Lets not get crazy....stay in the 4-3 and find some linebackers who can play -
Levitre is probably going to command a big payday on the open market. It might be better to sign Byrd and franchise levitre

The Bills should think outside the box...
first_and_ten replied to slowpokemcgee's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not without any prior coaching experience -
I get your point and it's a valid one, but the fact that he hasn't been hired by anyone doesn't automatically mean he would not be good at it. John Elway wasn't pursued by anyone else before the Broncos hired him either. I am pretty sure Kelly was not interested in coaching after he was done playing and said as much. As far as his interest in running the Bills, we don't really know if he would want to. He hasn't said this anyway. Maybe his interest is purely in keeping the team in Buffalo. We will see.

Not sure why you think Brad Smith could be an outstanding wideout. I think he makes too much money on a team that needs positions such as linebacker. Terrence Mcgee's contract was restructured so that the team is protected in case of injury and is a salary cap friendly one. So They might consider keeping him, hoping he can get back to good health. Kelsey, Johnson and Thigpen are probably gone along with others. I will say this about Kelsey though...the coaches, for whatever reason seem to like him.

How on Earth are we favored v. the Jets?
first_and_ten replied to TC in St. Louis's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree, They will win the one game they need to lose. Then we can listen to Gailey talk about progress and how Fitz had such a great game. -
Yes , and being football smart is far different than being book smart. If he knows football, knows talent, knows what a team needs to do to create a winning atmosphere, then that guy would be good enough to run my team.

Why isnt June Jones ever an NFL coaching candidate?
first_and_ten replied to Max997's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Everyone caught up with his "run and shoot" offense. -
I think Kelly was that way early in his career. He definately matured as he got older. He has been a great ambassador for the Bills staying in Buffalo and as a fan I apprecitae his love for the team.

I wish Wannstedt coached on the sidelines during games so that I could see how he interacts with the defense. It would be interesting to see his reactions and his players' reactions when they are playing as bad as we've seen.Maybe the fact he coaches from the booth says alot more about him than we realize.

Kelly wouldn't sign with this organization initially because of the losing tradition that was here. Polian had to convince him that this organization was committed to winning before he signed. Kelly does hate losing. I wonder, if Kelly is involved, might Bill Polian also be in the conversation?

You make a great point about what teams need to do to try and stop Spiller. Spiller is so good, defenses have to load the box and move safties up. If the Bills had a quarterback that defenses respected, Spiller might be even better than he already is. Fitz rarely makes a defense pay for overplaying the run. It probably explains why Gailey has not used Spiller as much as he should. He sees what defenses are doing and wants to exploit them. He sees the opportunities to make big plays on defenses that overplay the run. What he doesn't seem to want to admit, is that his quarterback cannot do it. I think if this team had a Peyton Manning running the offense, it would be hard to stop them. The offensive line, when not injured, is plenty good enough. Maybe the recievers need an upgrade, but it seems obvous that the real weakness is quarterback.

I just hope Fitzgerald makes it as an alternate

Here is how I assess this coach and gm
first_and_ten replied to PNW_Bills_Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes they inherited a mess, but they have maintained this mess. If it was a mess when they came in, how can you say a poorer record is a good job? To me, it translates to still pretty messy. Was your cable service out on Sunday? Did you not see the monstrosity they call a football team get demolished by Seattle? I do agree with you however that they might as well keep things as they are. If Ralph fires Nix and Gailey, he will only hire another Jauren or Mularkey. Who knows who would be the new GM, but rest assured he would be another guy no one else would want and is a yes man. Nothing changes for this team until new ownership is in place. -
If you think you hate the Patriots now, listen to this...
first_and_ten replied to bbb's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why can't you just come out and admit your Pats cheated? Does it make you sleep better at night if you argue that others cheated too? Because other cyclists cheated maybe Lance Armstrong shoul be allowed to keep all his titles. Explain to us in your infinite knowledge why the tapes were destroyed so quickly. Why did they know the Rams red zone offense in that superbowl? I believe they won by a field goal. Do you think they win that game without that knowledge? Their titles are tainted. -

The Patriots cheated, were caught, and the league destroyed any evidence related to the cheating. They were given a punishment and the league told them not to do it again. I love the way these patriot fans argue that if the cheating was so bad, why are they so good now? Why would the fact that they are good now have any effect on the fact that they cheated? Yes they are good now, but how many superbowls have they won since they were caught? Does anyone really believe they win all of those three superbowls without cheating? Would they even have gotten to the superbowl without cheating? Also, in my experience, once a cheater, always a cheater. I doubt that the Patriots have stopped cheating. Heck, Belacheat probably cheated when the Giants beat the Bills in superbowl XXV. All those superbowls should have been taken from them just as Lance Armstrong was stripped of his titles. Belacheat should have been banned for life also. This is way worse that BountyGate. It ruins the integrity of the game. No wonder they wanted all the evidence destroyed so fast. -

Does beating Dolphins mean anything anymore?
first_and_ten replied to cage's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They didn't figure the Bills would run Spiller in the first half? They decided to key on him in the secon half? LOL. This IS a game of adjustments and coaching. And good coaches adjust. Miami adjusted, the Bills did not. Good coaches don't take their best offensive weapon out on third down and run the third string running back in a wild cat formation. They don't take their best offensive weapon out of the game inside the ten yard line with little time on the clock. They don't call a play to the rookie reciever who he himself admits needs work and by Stevie Johnson's own admission has not even run in practice on a crucial play that decided the game in New England
