We are about to experience a revolution in Offense. Its going to be basketball players. Guys who can high point the ball .
Kaufmann and the Bills might be on to something here. and the Canisius kid
Damn these young upstart coaches !
I think hyrbrid TE/WR is coming. Guys that move around.
Can Kaufmann block ?
I've said it before - Bills should be scouting college basketball players with HS football experience. There are lots of very athletic B ballers that are 6'5"/250. Would certainly not hurt to bring in a couple of free agents after the draft.

There is no way a statewide referendum passes for a stadium in Buffalo. Not even the slightest chance.
Even a local one within WNY where WNY people fund a stadium would fail in my opinion.
The number of real Bills fans that would be willing to fund a stadium is dwarfed by the others, again in my opinion.
For the past 50 years, I have paid over $100k in school property taxes - and have never used a public school. I have paid for libraries & public parks and have used them only rarely. Never have I griped, complained or whined about my taxes for these items.
If my taxes must go up a little to pay for a stadium, I will cheer. At last, my taxes will go to something that I will use & enjoy.
Yes, there will be some jobs created by building a new stadium. More importantly, the whole Buffalo psych would take a hit if we don't. We give businesses money all the time in the form of tax loopholes & tax break /forgiveness schemes. It is time & the Governor seems to be on board.
When we built the present stadium 40+ years ago, does anyone remember their taxes - either state or local - going up noticeably ?
Just do it, pay for it, & get it done, so my kids can enjoy it for the next 40 years just like I did for the past 40+ years. Thanks for listening.

I will take Aaron Murray in the fourth round instead.
This.

It's telling that this guy thinks Roger Goodell is the one who decides which teams move where. Goodell doesn't even get a vote. Also, the author obviously isn't following the subject he is writing about. The new lease precludes any imminent moving of the Bills.
Just another "sports writer" writing the same article that others before him have written. Has he also written an article bemoaning the much more likely moving of the Rams?
Beats Indy! Or Detroit, Minneapolis, Jacksonville........
Would they make more money broadcasting from London? I thought the rights are already sold/paid for.
I live in Ft. Myers for the winter. I can tell you that David Moulton is a very respected writer. It's good to see media people from other than Bflo start griping about NFL greed etc.. It can't hurt.
-
I think it would be nice to move the draft site around each year. It would be good for the local economies.
-
Show me a team that has a ton of both, you can't. Denver, Seattle, SF etal have players with 'issues'. Hell we made it to 4 superbowls with several so did Dallas etc.
Lets try this again, Stevie isn't a #1 WR and getting paid like he is. He is a feel good story for the fans. From a pure football perspective I dump him, his attitude, and his salary. CJ is a feel good story too, Fans love the occasional long run, wonderful, but he isn't a 25 rush per game starter and that is what this team needs. He is in a contract year, I trade him now. You say put payton manning with these two feel good stories and they are better? I disagree. Denvers WR's had talent hell they made Tim Tebow look good! How could they not look good with a good QB? CJ? He has to stay on the field more than 3 plays at a time for payton to do anything with him. But I am not going to argue the point, Both Stevie and CJ should be traded now while they have value and lets upgrade RB so we can start making a run
It is not going to break the bank to sign CJ. The market for RB's seems to lessen every year where now the good ones are being signed in the 3M to 4M area.
-
Well when a neutral observer looks at the size of the market, the affluence of the markets, and the outlook for the area, then Toronto is obviously the better choice. There are lot of other things that factor into it that said neutral observer might not know or care about.
Toronto has about 4M people. WNY has about 1M people. Toronto would put 70,000 people in the stands every Sunday. Bflo would put 70,000 fans in the stadium every Sunday. So, what is the big advantage for Toronto ? Oh yeah - TV eyes. Or is it a big advantage? My friends in Toronto tell me that they watch the Bills on Channels 4 & 29 from Bflo. These stations are on their cable system. So, they are watching the same commercials for beer & razor blades that we Buffalonians watch. So, if they are watching our TV stations, the question I have is - why isn't Toronto considered part of our TV area. If the networks and/or the NFL considered Toronto part of our viewing area, we would jump from a small market viewing area to one of the largest.
I'm sure that I am missing something here. Help wanted for an explanation. Thanks.

