  1. love the idea of a LB/DB bracket. I'd use Poyer, I think he's the better run stopper of the two (Poyer or Neal).
  2. I'd like to see Duke up here. I think he makes some "uncatchable" catches. Cole on the bad is interesting, but yeah, the drops were surprising. I think once him and Allen get more on the same page in game environments, he becomes a pro-bowl caliber year! He was always open yesterday. He can become an extension of the run game the way the Pats use the run game with their slot receiver getting 4-8 yard chunks. I think Foster shows up. If he had a bad toe injury, then even if that's healed, he's not fully in shape yet cardio wise. I'd give it a few games. Very glad we have Brown, he is a beast, and the Singletary pick looks great. Lawson was everywhere. Great point about the second effort. He likely isn't a guy who gets a sack in a first move, but he can bat it down, or provide a sack on cleanup. His technique and effort were outstanding yesterday. WE'll need his run D v. Barkely!
  3. Cleveland is going to be pissed after how they started against a very surprisingly balanced Tenn team. I won't be surprised though if this game ends up being high scoring. The Cle D allowing points to Tenn is worrisome, but I expect OBJ and Mayfield to exploit the Jets secondary.
  4. Beasley and Brown all day??? Some Singletary to control the clock? Hopefully Foster is back!
  5. Hyde on Engram would be good. Still not sure even Milano on Barkely is sufficient. Perhpas Milano/Poyer combo? Looking forward to it. We have a great D. They should be up to the task. But Barkley is a beast. He will get his, but we can't let him beat us.
  6. interesting read. I hope and think Shaq will continue this trajectory. He's always been solid against the run and is a much improved pass rusher. He keeps this up, it would be money well spent. Then draft someone to play opposite him/provide depth while Hughes is still playing at a high level. One "vet" and one "rookie contract" pass rusher is a good format, IMO.
  7. what happens if you picked Arizona or Det? (tie game). I picked the Ravens, btw. week 2 is tough. I'm thinking I may go Browns over Jets. Would take Ravens over AZ, already used them. Or I could go Pats over Miami, and just go team playing MIA all year?
  8. yeah I started Beasley in daily fantasy. Beasley will be okay for you. Lots of ability to have big yardage games. Crowder is going to be a PPR beast I think.
  9. the safety was bizzare to me. Why not QB sneak it. The Jets DL is very good, and you're handing Gore the ball in the endzone. Get out of the endzone. Have Allen fall a yard forward.
  10. He looked off the safety, so I'm not sure he saw the flag on the play. I think he was intending on hitting JB with Beasley as a 2nd option. Perhaps too optimistic there, but I think it was just a great play.
  11. Bell is elusive. It's hard to tackle him for some reason. That said, we need to tackle better. Barkley will be a good test for the new DL.
  12. of course, the announcers were terrible. I think one thought J. Brown was on the Jets at one point. You make your own "luck." If we played like the Jets in the first half, we'd be complementing our D on getting tips and converting to INT's, and for getting the safety. The tip was a poorly thrown ball by Josh, and the safety was terrible play-calling. I"m not sure our O-line was dominating the Jets in the 1st half. The D-line was dominating the Jets OL, but not our OL in the first half.
  13. I'm sure the Bills will learn from watching the first half. In fact, they seemed to learn quickly and made the necessary adjustments--a point I've made numerous times in this thread. Watching the 1st half in isolation, which is what the OP is doing, simply isn't enough. The 1st half was as bad as it was. Plain and simple. Good teams don't march around the field and get zero points. If he wanted to say the game wasn't as bad as it looked, okay then, based on the halftime adjustment. But the first half was bad.
  14. that's what we did in the 2nd half. If we focus on the 1st half: terrible. Second half: amazing really. we adjusted on the O-line, playcalling, Allen was better (threw the ball away a few times). Really, it's the type of adjustments we have been waiting for Bills coaches and players to make. Finally happened, and we won. Good sign going forward. not at all. But if we are talking about the 1st half, it was terrible. And really, based on Bills history, no one could have predicted a better second half. The second half, as I pointed out in other posts, was very good. Many adjustments were made, including the O-line coming together, more Singletary, and better decision making by Allen. The safety look off on the JB TD pass was also nice.
  15. looked right on the money to me. Right over the DB. If that's not "pinpoint," then what is. ask any NFL coach what a pick 6 and safety in the 1st half with 0 points are. A hot mess might be the kindest think you'd hear them call it.
  16. this is going to be very helpful going forward. If Singletary can run the way he did, and Foster gets back, we have a very hard O to defend on paper. Underneath routes, long bombs, and running game all available.
  17. The Bears D is the best in the NFL. The Jets have no secondary, and looked like the Bears D in the first half. Plenty of O around the NFL yesterday. Ravens dropped 59, Tenn scored 43 on a good D, LA put up 30, PHL and Washington featured almost no D, DAL droped 35, even ARI and DET put up 27 each.
  18. The defender was camped in front of the WR. I don't think anyone believes that was a "just missed" TD. It was another "bad" throw by Allen. This isn't Rodgers, Brees, etc. who you can say, "oh, random misplaced throw." The 2 point conversion was a pinpoint throw by Darnold, not sure how that was luck. That was a 5 year ago Big Ben type of play by Darnold. The Bills were a HOT MESS in the 1st half. There is no way to sugarcoat it with "well, we almost didn't turn the ball over." The halftime adjustments were fantastic, but the 1st half was really, really bad. Including the play-call of handing it off in the endzone against the Jets D. That should e a QB sneak to get it out of the danger zone there.
  19. Great points about the team looking young. I also think with so many new players, it took them a while to get in rythym. I expect the O line in particular to look much better this week. will be interesting to see if Manning handles the pressure as well as Darnold. I was really impressed on a couple of plays by Darnold (mostly in the 1st half) of him avoiding the rush. But with the game on the line, Darnold faded. Manning won't do that.
  20. stopping the run will be key. I'm not sure what to do with Milano. As @Virgil points out, having him cover Barkley ensures good tackling. ON the other hand. E. Engram is a beast of a receiving TE. Perhaps put Edmunds on Engram and Milano following Barkley around? Otherwise, rush Manning and he should throw and INT or two.
  21. I like this. Allen had some bad body language late in the first half. Not sure what happened at halftime, but the D--as usual, never melted down even when the O was scoring points for the Jets. The O line eventually started to gel, Daboll used Singletary to get some yardage and open up the passing game. Good in game composure and adjustments following atrocious play in the 1st half.
  22. I'm not a hater by any means, and I really appreciate the OP putting this together as it highlights positives that the Bills can and hopefully will build upon. Some of Allen's INT's were not his fault. The fumble/sack was. He also got lucky. The Jets dropped a pick right before our first FG/points of the game. All in all, the 1st half was as bad as it was. Driving down the field to turn it over is BAD. Good teams (Pats, Saints, Seattle, etc) don't do this. It was a positive that we can move the ball, but we need to finish drives. Close only counts in horseshoes and hand-grenades as the saying goes.
  23. YOU. You are Mr. Positive in the game-day thread! I did not expect the offense to generate any points after going down 16-0. I thought the D would continue to play well, but didn't see any positive plays coming from Allen. However, Allen wore out Mosley by continually throwing the ball to him, and alas, he couldn't handle it. Mosely goes out, Bills come back.
  24. I hope Foster's foot heals quickly. I'm guessing the plan is to get him on the field with Brown. Try to cover them both with Beasley and a TE going underneath. Chunk play time!
