  1. An extremely dominate D can win Super Bowls. Ravens have done it, Tampa did with Trent Dilfer as QB, Steelers nearly made the super bowl Big Ben's rookie year on the back of their D.
  2. It's kinda sad, like he has some serious issues.
  3. Great post by the OP. A fun game, I'll give it a try: QB: Green Bay if depth is not considered. But the Eagles due to depth. Winning a SB with a backup is solid, and Wentz is good. RB: Saints. Ingram and Kamara are the best 1-2 punch in the league. Also, will be interesting to see Jonathan Williams while Ingram is serving his suspension. Close second is the Falcons. New England could be a surprise here with rookie Sony Michel plus Jeremy HIll, James White and Gillisslee WR and TE: Steelers. Taking the best WR in the game in Antonio Brown, paired with a great rookie in JuJu Smith, along with a promising rookie in James Washington and you have the top, without even considering the TE position. Jesse James has improved every year, and I expect will see even more action this year. Houston is close here with Hopkins and Fuller. The Raiders look interesting with Cooper and Nelson (who was on fire pre-Rodgers injury), but have too many question marks. (is Cooper really a WR1? How will Nelson fare w/o Rodgers even though Carr is good, and will M. Bryant be good, or is he washed-up. O-Line: Cowboys. Hard to argue with this one. D-Line (excluding pass rushers): Rams. Even before the addition of Shu, A. Donald was dominant. Now they are paired together. Pass Rushers: Agree with another poster, so I'll just copy him: "Chargers. Broncos could be there as well, but Bosa and Ingram are insane." If we are talking D-line rushers, then I'd go with the Jaguars. Underappreciated group: Arizona Cardinals, with Chandler Jones and Markus Golden. Line Backers (Off ball): I'd go Vikings as a poster above stated, Barr and Kendricks are fantastic. I also think Barr is undervalued. Another option is Seattle, with Bobbi Wagner and K.J Wright and Mingo. But Mingo is a huge ??. Can Pete Carrol do another turn-around here!? Secondary: Bills. I think the Jaguars are over-hyped here. Are they great, yes. But the Bills have what looks like 2 top 10 corners in White and Davis, and top safeties in Hyde and Poyer. The entire pass defense last year was reliant on great coverage due to our inability to rush the passer. Imagine what will happen if we can pressure the QB this year! Special Teams: Ravens. Justin Tucker is fantastic. If the Rams could get into FG range more often, he would be more valuable in fantasy!
  4. if this somehow happens, the board will shut-down, and thread would exceed 500 pages. And I will love every minute of it and buy a Mack Jersey--which I also predict will top NFL Jersey sales.
  5. Interesting that Lawson is not a starter, and that Foster is so far down the WR depth-chart. Although this could be that the coaching staff already likes Foster and wants to see what the others do. AJMcPeterman
  6. this nonsense needs to end. The "drum-line," mascots, etc. It's pro-football. Cheerleaders, bands, etc. belong in college. And I'm not "old-school," but this stuff is just annoying.
  7. same here. People in Pittsburgh think its funny, and know that it's a tiny amount of the overall tailgaters. Most folks want to come up for a game because there is a lot of space to have a real tailgate, something you don't see in most other NFL stadiums. 100% spot-on. A lot of fans travel to come to the games. It's an all-day or multi-day event (get in night before, go out, tailgate, game, drive home).
  8. some secondary depth, from what it sounds like!!
  9. We can handle a few guys like this. Zay had his bizzare issue during the off-season. And missing curfew while injured (i.e. not playing) is not a huge deal in the grand scheme of things. Not a "perfect" character background, but for a 2020 7th rounder, yeah, I'll take the risk at BoysTown Buffalo!
  10. right now, wouldn't Landry appears to be the #1. https://www.clevelandbrowns.com/team/depth-chart
  11. I'm talking about as of now. Right now, Gordon is MIA, and Dez is a rumor. Right now, the Browns traded away TT's number 2 for a 7th round pick---in 2020.
