    Totally agree, I have never understood the Inactive thing. What is its purpose? If these guys are on the roster, why can't they be permitted to play?

    He's a perfect "culture" fit for John Gruden and the hapless Raiders.

    Another perspective of why this is a good move: Look at the back-ups who will be starting this week in the NFL. The guys in San Francisco and Carolina, I'd never even heard of before they had this gig, Jacksonville--Cody Kessler. Getting a smart and apparently reliable veteran, It's a good move.

    A need we don't have to worry about in the off-season now. Draft or sign a developmental guy for preseason, and move on to other needs.
