  1. If this is what it looks like, count me in.
  2. I'll take a stab at it: A franchise quarterback is the face of your franchise. When someone thinks of the Colts, it is, first and foremost, Peyton Manning that comes to mind. He is a quarterback that your franchise would pay top dollar to keep if his contract were up. He is an elite player who can, through both leadership and talent, get your team the win. He is The Man. When someone says we need to draft our franchise quarterback, they are saying is that we need to draft a kid that will become that man. Current franchise quarterbacks: P. Manning, T. Brady, A. Rogers, B. Rothlisberger, D. Brees, P. Rivers Borderline: T. Romo, E. Manning, J. Flacco, M. Ryan Becoming and Fading: S. Bradford, J. Cutler, M. Sanchez, M. Stafford, D. McNabb, B. Farve
  3. I've been reading the threads - Ponder, Newton, Locker, Next great bust/lock - and I'm sure there will never be a guy everyone likes and agrees on. There is always going to be the Ryan Leaf factor, even for a top rated guy like Bradford or Luck. Before we actually see the guy play in the NFL, we just won't know for sure. I guess we have to hope that Buffalo can make the best choice that they can at the time. I would not take any of these guys with the #3 pick, but down in round two or three, sure. It is a little like taking a shot down field a couple times a game. We are just going to have to do it - this year, maybe next year, too. We HAVE to find a quarterback. I like Fitz, and he'll do until we find the guy, but we have to find the guy.
  4. +1
  5. I got a good chuckle out of this one. Thanks.
  6. So far, I really like what I've seen from Moats, a rookie. If the trend continues, we may have found one, out of two, OLBs. Kelsey is certainly not that answer on the other side. Nice enough guy, but not an OLB. As for Poz, he is undersized, I think he would be/seem a lot better if we had a better line. The next off-season/draft needs to find a really good DE that can get after the passer and complement Moats, but he would need to be able to stop the run, too. Hopefully, we can move Kyle to the other DE spot and have Troup fill the NT spot. Then we would have a line that can cause trouble. Both the DEs would be able to rush and stop the run. We need to get another OLB out of free agency or the draft. Then we might have a chance. By the way, even though no one asked, I am okay with Whitner either way - stay or go. I like Wilson, but Whitner is a good safely, not top 5, but good.
  7. This is a common misconception. New York City, the home of all those fat paychecks for Wall Street, actually brings more taxes in than it takes out. It is Upstate, home of the disappearing jobs, that is the net taker of state resources.
  8. I think this is key. I went to the last two games (yes, I know, but I went anyway), and Poz is really small. As MLB, I think his job against the run is to fill the gaps, but he just gets pushed around too much.
  9. Guys, guys, guys, come on now, Wang isn't gonna step in and start. You are reaching at straws. He is going to back up at guard and tackle. He is a 5th round pick that has missed a lot of time. Just yesterday this board was all over how many 4th rounders have even panned out, now we have this guy stepping in and starting?
  10. This is an excellent point.
  11. Actually heard Aaron Rodgers say, "It's hard to win in the NFL," in a post game interview last night.
  12. When I look at a game, I see the ball snap, the line start to block, Edwards dropping back, then chaos. I never see a nice pocket form. On other teams, maybe it breaks down on one side so the quarterback steps up a bit. That isn't what happens on the Bills. I don't know enough to see why it happens though. It doesn't seem like just one guy is missing a block. A solid QB should be able to dodge one guy and throw down field. What I see is two or three defensive players coming through. It is like our whole O-line misses the blocks on pass plays. Can anyone explain where it goes wrong, who is missing these blocks? I thought the middle of the line looked as weak as the ends . . .
  13. Wasnt Wang, like, a seventh round draft choice?
  14. We could have punted. Then they would have used three running plays, burned all the clock, punted, and game over. We gave them those two points trying to win the game.
  15. I tend to agree. But they must not have liked any of the available class last year. THIS year, we should get a good one, at last, I hope, maybe . . .
  16. Not to throw water on the party, but if this guy is all that, why was he released?
  17. The reason the Bills have been so bad is because they don't have very good players, but we, as fans, still get attached to our players. So when we find out that they are going to get cut, or they have been moved down the depth chart, that is a good thing, It means we are slowly improving our team.
  18. Although I agree that this is how the year will go, I think we already have a pretty good idea that we don't have an NFL starting QB on our team now. The boys in charge didn't pick up one this season because they didn't believe one was available (other than an aging McNabb or someone like him - nothing for the future, really). They couldn't fix it all in one year. Next year, I would look for the them to draft a QB and a LT in rounds one and two.
  19. I was listening to Schopp and the Bulldog talk about Schobel today while I was driving home. Interesting takes: They seem to think he wont be worth $6-7 million for the year and should be dropped to save money. He's retired in his head, is learning a new position and doesn't want to be here. Also maybe he is just showing up for the money. I say, it isn't my money, so why not pay him. He makes the Bills better rather than worse. He won't be worse than whatever OLB they have to let go that would have been the last one to stay. I really don't care if he wants to be here. He is a professional, and I cant see this guy dogging it.
  20. James could not convince Bosh to play in Cleveland, so James, Bosh and Wade went to Miami. Think about this a minute: Young, rich ballers hanging in Cleveland - or in our case, Buffalo - or South Beach. Which would you choose? Is it any wonder we have a hard time?