Good morning Bills fans! Been mulling this over and came to the conclusion that this year needs to be about addressing deficiencies, regardless of the argument, because it is a deep draft. Shocker...right?
This conclusion lead to some thinking on the most apparent deficiencies, the RUN D.
Though we've made a few moves to address this issue (extending Branch, moving Kiko, Spikes) I don't billieve that it's enough. We're missing the most important piece, a dominant DT. Don't get me wrong, I'm still a fan of Dareus and Williams, but they're obviously not the answer with plugging up the line and covering our LB's. They both provide great pressure on passing downs and get good penetration, but their strengths are too similar. We have to be able to mix them up with a true, bigger bodied run stuffer.
All of tis has made me rethink my draft strategy. Even though I am of the school of thought that the game is won @ the LOS, I kinda got carried away with Ebron and/or Evans. Again, the draft is deep @ TE an WR and OT, but not so much @ DT. That being said, there aren't any DT's rated in t top 10, so it further adds to possibility of trading back n picking up extra selections.
So, I reprioritized my draft..
Trade back out of #9 and pick up an extra 2nd, then;
Rd 1 - Louis Nix III
2a - Morgan Moses
2b - Donte Moncrief
3 - Troy Niklas
4 - Jon Halapio
5 - Storm Johnson
7 - Andrew Jackson
\
If you want to trade down, then pick up Donald. He reminds me of Watts.
-
I'm becoming more and more at peace with the idea of a franchise tackle at #9. If a kid is truly good enough, then why not?
Plus, for a team with needs, and an inexperieced coaching staff, this draft could become a total cluster#$%.
-Take the tackle. Then go get your "big threat" receiver. If the staff does their research, it'll be hard to f#@ that combo up.
TE can wait. A few solid TE's will be available in later rounds to UDFA.
Too high bust potential for Eric Ebron to be taken with our #1 pick.
The Bills should be looking for basketball players who have HS football experience. There are a lot of very good athletes that go around 6'4/250. They can be had as free agents or 7th rounders.

