  1. I suspect the intention on the first drop back that lost 30 yards was the QB was supposed to chuck the ball high and far out of bounds like he did on 4th down, but the defense got through so quick he couldn't set up to throw so he ate it. If I'm wrong about that it just makes the whole sequence look that much worse. The coach has accomplished a lot in 2 years, but this was just a chicken ***** plan. Trust your players and play to win.
  2. There's another point I'd like to make here that may be helpful: Spectrum in my area, the Mid-Hudson Valley, has the two ABCs and CBSs, but only the NYC one is in HD when you're using the box. However, Spectrum's streaming app has both WRGB and WTEN in HD.
  3. Well, now I feel stupid. I get two ABCs, one from NYC and one from Albany, and it never occurred to me to check the Albany one, but I did and it's working. Thanks for explaining this!
  4. He doesn't look anywhere near as bad as the way you described him.
  5. I just learned Giants Stadium had a grass surface for three years. What's stranger than that is I lived in the NYC market in 2002 and my NFL TV "options" included a game on that field every week. Then again, I didn't remember somebody named Eddie Robinson once played for the Bills.
  6. You could have put all the QBs Bob caught TDs from in this clip in generic uniforms with the same number and Plunkett would still stick out like a sore thumb. Always looked like he was heaving a grenade.
  7. This is eerily close to what I did that day; I stomped over to the TV after that score and yanked the stand really hard and tore the coax cable right off of the connector. We got it rigged up well enough that I got to watch the end of that miserable game, and I got called a dumbass several times that night.
  8. The momentum shift was so bizarre it made me forget the 1st half🙃
  9. I had a complete copy of this game years ago and it was like watching a snuff film. This was one week after the Miracle at the Meadowlands and it SHOWED. The Giants had no interest in even being there, much less competing. And when you think about it, it was 20% of Miller's season. So when we talk about him not doing much after 1978, we need to remember he didn't accomplish a whole lot *during* that season. Aside from this one game, against a team that seemed to be trying to get it's coach fired.
  10. Thanks for this a LOT! Now if anyone can find the @Jets game from that season...
  11. I have to admit my first thought when I saw the title of this thread was, "Wait a minute... they knew Deshaun Watson was a sex pest way back then and let him play anyway?"
  12. There are an awful lot of good ones and I couldn't honestly pick one, but here's another contender: against the Lions in '97 when Phil Hansen just ripped through their OL like it was made of toilet paper and dumped Sanders for a safety. At 1:35 here:
  13. I remember the PA announcer was cranked up so some of what we would normally hear from the booth was covered by that. It was just not a big deal IMO; even then, at 15, I was sophisticated enough to not need them yammering at me. And who here among us hasn't been in a sports bar where they had all the games playing but only one with audio? Once in a blue moon something confusing happens that requires a verbal explanation, but most of these guys think they get paid by the word and wouldn't be missed in the least if someone "accidentally" pulled the plug on them.
  14. Griese wasn't the first to wear glasses during games; I know at least one player, Chuck Muncie, wore them a year before that.
  15. One of ASU's recent punters before Turk was Matt Haack, who has been on the Dolphins the last couple years; Turk is 10x better than Haack. He is the best punter ASU has had in the 25 years I've been following them, and 2nd place is closer to last place than it is to Turk. I am shocked no one signed him, but it has been reported that he just didn't perform very well (other than the zillion bench presses) at the combine. Which goes to show that NFL decision makers really do pay more attention to the combine and less to the games than they claim.