  12. To answer your question: It's Cleveland doing Cleveland things. Really, it's almost comical and I feel bad for TT. TT has one of what I would consider his top 2 WR's leave and go to his old team, where they had 1 legit WR.
  13. I'm expecting 50. Let's break the Mario Williams record (was that the record?)
  14. I see your point. I think our QB's have the ability to mitigate the pressure and hang in the pocket more than TT. TT was one read and run. Your overall conclusion is spot-on: the GM is building a sustained winner that can win now and the future. Plus these guys will likely all be back next year. I think we go pass-rush and offense (RB--2nd or 3rd round) in next years draft. It will be interesting to see how TT does with more weapons this year. Oddly, one of them (Coleman) is now on the Bills!
  15. I like the 2018 offense MUCH more, at least on paper. Here is why, in descending order: 1. New OC. Even if everything else stayed the same, the new OC will be a vast improvement. Daboll will have these guys ready and will make more adjustments to opponents week in and out. 2. More aggressive scheme. I expect our QB's to take more chances for big-plays. This will lessen the "8 in the box" and help the running game. How smart they are with ball placement will determine if this leads to more INT's or simply more in-completions. 3. Healthy Benjamin and Coleman. This is NOT a bad WR group...on paper. Let's see what they do on Sunday's. Add in TE Clay and Kurley, plus depth with our rookies and some vets, and I doubt it is as bad as we believe. 4. Running game. Won't need to ride Shady all day. A great complement of backups in Cadet, Ivory, etc. 5. O-Line. I'd say this is a wash: Wood was a great character, smart, and tough, but I'm not sure he was an "all-pro" center. Above average, without a doubt. But I think Groy can pickup the slack like he did 2 years ago. Incognito may have declined this year anyway given his age. But hopefully Miller can step in and revert to form.
  16. and don't forget Pitt Grad Tyler Boyd! It's great to see the media reporting on these good stories. A lot of good in football, but "good" doesn't sell in the media.
  17. this may win the award for most "philosophical" post of the year. Yeah, sometimes I'm like, "why do I care," then I can't answer it. I think people are naturally competitive and want to win, and when you have less control over the outcome (such as being a fan at home), you become even more crazy about it!
  18. an interesting but not unlikely scenario. Esp. if we can get a 4th or 3rd. Will all depend on how Allen looks in preseason. I'm not in the "Nate Peterman" is the franchise QB camp, but I do believe he stays around longer than McCarron, who may be too expensive to pay after 2 years here. He may find a starting job elsewhere, and Peterman is Allen's backup. I also think Peterman would not clear waivers, he'd be picked up by the Colts or some other QB thin team.
  19. It's WAAAAAYYYYY to early, but I can't help it. I'm excited about this draft class, both the drafted and UDFA guys. How has Levi Wallace looked during camp? Was happy we got him, as we need some DB depth.
  20. I've read he is one of the more impressive rookies in camp. Would be fantastic if Foster and Phillips can become factors in this offense, even as quality depth.
  21. it will deepen after week 2. Because whoever wins the QB battle, will look awful after week 1
  22. Good point. But, to be fair, the D line last year was abysmal against the run. So with a guy like Phillips ahead of him. A. Washington could be cut. Esp. if a better player is cut from another team or becomes available. These 1 on 1's seem difficult to grade for me. There is another narrative that Miller is MUCH IMPROVED. So, is Washington bad, or is Miller dominant? How's Miller looking against Phillips? Can't wait for preseason games!!!
  23. I hope so. Last year Groy never played, even during injuries. He was "saved" as a backup center. And I'm not sure Ducasse is better than Groy. Miller, yes, but I'd like to see Groy get more reps with the #1's at Guard.
  24. totally agree. I mean it's terrible to have a QB with a bit of swagger. Just look how Kelly, Brady, Big Ben, Brees, Manning (Peyton), Rodgers, etc. have panned out. You need some confidence and swagger to be a great QB, IMO. I like it. He is serious at camp, and has fun with the fans. Sounds like the perfect DNA for a franchise QB. I really hope he pans out.
  25. it's puzzling to me why the coaching staff is not moving Gory to guard, or even seemingly considering it. Perhaps they will.