I see some Big Ben in his play.
I think thats my ceiling for him.
I have faith in him bc he has the moxie and leadership abilities you want. Hes authentic. He never points the finger. Hes coachable.
I saw enough good to be optimistic. There was bad sure. But I wasnt dumb enough to think we drafted Peyton Manning. So far, Imo we picked the best QB in that class. And everyone knew he would need time and work.
Not remotely worried about him.
I agree with everything you posted. However, there was no mention of the most important attribute (in my opinion ) of a QB -- confidence. EJ doesn't seem to have it. He is a little fearful of throwing into coverage & letting his receiver work for the ball. He will not get to be a playoff QB until he uses his skill set confidently. His arm strength is average to above average; his accuracy is below average to average; & his confidence is below average. I think that he will improve but I would like to see him acquire a little cockiness. Of course that will come with success. Hopefully, if we surround him with talent, there will be some success. We shall see
Having said that, I still think that the Bills should trade down so they have 5 picks in the first 4 rounds. They then can afford to go for a QB in one of the later rounds. If EJ can't handle a little competition, well that would be telling I suppose.
-
I guess people really do watch different games? In two years I do not think that TJ has dropped a single ball that was catchable.
Tim-
Wasn't it TJ that dropped Tuel's pass in the Cleveland game ?
-
One more thing on that is that the Bills are known to do their business quietly. How many rumors of Mike Williams surfaced before it was a done deal? Brandon Spikes interest didn't surface until Massare's paparazzi had him turning his head and coughing.
I am not sure that there is much more here than them checking but it's certainly interesting. Nothing would surprise me at this point. If the Bills are "all in" on anything I think it is ending the playoff drought. They are capable of pretty much anything IMO good, bad or otherwise.
As I mentioned in a previous thread, a trade down would give us an extra 2nd. Thus enabling us to use this extra pick for a QB. Without the trade down, I don't think they will go QB early.
-
I see the Bills drafting OL,WR. & TE not necessarily in that order. I think that they would also like to get a RB earlier than the 5th Round. The best way to do all this is by trading down. They can get their RB in the 3rd then. In the 4th they can take a shot at a QB or a PON.During every offseason, we as fans love to speculate on what the front office is thinking going into the draft. Are they fixated on a player or position? Are there particular positions of "need" that would dictate a draft pick, like Gilmore and Dareus did? Alternatively, will they simply pick the best available player on their board regardless of need, ala Spiller? I offer up the following observations based on what the team has done in the offseason thus far:
Brandon Spikes - Signed a 1-year deal worth approximately $3.25 million plus performance based incentives. Presumably, he will be the guy in the middle on running downs, such that Kiko can move to his natural position at weak side linebacker. From a draft perspective, I don't have any ILB's ranked even in the top-20 draft prospects, so this would make sense.
Keith Rivers - Signed a 2-year deal worth approximately $4 million. With the signing bonus, $2.4 million of that will be paid this year. Schwartz is clearly setting up to run a 4-3 defense this season and Rivers would make sense on the outside opposite Kiko. From the draft, I'm sure the Bills would love to get Khalil Mack, but expecting that he'll fall to them at #9 is a pipe dream. If they have enough love for Anthony Barr, then Rivers could simply represent insurance such that if both are gone, they're still left with a starter.
Scott Chandler - Re-signed with the bills to a 2-year deal worth $4.75 million, of which about $2.75 million will be paid this season. Over the last 3 years, Chandler has been the Bills second leading receiver, behind only Stevie Johnson. Without over reading this, I can't see them picking Ebron in the 1st while still having Chandler, Smith, Moaki, Gragg, and also recently signed Caussin at TE. Chandler is the key though given that the rest are very much TBD's.
Mike Williams - The Bills traded a pick for him and will pay him just $2.2 million this year and $6.2 million next year. Next years compensation though will only be paid if he's retained. He's a local product and playing here with a chip on his shoulder. I pencil him in as the #2 at this point with Woods, Goodwin, Easley, Graham, and a score of others behind that. The availability of Sammy Watkins in the first is highly unlikely, and this would seem to mean to me that they're not #9 high on Mike Evans.
Corey Graham - His deal was 4-years and $16 million with $8.1 million guaranteed. That's a pretty big nut to say the least. Marrone has already said that he'll get a shot at playing Byrd's position. The dollars would seem to indicate to me that it's his job to lose. I don't dislike Searcy or Duke Williams, but think they'll be backups. Gilmore, McKelvin, and A.Williams round out the D-backs, so it would not seem to me that this position is one of importance in the draft.
Chris Williams - 4 years and $13.5 million with $5.5 million guaranteed. Like ILB's, there's not a guard worth drafting in the top-20. His pay says he's a starter none the less.
Jairus Wynn/Alan Branch - The recent signing of Wynn and the re-signing of Branch (with $3.1m in bonuses) tells me that they're set on the defensive line. They have their starters of course, but have a ton of depth for getting after quarterbacks. I can't imagine that there's a player at #9 at any of the positions that would have any value, and trading up for Clowney just doesn't make sense.
There may be other opinions of course, but I think that the Bills have clearly tipped their hands. Recent trades and acquisitions seem to fill multiple positions of need, and the dollars paid to boot suggest that they're not just picking up backups but starters. Erik Pears grades out almost dead last as a RT, but is penciled in as a starter. Hairston can't stay healthy enough to be counted on. It is to me the only clear position of need. Where that leaves me is a clear pick in the draft. Robinson or Matthews and moving Glenn to the right side or more likely Lewan. There is zero doubt in my mind that one of the three will be there when the Bills pick at #9. I could even see them trading down in the first and still getting a guy like Kouandjio and adding more picks later.
-
Trade down - get an extra 2nd & then pick a QB in the 3rd.Yeah I'm concerned about that accuracy. Few things in a game bother me more than a wide open WR, needing to slow down his trot for a ball.
-
A trade down would give us 4 picks instead of 3 in the 1st 3 rounds. We then could take a just in case QB for only a small cost.
-
They're fun to think about. What else is there for Bills fans at this time of year ?Please no more, however well reasoned, theoretical trade threads. None of them EVER materialize.
-
I am not a TJ Graham lover But -- how many times did he beat the CB deep & was over thrown, under thrown, or not seen by our QB ?You do realize who started this thread, the Eagles have coaches tape just like us right?
Graham will be released by the end of camp, and may not even get picked up by another team. My bet is he will be on a practice squad somewhere if at all.

