  1. Today's Draft. Loaded up on offensive talent. Could have used a safety. 27. Jaxon Smith-Njigba WR Ohio State (BPA, and position of need. nice). 59. Jahmyr Gibbs RB Alabama (elite OTs likely gone, and somehow he was still here. A very good RB that in other drafts would be the top RB). 91. Luke Wypler OC Ohio State (fantastic center to bolster the IOL. Unclear, however, if he can play Guard until Morse retires.). 130. Jaxson Kirkland OT Washington (can play OT or Guard. Gave up no sacks last year) 139. Nathaniel Dell WR Houston (small/slot WR who can also lineup outside. Rated by some in the top 10 WRs in the draft) 205. Cam Jones LB Indiana (lengthy 6'3" LB. Light, but from what I read can shed some blocks. Decent Edmunds replacement).
  2. i mean, not a terrible draft if this is what Bean does. I like the Vorhees and Patterson picks, potential day 1 starters. Hate rounds 1 and 3, although Smith may be our best rusher outside of Mille, but I'd rather go OT. Simpson looks like a playmaker all over, and if we get a creative DC he would be very dangerous.
  3. my only issue here is the lack of a WR. We would need one in FA, and that's fine. Sometimes these mock drafts do not let a instant contributing WR come to you (see mine above). The first three rounds are great. Love this draft. Top 3 rounds are instant day 1 contributors, IMO, and you managed to get a WR, OT, and C. (in my mind, the best C, and perhaps the best OT). Like McIntosh as the RB, and the other 2 I have no idea about, but another G and DL sounds good. Only issue here is lack of LB to replace Edmunds, hopefully that is addressed in FA then.
  4. depends, if he really wants to be released to play for a contender he might. We should def try, if he says no, then I'd draft Overshow from Texas or the guy from Ark whose name I cannot recall. I agree Edmunds is likely gone, and that's fine, we get crushed on D with him there and without him there, so I'd rather spend big money on offense. (again, would only want Wagner at a good deal, but he is better than Edmunds, so ok spending money there, then instead of drafting Overshow this year, keep drafting offense.)
  5. 2nd for Donald and give them Ed. Not sure it would work, but if they want picks, this would be fantastic. Also, no clue on the cap issues for Donald, can they eat the cap? I only watch him when Diggs is abusing him, which Diggs does to many CBs. But Ramsey contract likely too much. Keeping Jackson may be better use of CB money. Spend on a WR/OL in FA or trades.
  6. Here is today's mock draft. Pretty happy with it. Looking forward to all comments. Will need to get a FA WR, however due to how the draft fell. 27. Peter Skoronski OT Northwestern (kind of a no brainer here. Played really well against some of the better rushers this past year) 59. Jarrett Patterson OG Notre Dame (can play guard, then slide to center to replace Morse. Good player who plays till the whistle) 91. DeMarvion Overshown LB Texas (Edmunds replacement). Lengthy LB. 130. Ronnie Hickman S Ohio State (seems like a good Poyer replacement or DB depth. If @YoloinOhio comes back, he could provide more insight here. Some other Big 10 fans may be able to also. 139. Kenny McIntosh RB Georgia potential 3-down back this late, sign me up. All Dawgs backfield. 205. Jalen Cropper WR Fresno State (seems like a slot WR with some ability to stretch the field. Good intermediate pass catcher if Dorsey can figure out calling those plays. I'd bring back Beasley and let him learn from him. Again, would need a legit #1/2 in FA opposite Diggs.
  7. KC's OL was MUCH better than ours, giving Mahomes more time, as well as allowing a 7th round RB Paccheo (sp) to look like a #1 RB. Their other RB was also an elite receiving threat.
  8. Steelers did this also when they won 2SBs. They would not take Edmunds with a huge contract or Poyer, but would replace them. You can’t lay 2 studs at every position (Edmunds and Milano, Poyer and Hyde), esp when protecting the QB and giving him weapons is more important. I don’t think Knox os a concern is Dorsey uses him properly.
  9. O’d be okay with Harrison there. Smith will be a disappointing pick to me unless we get an OL anD WR in FA .
  10. outside of Allen, ouch. (well, Teller good pick, but not retained).
  11. any thoughts on Quentin Johnson? I have read he is big and fast with strong hands. Sounds like a great guy opposite Diggs?
  12. i like that, not even a draft pick for him!
