickets as it gets closer that were held for seasons but I am surprised that would happen so soon. -
Buddy Guy first and foremost. Joe Bonamassa is also another great blues guitar player. Others to definitely look into: Michael Burks Roy Buchanan Savoy Brown Albert Collins Charlie Musselwhite Coco Montoya Johnny Winter Guitar Shorty Joe Louis Walker John Mayall Fleetwood Mac (original lineup with Peter Green) Luthar Allison and my personal favorite Son Seals.

Recommend a good stand-up comedian to watch
Metal Man replied to Just Jack's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I'll add another vote for Bill Hicks. There are a couple specials of his on Netflix streaming. -
I see absolutely nothing wrong with that behind.

Joe Buck Joe Buck Joe Buck And one more vote for Dan Marino.

Two terrible films that immediately came to mind were a couple that I saw in the early 90s in my late teens. I think I may have even skipped school for them which was the only reason we didn't walk out because we were poor teenagers and needed to maximize entertainment money. I wouldn't be surprised if no one has heard of them. To me that is a mark of a truly terrible movie and not just one that people are largely polarized on liking which is what a lot of offerings on this thread seem to be. (It actually took me about an hour of internet research to rediscover the titles because most of my memories of these films had been purged, and rightly so) Hardware: 1990 Man's Best Friend: 1993

Other than 97Rock for the Bills games I use it to listen to 97.7 HTZ-FM out of southern ontario and 102.1 out of Toronto. Both are rock stations that in my opinion play a good mix of old stuff and new stuff without hammering you with the same old songs most popular rock stations play over and over.

I asked him if drafting or signing a certain FA is ever even slightly influenced by what the fans would like to help ticket sales. It didn't make the cut though... not that he would have answered anything other than absolutely not most likely but it would have been interesting to get an honest take on that because I have always been curious how much that thinking goes into the process.

Another vote for Tune-in Radio. Especially during football season so I can listen to 97 rock pregame. Skype or Facetime so I can see my niece back home. For games, Doodle Jump, Temple Run, and Fruit Ninja seem to have gotten the majority of my time. I'm surprised no one mentioned the mobile Bills app... unless I missed it, but during the season it is great. Within a couple hours after the game they have video of a lot of the player/coaches press conferences. And yeah that app that lets you call people is pretty cool too. bbb - If you don't have access to iTunes to update to ios 5 I think you can bring your iPhone to the apple store and they will update it for you.

Draft format...old way or new?
Metal Man replied to Dragonborn10's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This does ruin a lot of the excitement of the draft. I love how the analysts still sit there and pretend the pick is going to be a surprise when everyone in the world has already seen the obvious player on his cell phone and crying for the past 5 minutes. And for the record, Saturday by far for the first few rounds for me. Made for a perfect all day party that usually coincided with some of the first nice days to be outside for us around the NYS area. -
Robert Meachem visits Bills, signs with SD
Metal Man replied to mrags's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Weird how everyone is saying confirmed but neither the espn nor yahoo live FA blogs are showing anything.... Smells like BS but I hope it's not. -
Well sorry for the sky-is-falling defeatism. SU still has a good team and they do have a lot of depth but losing a big man's presence down low like his is going to hurt any team's chances at winning the entire thing whether you're a balanced "team" or not.
-
Just heard that terrible news myself before I checked here... If we thought their rebounding was poor before... wow! Hope you all have time to change your brackets.
-
I'm surprised you didn't mention Robert Meachem. He has size and speed to be a good deep threat and is going to come a lot cheaper than someone like Vincent Jackson. Also he has been playing in an offense that spreads the ball around a lot so you wouldn't expect to get any complaining out of him about not getting the ball enough. I would expect there to be a good chance of a lot of complaining coming out of VJ so for the money I think Meachem would be a great pick up for the Bills to upgrade their passing attack.

1st: Floyd. 2nd: Curry. 3rd: L. David. 4th: Acho. 4th: Egnew
Metal Man replied to NewEra's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like Floyd a lot more after watching a lot of the combine yesterday too. I think 10 might be a little too high for him though. I'd love him in round 2 but I'm sure he won't last that long. I really liked what I saw from that QB from Wisconsin, Russel Wilson, as maybe a third day pick for the Bills. Would need some development over a few years for sure but his speed and athleticism seem like they would be a perfect fit into Gailey's offense. -
I found this to usually be the case too for myself. But for WVA last weekend I got there about 1030 and there were only a few spots left. Maybe there was something else going on that morning but the attendance ended up being over 28k that game so with that in mind I am planning on getting there even earlier for UConn in case it does end up being over 30k.
-
East Adams St is where you can find a few good lots close to Marshall, and Faegans is a block up towards the dome from there. I usually park in one of those lots but like another poster mentioned it could be pretty crowded for UConn. If you're not parked in one of those lots by 1030 they are likely to be full. Varsity is a decent pregame spot too, right next to Faegans, if you're looking for pizza/wings type food. But again it gets pretty packed by 11 so you need to be there early.

Bills most disappointing loss since the Super Bowls
Metal Man replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was at that game and it definitely was a tough loss. The Kelly fumble was BS, but IIRC it was Natrone Means running wild all over the D that did the Bills in that day. Seemed like for a couple years there the Bills D just did not have an answer for those big punishing backs.