Outside of watching your own team, the hook to watch the rest of the games is gambling & Fantasy Football.Metz, you know the answers to all those questions. The rule changes are to give the perception that the league is really concerned about player safety (rather than impending and continuing law-suits), and the other stuff is all about selling merchendise.
I think Cuban is right. As an NBA owner, he is obviously concerned with the NFL's seeming obessession with having football every night of the week. The NBA has carved out a nice niche for itself in the pro-sports world, and the NFL is obviously threatening that. But, I will be honest. Unless the Bills are playing, I have no real interest in Thursday Night football. I am starting to lose interest in Monday Night Football as well, unless it is the Bills. What used to make the NFL so awesome, in part, was that it was so limited...one day a week, and one game on Monday night. Now, everything is so constant and so accessible, it is taking some lustre off the game.

I liked Levitre, but you must agree that he was playing with Fitz,. The one thing that Fitz did well was to get rid of the damn ball. Our QB last year was hesitant, thus the hurries & sacks.Man, I'd hate to tell you what Levitre gave up in 2012.
1 sack
3 hits
7 hurries
http://blogs.buffalo...g/andy-levitre/
So it goes like this...
Levitre wasn't worth the money because he wasn't a stud and no more than above average. Ok..
He's replaced by a duo that gives 5 sacks to his 1..and a whopping 24 more hurries
Who are then replaced by a guy that gave up 5 sacks to Levitre's 1 and who gave up a whopping 21 more hurries...a guy who is deemed "average" by some.
If that's average..I'd hate to see below average.
Having said that, we still need a couple of offensive lineman.

Donald is a better football player than Clowney, despite Clowney's obvious measurables.I wouldn't want Donald as it is a luxury pick with the roster now. We desperately need playmaking WR, TE, and RT. I would be pissed if we don't take one of those three spots unless Clowney was there as a beast pass rusher opposite Williams would be awesome. I'm not into fairy tale land so I know that won't happen.
-
Not only will he not drop out of the 1st round, in my humble opinion, he will go #1 overall. He will be a good to very good QB immediately. Who knows, after that.Bridgewater and Bortles will still go in the top ten but I think Manzeil stops to bottom of first round and maybe top of second
IMO he is a third round pick but bc of position he plays and who he is he will go much higher then he should
His pocket awareness, athletic ability, will make us wish that we had him rather than EJ (who can still be a good QB ).
-
The only game I saw Donald play was the Syracuse game. He dominated. He is a low risk pick.my bills board is Clowney-Robertson-Mack-Watkins-Mathews-Donald. If the first five are off board and we stay pat at 9- I take Donald with no hessitation. Its not a need, but he is a force

Outshine ??Thanks for injecting some reality into the debate. Ebron might very well wind up being a top tier TE, but I'm not for using a top 10 pick on him and he isn't at the level Davis was coming out of the combine. Davis was seen as an athletic freak, perhaps the best TE in the combine ever. The fact that guys like Gronkowski I and Graham have outshined Davis in the NFL despite being later picks, shows what a crapshoot all of this is.
Perhaps, Gronk & Graham playing with Brady & Brees has something to do with it.
-
IMHO Garoppolo will be taken in the 2nd or 3rd round. So you'd rather take the 2nd or 3rd ranked WR instead of the top ranked OT?
We desperately need OL help in the worst way. Legursky is a tire fire and Pears has regressed and is in the final year of his contract. The time is now to upgrade and Whaley has an oldschool philosophy that you build a team from the inside out.
An OT is not a sexy pick but it fills a major need and it's how good teams win games.
Not a fan. I love getting Gabe Jackson and the potential of Garoppolo, though.
I'm now convinced we're moving back in draft..
