Zerovoltz 3rd and FINAL Mock Draft 2 rounds
ExWNYer replied to Zerovoltz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The closer we get to Thursday, the more this one makes me nervous. I have been firmly in the 'CB, Edge, WR' camp but, outside of Kwity Paye, I hope that it's not an Edge until Round 2. If you go back and look at the hit rate for Edge defenders in the bottom quarter of Round 1 for the last decade or so, it's atrocious. Barring a Josh Allen-type of bullseye at DE, it's statistically likely to be a swing and a miss. I'm hoping that they can land somebody like Turner in Round 2 or if they trade back into the 2nd, maybe somebody with the raw skills to be a homerun like Rousseau. I'm starting to feel more and more that if they stay at 30 and go Edge, it will be Oweh. -
Gunner's 2021 Draft Quarterback Evaluations
ExWNYer replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Few, if any (@Blokestradamus?), put in this much time and effort. Flaming away is unnecessary and not an option. Great job and thank you for taking the time to share. The one thing that nobody can quantify...no matter how much they scout or research...is a kid's heart, drive, and desire to win and to be the best. Josh has that intangible/internal makeup which is a big reason for his unicorn-like improvement, IMO. He has that 'it' factor that you just can't teach or coach up and we all are the beneficiaries of that, thankfully. Like many here, I was hoping when he was drafted that we were taking 'Right Josh' Rosen. Thank God that Beane and company were in charge and not any of us. Unlike many, however, I didn't lose my shite when Allen's name was called. I was disappointed but thought, "I hope they got it right with this kid." Too many were blinded by their own agenda to even give Allen a chance. They were convinced that he sucked and would never get better. Period. Patience has gone the way of the dinosaur, especially regarding NFL QBs. Anyway, thanks again for the analysis. Cheers! -
All mocked out? How about a really OLD one?
ExWNYer replied to cage's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's funny now to see how many of those guys have no chance of being taken in the 1st Round. Interestingly, CBS Sports has Stokes going to the Bills. Whether you like that or hate it, it's still a possibility. -
Call your shot: Who will the Bills pick in the 1st round?

You suggested it, so I asked. No emoji, no 'LOL' so it read as a serious take on your part. Don't sweat it, carry on. -

So they'll trade away their cost controlled 1st Round draft pick for a player (albeit very good) with a $14M+ cap hit? How many starters are you planning to cut to achieve this? This is the defensive version of Screamin' A. Smith suggesting they trade for Julio Jones. -
Bucky Brooks Suggests Ravens Should Pick Fields
ExWNYer replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't disagree with your last sentence. I'm just not completely buying 'hook, line, and sinker' everything being said or intimated at this time of year. We may never know for sure as there is a good chance that Farley is gone by 30. If he's there and they pass, then that is at least a better indicator that Beane was being truthful. I just don't believe that they'll summarily dismiss the option at 30 for a player at a premium position who could potentially end up being the best CB in the draft. Regardless, if he's there, they'll trust their own medicals and vetting processes when the time comes. -

It's one man's mock and it only takes one GM to fall in love with the player. Despite his medicals, I would be more surprised if Farley actually lasted until 30 than I would if Beane took him at 30. -

In his final mock draft released today, he has the Bills taking CB Caleb Farley. ♥️ https://www.nfl.com/news/bucky-brooks-2021-nfl-mock-draft-3-0-49ers-pick-trey-lance-najee-harris-to-cardi?icampaign=nflweb-push-webnotification -

McShay- Bills trying to move up above 23 for Etienne
ExWNYer replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm on record in several threads saying that while I wouldn't be thrilled with Etienne as their 1st Round pick, I get why they would do it. If they do, I'm okay with it. If they move up and use more assets to do it, then I am not. I'm not jumping off a cliff either way no matter what they do. I've also said that we can't control what they do or don't do as an organization so once the player is chosen, I'm pulling like hell for him to succeed as a Buffalo Bill whether or not I liked or disagreed with their choice. My personal preference is that they not take Etienne but I realize what he can bring to the offense. I'm hoping for a CB or WR but, regardless, I hope that whoever it is can be a long-time contributor and success. Did Screamin' A suggest (yell) exactly what they should surrender for a 32 year-old WR with a big cap hit and discuss whether or not it's a good idea to commit that kind of money at the position when Diggs will be commanding a pay raise sooner rather than later? -

He definitely needs to work on his zone coverage skills but he's a 'Top 10', talent, if healthy, and a probable 'shut down' corner. You find a way to make him fit. He's a rare talent who trumps scheme and he would bring some versatility that would allow McDermott to change up his coverage packages, if necessary. -

Except by the 'Etienne or Bust' crowd. -

I would love to get him but it's looking increasingly likely that they'll have to make a move up to get him. -
McShay- Bills trying to move up above 23 for Etienne
ExWNYer replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed, which is primarily why I don't want Etienne in the 1st Round, especially at the cost of additional draft assets. Even if you hit on one who makes it to his second contract, it's questionable at best whether allocating those resources to that position is a smart move. Dave Gettleman is about to find that out very soon. -

This is probably recency bias on your part because that statement is absolutely a false narrative. It's not rare to find a good RB outside of the 1st or 2nd Round. Using your Chris Carson reference, that 2017 draft alone is littered with several good choices in Round 3 and beyond: Alvin Kamara, Kareem Hunt, and James Conner all in Round 3, Tarik Cohen and Marlon Mack in Round 4, Aaron Jones in Round 5, Chris Carson in Round 7. Hardly rare. http://www.drafthistory.com/index.php/positions/rb -

So 'Twatter' caught someone in a lie? What a shock. 😉 If it didn't come from that 'fountain of knowledge', Todd McShart, I'm not buying it. -

If they "don't want Allen taking all of the hits that he does", they have the power to change some of that by having their OC call fewer designed QB runs. If they stay at 30 and draft Etienne, I wouldn't be thrilled but I could understand it to some extent; however, trading up for him would be asinine and irresponsible, probably costing them at least their Round 3 pick (#93). In doing so, they would have used three 3rd Round picks and a 1st Round pick on three different RBs in a three year span. That is not the proper way to build a roster "for the long term". It's a recipe for disaster. If they want to add a speed element to the backfield, there are cheaper options later in the draft including Gainwell, Jefferson, and Hawkins not to mention that they have added Breida who can also catch. If they go up into the 19-24 range. it better be to get a CB like Newsome or Farley, an Edge like Paye, a WR like Bateman, or a unicorn like Owusu-Koramoah. Otherwise, stay put and let the draft (or Etienne) come to you. -
Could You See Josh Allen Doing TV Commercials?
ExWNYer replied to Peace Frog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't know...I could very easily see him in a Summer's Eve commercial. -
Agreed, Logic. I also think he offers versatility and the ability to play outside. I won't be thrilled if they take him at #30 but won't be completely crushed either. He feels like a much better Round 2 value/selection but we all know how wonky and unpredictable the draft can be.

Agree on Basham. If he ends up as the Bills' choice at Edge, the draft fell horribly wrong for them.