  13. Appreciate the breakdown. But, Go Pitt!!
  14. I’ve thought about this also. Ideally if we didn’t have cap issues we could trade early picks for impact players. But this route is out. In terms of drafting later rounds, Bean does a good job, but not so much in finding impact players as contributing players (Jackson, Spencer Brown, Cook, etc). I think now we are stuck hoping Bean gets an impact player in Rd. 1 and 2.
  15. what do you think it would take to get him? my picks: Top WR, whoever that is, followed by top OT, then edge rusher.
  16. this sums it up nicely. We didn't have a great OL last year, or WR depth. We failed to adjust to this. Going forward, we should fix the OL and WR, but will the coaches be able to adjust to what they have as the season moves along (injuries, players doing better or worse than expected, etc.)--or do they simply stubbornly stick to their "process/system." yet, KC still manages to get the 1 seed. Which is even more annoying that McBean won't play rookies. Enough of this veteran preference. How good would have Shakir been? Why did we not see Teller's potential and drop him? Just total mismanagement all around.
  17. Today's version. My fav one yet: Dawand Jones OT Ohio State (big dude. Not only big, but athletic. Will instantly upgrade the OL. Day 1 starter.) Rashee Rice WR SMU (as someone said, we need another #1 WR, not a #2. Semifinalist for Biletnikoff award. Can do it all). Joe Tippmann OC Wisconsin (would be shocked if he lasts this long, but easy pick here getting the guy I think may be the top center in the draft) Will McDonald IV EDGE Iowa State (freaky athletic Edge player. Thought about DT here, but this guy is rated a top 5 Edge by some, and the only DT left from LSU was not a top 10 DT). Ronnie Hickman S Ohio State (great against the pass and run. Great Poyer replacement, IMO) DeWayne McBride RB UAB (led the nation in yards after contact. Here is our short yardage back, so Allen does not have to run all the time--and Dorsey can run it on 3rd and short)
  18. i want OBJ. I fear we get OBJ, and watch Bean go safety, DT, Edge.
  19. don’t get our hopes up!!
  20. yeah, D. Henry is a dud. So is Barkley. It's providing another weapon for Allen so he doesn't have to do it all himself. Also, in a no-trade mock, Robinson is often by far the BPA. It's better than target positions of "need" regardless of skill, and end up with AJ, Boogie, and Groot.
  21. agree. Try to find day 1 impact contributors. In my recent mock, there were zero day 1 guys, but RB Robinson was there. So i took him. Make this offense hard to defend by giving JA the most tools you can. (I then took OT in the 2nd)
  22. MCD won't sniff the HOF without multiple SB appearances and/or a win.
  23. yeah, but it's the way he said it. Smith wouldn't even make this team, BTW.
  24. here is what I got today: 27. Bijan Robinson RB Texas (do I want a RB in the 1st round. No. But this guy is a top 10 talent, and will make the offense better, assuming Daboll commits to a running game. A day 1 weapon for Allen, and the only day 1 weapon available when I drafted). 59. Darnell Wright OT Tennessee (OT who allowed no sacks last year) 91. DeMarvion Overshown LB Texas (big 6-4 rangy LB. Edmunds replacement) 130. Trey Palmer WR Nebraska (fast, big WR. route-tree may be somewhat limited, but that should be fixable) 139. Jaquelin Roy DT LSU (Oliver replacement. Strong and can hold-up blockers and clog the middle) 205. Nathaniel Dell WR Houston (small, fast WR. Future Beasley replacement if he can develop a route tree. For now, may be a KR or a threat to take the top off).
  25. Totally agree. Unless the player is an impact-player that cannot be replaced (we have very few), we make the trade/not resign. KC traded Hill, got picks, then got a bunch of #2 WRs. Bean is wed to overpriced "process" veterans. So what to do: 1. No to Edmunds. Even at a "team-friendly" deal. Need the cap space. Sorry. 2. Trade White. While he is an impact player, we can get picks for him that should be used either to trade up and get an OT or WR, or to hoard and draft more IOL. White is replaced by Elam, Benford, Jackson. 3. Don't resign Poyer. Same thing. We have other safeties. Use the savings to sign a safety in FA that costs less. Poyer replaced by cheaper FA, rookie, or Benford. 4. Keep Davis. While he could return picks, he is on a rookie contract and will be a good #3 next year. Use the cap savings from the above to get OL and/or WR in FA, and then draft OL, WR, and LB and safety to replace the departures. Of note: the Steelers routinely let all-pro players walk at the end of their contracts. They had a system where they would plug another guy in. You can't keep everyone and the big money you spend needs to be on premium positions in your system on top 5 players at their position (Diggs, Allen, Milano, Miller).
