Bills to pull out of Toronto deal per Mark Gaughan
Metal Man replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The main issue with non sellouts is bad publicity for the area and the NFL. The main chunk of the money is already made regardless. The reality is the Bills have the 12th largest stadium in the league in one of the smaller markets but the blacked out games still usually draw well over 60k. If we had a stadium around 65k or less capacity like the bottom 9 teams in the league the sellout thing would never be an issue. -
Bills to pull out of Toronto deal per Mark Gaughan
Metal Man replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It is going to be a pretty exciting day for you if the Bills finally get moved to another city. The thousands of opinions you've posted about how crappy the fans are around here for not correctly supporting the team will finally be validated. -
That was pretty funny. I don't have an xbone yet but I'm not sure I will be talking to it for things I can do with a button push when I finally do.

A couple of my friends sold their twp Duke tickets for 1000$ total. They sit one over from the student section. Seems insane to me someone would pay that much. I get the excitement for a new big ACC opponent but they will be playing them plenty of more times at the dome. I talked myself out of seasons for a similar reason. Just seemed a waste for all of those non-conference games in November and December that were mostly laughers. And for the bigger conference games tickets are occasionally floating around so I end up going to some of them anyway. For this Saturday I was able to get two tickets for only 15$ from friends of friends. They are decent too, 311. If not for that I'd be just as happy at home or a local watering hole with some junk food. Definitely my plan for the Duke game. It is going to be chaos up on the hill.

I've been in the area almost 10 years now. When I first moved from Buffalo I was in the "sarah" crowd. Eventually some friends corrected me on it and I then trained myself to be in the "seer" group so that I didn't sound like a tourist. Everyone getting out to the big UNC game this Saturday? I lucked into a couple just last night.

Thought this was worth sharing for any SU and Sabres fans who might not have seen it: Tyler Ennis and Tyler Ennis http://www.syracuse.com/orangebasketball/index.ssf/2013/12/tyler_ennis_syracuse_basketbal.html

Welcome to the Ralph - Slam Dunk Competition
Metal Man replied to MClem06's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I didn't notice that anyone else mentioned this but it is probably worth noting that at the start of this season a handful of the Bills players were tweeting out videos of them doing this "surprise dunk on each other thing" in the locker room. IIRC there was even one of Fred Jackson dunking on Coach Marrone. In any case it is more than likely where these guys came up with the idea. -
If Miami wins out and the Ravens win out not only could the Bills cost the Pats* the division but they could knock them out of the play-offs all together. I know, it's likely just a dream but it would make for an awesome season ending despite everything that has happened this year. http://espn.go.com/nfl/playoffs/machine

Question for everyone....
Metal Man replied to Canadian Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm mostly with the consensus in I definitely would not be a Bills fan. I can't imagine ever caring about another team nearly as much so I'm pretty certain I would be done with the NFL all together. What scares me is what if the Bills remain in Buffalo as a home base but start sharing the games with Toronto 50/50? They'd kind of still be staying but really not.... No idea how long I could sustain being a fan with that. -
New overtime rules are awful. Great article attached
Metal Man replied to Estro's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think this is the way it works. If the team that wins the toss doesn't score at all the game becomes sudden death. The only real difference from the old rule is that if the team who wins the toss kicks a field goal the other team gets one possession to try and beat or match it. -
Also I would add to this list that some of the newer games require you install one of the disks to your hard drive to be able to play and those take up a lot of memory. GTA 5 does this as well as the online version of Halo 4 as an example.

I will throw Tulane fans in there seeing it was the same stadium. Went down there two years ago to see Syracuse play Tulane in the Superdome and agree with everything everyone has said about how welcoming their fans and business owners were to all of us in our Orange gear. The stadium itself it also pretty amazing. Definitely one of the best football viewing experiences I have ever had.

Congrats. We were parked right across from you guys. Looked like it was a good time over there.

Annoying Announcers and My Thoughts
Metal Man replied to voodoo poonani's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Do you do anything special to get it to sync up? I would love to listen to the buffalo radio call for every game but the timing is always a little off. I must have said the exact same thing about 100 times during the game. My gf started to laugh at me because even when he was saying something good about the Bills I couldn't help but be annoyed by him. -
I was thinking it could have been that the last email she sent with attachments was the nudes to her bf and then when the box came up for attachments it already had the picture folder populated and she just hit OK without thinking. But still she had to have been half asleep during this process.

2013 Bills and Defensive Takeaways
Metal Man replied to Luis Mendoza's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If you haven't been able to see the difference in the way this team is playing compared to the Bills teams of recent history then you haven't been paying very close attention. -
What a disappointment to come to this thread and see it is NOT about these guys: http://youtu.be/G5uamDMoW4o

That was a little disappointing. I was expecting to see some of the photos he took so that we could at least fairly judge the severity of his crimes.

Hard not to agree with this. The museum part is cool to visit and walk through if you are a big music fan but the inductions are definitely a bunch of music industry generated BS. Not the most decipherable version of English but I love this letter the Sex Pistols sent to them in response to an induction.

Expressions That Are Not Memes, But Need to Die Anyway
Metal Man replied to Rob's House's topic in Off the Wall Archives
http://youtu.be/QH2-TGUlwu4 I'm surprised this 100 million+ viewed monster hasn't made an appearance in this thread yet. Can't have memes without it. -
I don't think it should be underestimated how good of a team Cincinnati has right now. They seem solid in every position. With the exception of Denver I am having a hard time naming a team in the AFC that I am certain is better than them. KC? Reid has them playing pretty solid football right now but I still need to see them beat someone better than Dallas or Philly. New England? Somehow they keep putting together wins when it seems they should lose, plus Cincy beat them head to head. Indy? Maybe, they are playing well too and have better QB play. In any case Cincy has to be one of the best few teams in the AFC right now and a beat all to hell Bills team still could have won the game. I'm disappointed for sure but this 2-4 doesn't feel the same as the dead in the water 2-4 teams of years past.

This is another good point. My grandmother had season tickets for over 40 years and during that time missed maybe 1 or 2 games. Then the last 6 or 7 years of her life when she couldn't go anymore she was punished by not being able to watch the team she loved despite being a taxpayer and not to mention directly supporting the team financially for years. It is easy for us somewhat younger folk to say "if you want to see the game go buy an f'ing ticket" right now, but I suspect when the bulk of us hit our 70s and 80s we will be singing a different tune.
-
True. When I still lived in the area I would say about a third of the times the game didn't sell out, and I didn't already have a ticket, the threat of black out brought me to the game. But this weekend it was the availability of a good deal on a ticket, and a group I know already driving out thus making the 2+ hour drive a lot more manageable, that prompted me to attend. If it wasn't for that I would be watching a crappy internet feed like the rest of the Bills fans out in the Syracuse area or farther who didn't want to make the drive.

The 75 mile radius is correct but there is a lot more to it. Any tv station that can reach into the 75 mile radius also can't broadcast and in the mid 90s it was determined Syracuse can reach a small section of east Rochester so now anyone using the Syracuse cbs affiliate is blacked out and this rule affects viewers as far out as Rome and Utica and even a little more east than that. Hence my 200 mile statement. (If you aren't sure this is accurate, search the boards as there are quite a few threads mentioning it whenever the black out is debated) Not looking to really argue the point because it has been done to death on the boards, just saying not everyone fits into the situation exactly as you described.
