  1. I love the Yannick addition, but I fear the Jags will tag him, etc. That said, we absolutley need a TE in FA. Getting Hooper or Hunter will provide two great Big targets for Allen. That quickly changes the offensive dynamic. I'd also get Conklin, and put Ford at OG. Ford is not a OT. Speaking of offense, I'd keep Yeldon, remind Daboll that he is better than Gore and has great hands, and also draft a RB. That's a good backfield with Yeldon, Singletary and rookie.
  2. another reason in a long line why Daboll needs to go.
  3. disappointed if we don’t add a “big receiver” and TE at the same time. A guy like Hooper or Hunter is a 2 for one deal. Two good TE’s are a young QB’s friend and create mismatches.
  4. @Kirby Jackson;, what are your thoughts on K'Lavon Chaisson? You seem to know a lot about LSU, and I just saw one mock having us take him in the first. https://draftwire.usatoday.com/2020/01/07/2020-nfl-mock-draft-wild-card-playoffs-3-rounds/5/
  5. I love the idea of Kamara, Hooper/Hunter at TE, draft a pounding back in Rd. 3-4, and getting a WR/Edge in the 1st two rounds.
  6. I think Joseph will be the guy. I was pumped when we drafted him. That said, I imagine we bring in a FA or another pick as competition. Hopefully Lorax will be back in a coaching capacity and able to help Joseph the way Williams helped Oliver.
  7. Sorry to be late to the party here @MAJBobby, here are my thoughts. With better play calling, and another TE in FA, we will have the best TE unit in the NFL and terrorize opposing D's. This is the best position to upgrade in FA on offense that can lead to increased offensive productivity next year, IMO. 1. Knox is a TE1. Yep, that's right, this guy is and will be a TE1. Below are some stats of Knox compared to other TE1's rookie years: Knox: 28 receptions, 388 yards. 2 TD's. Kyle Rudolph: 26 receptions, 249 yards, 3 TDs. Zach Ertz: 36 receptions, 469 yards, 4 TD's. George Kittle: not too far off, and what I think Knox could have done if used properly: 43 receptions, 515 yards, 2 TD. All in all, Knox rookie year projects as a TE1 if used properly (more on that below). Catch rate/drop rate, usage issues (Daboll issues): Knox catch % may be offset by the fact that a lot of balls thrown his was were very difficult catches (look at some of the amazing catches he made). Also, does that low catch % account for passes like the 2 against NE where Allen missed him wide-open in the endzone? In terms of drops, I don't recall him having a bad drop in the latter half of the season. I do recall an amazing catch against a few teams. He needs to be targeted more often. First, repetition cuts down on mistakes and drops. Second, a young QB like Allen, or any QB really, benefits from having and using the TE's for short routes. Look at Brady when he was at his best, Big Ben, Jimmy G., L. Jackson, Wentz, etc. all use the TE more. Play calling has been awful for the TE position. The Steelers, for example, are bad against TE's. (Henry ate them up). What do we do, throw to Knox on the first play of the game, from our 10, for a 11 yard gain where Knox pushed some defenders around. Great start that could have gotten Knox and Allen in rhythm. Knox is then not targeted again all game. Blame: Daboll. Knox is also great after the catch. I'd like to see him get some TE screens like Balt runs, or run the ball himself. He ran the ball once this year against Cincy for an 11 yard gain. For all the creative "genius" that Daboll is tabbed with, I don't see it. He can't even do a RB screen, much less realize he has a young QB and needs to get the QB and TE on the same page more often for both their benefits. How to make TE elite, sustain drives, score TD's not FG's. What to do: That said, why not have two great TE's. The Eagles, Ravens, and MINN do this. Even the Pats did this. Short hits up the field on 1st or 2nd down for 5 yards to the TE sustain drives, eat the clock, etc. So, go out in FA and get Hooper or Henry, who are both fantastic. Good luck covering Hooper/Henry and Knox. (Hooper and Henry are both 6'4"/254 lbs, while Henry is 6'5", 250 lbs. I'd prefer Hooper or Henry over AJ. The TE gives us a big target, and we can draft a WR. But I'd love getting Hooper/Henry and AJ). Score 25+_ points a game: We also have the benefit of having a good catching RB in Singletary, as well as 2 good WR's, and whomever we get in FA and/or the draft. Add another TE, get an actual creative OC, and we should score over 25 per game next season. On passing plays Allen will have a ton of options, and we can simplify the game for him by keeping it 2nd or 3rd and manageable with throws to Beasley, or a TE on quick routes. What other team used a slot WR and TE's, oh, the Pats. What team uses a 2nd year QB and a quality running game and 2 TE's: Ravens. Knox and Hooper/Henry can also pick up large gains with their athletic ability. If we do nothing else on offense in FA, getting Hooper/Henry would have the biggest impact, IMO. (I'm not saying we don't have more to do, I'm saying this will be the biggest bang for the buck if the TE's are used properly).
  8. I like the idea, the guy is a dynamic athlete, but not for a 2nd. Still need an edge and WR or OT in first 2 rounds.
  9. as long as we are not cheating with Brady here I'm fine w/ that. But I'd take almost any NFL QB over Brady at this juncture. If we are going after a SB winning QB, lets get Brees.
  10. current status would be fine. I'd like a better backup, however. The passes that Barkely threw vs. the Jets were described as "weak armed." I think the position group that we can most easily turn into elite on offense is the TE, but I'll wait for that day to post my thoughts on why there.
  11. I'd add Dalton into the mix as a backup. However, if Henne is helpful, I'd add him. I agree about having a vet on the sideline. Would have helped for someone to talk to Allen during the Houston game, for example. I'd also look at Bridgewater for that role. And if Allen is not the answer, he becomes QB1. Although I see Teddy in LA or NE (barf).
  12. and he was on fire all game.
  13. they really need to start firing nfl refs. too many are lazy and don’t care. make them earn their jobs like the players. bring in refs from college to replace the ones who are not up to par.
  14. I think he does. at least gives a shot
  15. Hooper (or Hunter) and Knox combo would be great. Having 2 good TE's is very beneficial for a young QB. (see Balt and Philly).
  16. the phantom blindside block. One, it didn't happen, and two, put us out of FG range.
  17. I hope you are correct. But the Dolphins can be much improved depending on their FA and drafting, and the Jets should be better (likely coaching holds them back).
  18. 50-1 seems about right. Our schedule is brutal next year. If Daboll is back, I doubt we make the Playoffs. Will need to score over 20 against some very good D's.
  19. The Pats will get a FA QB to replace Brady. Someone like Bridgewater, Tanny, Brees, Rivers, etc.
  20. we need a "barf" emoji for posts like this!
  21. McD only knows conservative offense apparently. We need a new OC. And yeah, Duke dropped balls, but Allen also threw 2 pick-6's that were dropped. Why he is having a QB who is clearly rattled making throws to the outside like that is beyond me. It's like Daboll ignores what is happening in the game and goes with pre-scripted play calling.
  22. I love this idea. But Daboll makes Kamara inactive and starts FA Peterson instead.
  23. someone like Dupree would be nice. Gross-Matos??!
  24. depends on who else is available at 22. If he is the BPA on our board I'd take him. We either have a good backup, JA replacement, or at worst, trade bate. Plus, you can run plays with both Josh and Tua in the backfield.
  25. because Daboll cannot judge talent. Using Gore last game, not activating Yeldon or Duke until the playoffs. this happened far too often against Houston (ball at feet). Do they practice these plays? Or is Daboll just pulling them out on gameday? And knowing it's Allen's first playoff game, perhaps running motor there is the better call?
