  1. If Chambers starts over Bell, I'll be pissed. And I guess they don't want to move Butler from RT and didn't want to pay Walker to be a backup. This hurts depth, but I'm betting Walker didn't want to be a backup.
  2. Simmons hasn't been a "premier guard," for years predating the usually-career-killing Achilles injury. He also doesn't play tackle.
  3. Kendall Simmons is a force? Much less at OT?
  4. Maybe you should have your 8-year old 'splain things to you. And post for you.
  5. I'd say that having years to get on the same page but waiting until the 3rd extension of the start of free agency, giving the players a 5% raise, giving the owners 45 minutes to read the CBA and vote on it, and then "opting-out" at the earliest chance (hint, it had NOTHING to do with the economy), is an embarrassment. And yet if it's so great, and "rivers of money" are being made, even in this economy, why "opt out" at all and risk a work stoppage? See that's the funny part about trying to defend that last CBA. No sane person can.
  6. I hope he becomes more than Stamer, who was a good ST'er with the Bills, but was just released by the Titans.
  7. Blitz him on every down. No one is expecting the Bills to beat the Patriots anyway. But if they can get to Brady and knock him around, maybe land an elbow "to brace one's fall" to his knee, it's a better strategy that sitting back and taking what's shoved down their throats.
  8. They did, but he wasn't "waiting in agony." He actually fell asleep at one point.
  9. I hope he retires. No pick for the Patriots, to go along with never playing for them again.
  10. Given their performances in pre-season, and especially given Maybin having so little time in camp, I don't know how anyone can say if they had it to do all over again, they'd draft Orakpo. True Orakpo is 13# (that's 13# BTW) heavier than Maybin and stronger, but he's also 2 years older.
  11. BTW, I recall seeing on BB.com that Palmer was 6'1" and 223# when he was signed by the Bills. But the BB.com website now lists him at 236#. That's a more respectable weight. I wonder how much more he can gain? The same goes for Harris, who is 6'2" and 232#.
  12. As per usual, it will probably take injury for these guys to get onto the field this year.
  13. That's a nice fantasy world, but far from reality. The Eagles are in win-now mode because their window of opportunity is closing fast.
  14. It's an embarrassment because just 2 years after signing it, they chucked it, and the specter of a work stoppage looms. True they're making more money than ever, thanks to more revenue streams and higher TV contracts, which would have materialized anyway. But they made FAR more money under the previous CBA and no owners were crying poverty then. The players got one over on the owners and the owners know it, and that's the most embarrassing part of it all.
  15. Here's also what he said:
  16. Reid, Banner, and Heckert are on the hot seat this year and they know it. The loss of DC Jimmy Johnson, along with Brian Dawkins who was considered the leader and heart and soul of the defense, along with starting MLB Stewart Bradley, are big losses on defense. On offense, the O-line is unsettled with Peters and the Andrews brothers battling injuries (and in Shawn's case, possibly depression) and Brian Westbrook's availability is in question. Vick has TONS of baggage, hasn't played in over 2 years, and he's a QB and has had some success, while McNabb was benched last year and the boo birds could come out quickly should the offense struggle, leading to a QB controversy. Moreover, when they signed him, he was supposed to miss 5 games. That's why I say it was an act of desperation.
  17. AVP didn't say that.
  18. Yes, because signing Vick wasn't an act of desperation.
  19. I don't think Trent or Lee liked Schonert or his offense, but didn't expect to see him actually get fired before the season started. And it doesn't sound like they're sad to see him go.
  20. Good point. I now believe it was Jauron who made the decision, and Ralph and the players backed him up.
  21. Kind of like retirement. When you start thinking about it, it's probably time to do it. And I still don't know who made the decision. But I'm fine with it.
  22. Regardless of the actual percentage (I should have bothered to read the article, my bad), the CBA was an embarrassment for the NFL. Your example or Ralph means nothing, because every owner lost a lot of money by getting taken to the cleaners by the players, but they all turned healthy profits.
  23. Snyder and Jones, who are also astute businessmen, haven't fared much better the past decade. As for Kraft, he was widely ridiculed for hiring Belichick as his HC, not to mention surrendering a 1st round pick for him, as well as hiring a nobody to be his Director of Pro Personnel (Pioli). Conversely Ralph was hailed for hiring TD, the man many credited with rebuilding the Steelers.
  24. Seymour's cap number for this year was supposed to be $11.3M, of which $6M was amortized bonus, for which the Patriots will get nailed with on the 2009 cap. Schobel is similar in pay structure. So settle down, ladies.
