2 points why we need a better running game: 1. QB’s who become the leading rusher of a team do not last long. 2. Keep defenses honest. If they sell out to stop the pass or blitz, a well designed and executed run can get 20-30 yards.
I think both the blocking and lane reading by RB’s were an issue last year.
yeah, this bodes well for putting our 1T hopes on Star. No excuses for the D this year. It’s on Bean and Frazier if they are subpar again. With our secondary we should be much better at pass rushing and run D.
First, great find and thanks for sharing!
My analysis of some of this. It seems off:
1. If Harrison Phillips is cut we have huge issues and no real 1T other than hoping opt-out Star will work.
2. This also assumes all the drafted players make it on OL, and no FA OL like Lamp make it. I see Lamp as a starting or backup Guard.
3. Hodges will mot be cut. By some reporting he was better than Gabe lass preseason prior to the injury.
there was one for Lee Smith!
just too much “hope” on Bean’s part here. would be nice to have at least one guy that you hope is going to make a leap, isn’t rusty after a year, or finally figures the position out.
yeah, until the playoffs.
that’s part of the problem. D’d like LC and Cle and Indy and Balt can just tee off on Allen now. you need a functional running game to make the D honest.
still don’t buy it. foolish strategy to hope Motor, who regressed, will somehow make a leap forward. I hope it happens, but it’s another gamble by Bean
they allowed themselves to be contacted too quickly. Motor was supposed to be shifty.
i just disagree with not making RB a priority and blaming blocking/scheme. Motor looked sig worse last year talent/ability wise. Moss looked promising. I like the Breida signing a lot. I can see him replacing Motor more than Yeldon. I figured we would get another in udfa at least for depth.
All that RB talk aside, 1T is a glaring need and the strategy so far appears to be hoping harry and star can perform adequately.
this says it all. not a single player from the draft projects to make the bills better in 2021. lots of potential guys for 2022, and no rb snd 1T is a head scratcher.
the later picks make more sense then the early picks to me. someone should pick for Bean in Rd. 1-3, except Josh results so far have underwhelmed.
Agree. Dane balled out last year. was surprised they didn’t play him more.
