If Brady retires, would you want Gronk for one season here?
RyanC883 replied to Peace Frog's topic in The Stadium Wall
Gronk actually specifically stated that might not happen. If Gronk does not retire with Brady, why would he keep playing. One scenario could be to help the Bills win their first SB. Gronk and Knox would be amazing TE combo. -
I actually had the same thought yesterday after the game. And, if KC gets it in FG range, they likely just kick it (well, if we had enough TO's). Then we get the ball back, and that at point, Allen could likely have gotten into FG range. Just something to think about. Crazy, yes, but sometimes it works. Not endorsing the idea, but an interesting thought. At the end of the day, the idea is no more crazy than what we actually did. seems the half-a** rules did not accomplish much since it's still sudden death. We should not be gassed due to our rotation of average DL men. In any event, I think a playoff OT change is coming. OT may not change in the regular season perhaps, but it must change in the playoffs.

I need help with my coping mechanism...
RyanC883 replied to Long Suffering Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
I like it!! We will find out soon if our owner/gm is committed to winning, or just being "good", ala 1990's Dolphins. -
Frazier needs to go, period. The D was way too soft and predictable all game long, really, all season long, and last year also. Bend and don't break is great against the Mac Jones, Jets, Falcons, etc. We faced 2 elite QB all season long. We went 1-2. We got shredded by Brady in the 1st half of the Tampa game, then lost in OT. We beat Mahomes in the regular season when he was adjusting to new coverage looks from D's, and lost in the Playoffs (again), after he figured out the defense we and others used against him, yet we used the same D against him as in the regular season that he clearly figured out by that time. Next year we face several elite QBs. We need a better DC. Not pressing at the LOS on Kelcie and Hill w/ 13 seconds left is horrid. #1 ranked D was inflated by facing 2 elite QB's all season long. It was a cupcake fest. And lets not forget his inability to stop the Colts. They scored 45 points on this D running the ball all game. Frazier is bad. Timid, bad, and does not understand that his scheme does not work with our personnel. If we had a guy like TJ Watt it may work, but it does not work with average front 7. It's putting a TON OF pressure on the secondary, which held up really well all year.

I agree, but the pool analogy lost me saying he has the highest ceiling?

forgot about the 2 3rd rounders. I'd rather he walk because he is WAY too passive. His defense is from the 90's, and he fails to adapt in game. The other team knows what he does, adjusts, and he has nothing. The failure against KC was epic, and quite frankly, if he does not get another job should be fired. yeah, does seem to be a thing. Also seems to be we only play aggressive against the cupcake QBs.

Is Patrick Mahomes to Josh Allen what Jim Kelly was to Dan Marino
RyanC883 replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yes, if this FO and Coaching staff continue to mismanage talent and games, that is exactly what this will become. We did not improve roster wise, KC did. We got outcoached, although I'm not even sure we did, we outcoached ourselves by making mistakes a good HS coach wouldn't make. interesting with the numbers on Allen. This is when we need to open the bank for impact players on the front 7, and perhaps another WR to make defending this offense horrific for D's (I mean, it already is, but moresoe). -
when is Bean's press conference. I want him to answer this: (1) what did you do last offseason that improved the team? (2) why did you not get Von Miller when he was easily available at the trade deadline? (3) what will you do this offseason to improve? (4) how do you grade Frazier playing the same D all game against KC that KC knew was coming?
-
not sure Greg R. and Basham should be "proud" of their rookie season. They were drafted to stop KC according to many. Mission failed. Either that, or Bean is insane for drafting DE's to stop KC, because you need a proven vet to do that. and GM, who refuses to go after proper FA talent at pass rusher and covet, then waste, high draft picks. man, I hope your right, but our schedule next year is brutal, and if this team had the pride/respect you think they would have, they would have stopped KC at least 1 out of 3 times in the last 2 minutes and OT. But they folded. We need a guy with that on the front 7 and at DC. Offense, totally agree. What JA did was historic, what the rest of the team did, esp. on D, was historic in the other way.

I like some of those guys. Esp. Hodgins was highly regarded, I think more so than Davis as a rookie, then kept getting hurt? Quintin Morris was a stud at Bowling Green I think. That of course means nothing, but he could turn into a capable TE. Perhaps he can attend TE Univ. Seemed to help Knox a lot.

Anybody welcome the team back from the airport?

https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/news/bills-chiefs-collapse-playoff-loss/1f6g9dv6ilm1m1kk4306nz58jf Great article about Defense. Well, not great, but good analysis. -
that's funny, no one is giving up on the team, but come on, are the celebrating a season that ended in a terrible fashion, with terrible defensive play that stretches back to last year, with yet again moronic coaching decisions and a GM that failed to upgrade the roster? not giving up, but really pissed. But this is what you get when you change nothing.

not just that 13 seconds. Recall we were up with 1:11 left before getting gashed. The D was awful. I'm mad at them also. So much promise, and coaching and failure to upgrade certain positions led to this result. if Frazier is back next year that's a sign that McD and Bean are okay with just being okay. -

oh I believe it could be worse, but that does not mean you celebrate this. Winning teams deserve to be celebrated. This season was nothing to celebrate. We were not some underdog that was expected to go 8-8 who eeeked out getting to the Divisional Round. We were picked to make the SB after last year and failed to improve. Nothing to celebrate there. well, the offensive players or JA and Davis perhaps. The defensive players should have taken the bus with Frazier and McD. -
haha. opened up Davis. Where the heck was that all year. Oh, Daboll. But to the other guys point, #1 WR's get open against triple coverage. Hill did it, D. Adams routinely does it. Diggs was MIA, but could be Daboll, could be Allen was like, "Gabe is open or singled and going there," which is smart. Get a real OC in here.

thanked them for what, exactly. Another playoff appearance? That should be the expectation, they failed miserably in the final 3 minutes and OT. If you could cheer the offense or JA in particular, fine. But the defense should have been sent back on a bus. -
The OT format is a joke. It's like if MLB just let the first team up to bat win if they score more than 1 run. Total joke. Follow the college format.
