If anybody can get the most out of him, it's 'The Evil Empire' of the NL. What might have been with the trio of deGrom, Harvey and Syndergaard...

I agree and I wouldn't put anything past Cohen. Rather that emphatically stating, "Landing Correa was never going to happen", I guess I should have phrased it, "I can't see it happening." At what dollar amount does Cohen set his 'line of demarcation'? It's logical to think that even he has to have a point of diminishing returns calculated in his World Series-chasing brain. Nothing about Cohen shocks me anymore but, barring some sort of trade by the front office, I would expect anything else to be a peripheral or complementary move such as a tweak(s) to the bullpen or bench/DH, not a Correa level addition. I can see him adding more money to the payroll, just not a monster/major contract.

Net win for the Bills Tua is not Dolphin safe Miami gets canned -
Asking tough questions to get answers is one thing. Being a douche for the sake of being a douche is quite another. Sully is the latter. If his firing is true, good riddance.

Landing Correa was never going to happen. Even Cohen has a limit. They are already historically over the tax threshold. If they weren't going to spend for Rodon, they certainly weren't going spend even more for Correa.

Agree. Gugs. I was hoping they would land Senga. I hope he assimilates well to the majors. As I said before, I think he could be a decent reliever, if he doesn't do so well in the middle/backend of the rotation. I liked Bassitt but he left a sour taste in my mouth at the end of the season and, based on some of his comments, I don't think he was made for the pressure of NYC. He had some thinly-veiled excuses for his performance down the stretch. Out with the old, in with the new. LGM!

So you are sick of people asking you stupid questions but you are perfectly fine asking them yourself. You should work in media. LFGM!

Is this a euphemism? Maybe try laying up once in a while rather than driving for the green every time. 😇

Depends. Is it powdered? (Take on an old Steven Wright bit)

Are you a Mets fan? I noticed that your avatar is of 'Mr. Met'.

How do you imagine you'd feel if the Bills were 9-4, a game behind the Chiefs and in a dead heat with the Bengals and a date in Cincy still on deck? How do you imagine the fans of the rest of the teams in the AFC feel after the Bills 'only' beat the playoff contending Jets by 8 points and nearly ended their QB? A little perspective is in order here. Everyone else in the conference is still chasing the Bills, warts and all.

I said during last season that I wanted Nimmo re-signed. I love him as a player but am shocked that he got $162 million. I thought anything over $125 million for him would be a stretch. Boras is a wizard. Thrilled with the Robertson signing. I wanted him last year and believe he could have made a real difference for them last season. My only worry at this point is that this team still does not have enough punch/power in the lineup. If Alvarez and Baty don't mature quickly during the season, this team could be royally screwed.

Everything I've heard so far is that interest in Syndergaard around MLB has been lukewarm. A lot of teams are apparently wary of his declining analytics. It will be interesting to see what he gets. With the shortage of arms, someone will take a chance on him. Like Gugs said, Atlanta will be fine. Frustratingly, they are constantly able to make chicken salad out of chicken sh*t to go with all of the elite talent they churn out non-stop. They are a model franchise, unfortunately.

Seems that way. I feel about Quintana the way I did Walker. Like him okay, not 'over the moon' happy. I guess that's the feeling you get with a middle or back end of the rotation guy. You just hope they stay healthy and can give you some quality starts. FYI, I was not happy that they let Wheeler walk a few years ago and thought he should have been retained. I stand by that still. He wasn't super expensive and wanted to stay with the Mets but the penny-pinching crooks who are the Coupon family had other ideas. Glad those sh*theads are in the rearview mirror.

Be still my beating heart. Please make it so. That would be a sweet parting gift from Jake. @Another Fan Like him or hate him, another starter has been inked, fellas. Mets get the lefty, Quintana, on a 2-year, $26 million deal. Pitchers are starting to ink deals left and right. Not happy that Walker chose to go to Philly but whatever. The Judge overpayment by the Skanks may finally open the spending floodgates. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/35203380/sources-mets-fill-rotation-need-lefty-jose-quintana

OF Bryan Reynolds. Good young player with a few years of control left so he would not come cheaply and there are reportedly no shortage of suitors. He has a low salary with controllable years so the Pirates will not deal him unless they get several really good prospects in return. He's not in a walk year so they don't have to just take what they can get. If somebody wants him, they are going to have to make it more than worth Pittsburgh's while.

Right now they have an old, incomplete rotation, no bullpen outside of Diaz, a huge hole at catcher (can't count on Alvarez coming in and setting the world on fire as a rook), and no power outside of Alonso (and somewhat Lindor). They have a ton of work to do (and money they will have to spend) but, currently, my expectations as compared to last year are nonexistent. Even with the Verlander signing, I am not excited yet for 2023. FYI...useless tidbit...Verlander is from the Richmond area and pitched his high school ball one county over from where I live.
-
If Scherzer &/or Verlander end up shelved at one or more points during the season (very possible, given their ages), that is a rotation that will be looking up in the standings at Atlanta & Philly. <shudders>

Dolphins/Bills - Saturday, December 17th, 8:15PM

Someone should ask them how they would like to play three games in eleven days...with very little practice time...and a QB at less than 100%...all on the road (short flights or not). F them.
