Tagliabue's Advice Ignored
ExWNYer replied to GhostsOfTheRockpile's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not to worry. I'm sure we can pick up an undersized slot receiver at #42. -
Round 1 (#8): Selection: S Donte Whitner
ExWNYer replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Here's my post: "It's not about whether or not he's a good player, because he is. It's about value, and the Bills didn't get it with their pick. Although they needed a safety, OL and DL were higher priorities. A trade down would have been the way to go, regardless of whether or not they lost Whitner. Bottom line: this kid better be a stud because it was stupid to take him that high." Where do I advocate reaching for any of those players? "A trade down would have been the way to go..." was my main point. That's the big deal. Maybe they couldn't find a partner, who knows? I just don't like this pick at #8. -

Amen. It's not about whether or not he's a good player, because he is. It's about value, and the Bills didn't get it with their pick. Although they needed a safety, OL and DL were higher priorities. The draft starts at noon, EST...the Bills should pick around 2:00. So set your VCR or TiVO or you're more than likely going to miss their pick.

Because he's a 2-gap tackle and the Bills will be employing a 1-gap scheme.

With the # 8 pick the Vikings select....
ExWNYer replied to Blue Chipper's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Don't get me wrong...I'd be very happy if the Bills took Davis. My scenario was only speculation if the Bills were interested in Justice. Obviously, we won't know their true thinking until they make their first selection. I'd rather have Davis or see them trade down than select Ngata. -
Who will be our starting QB this year?
ExWNYer replied to chetsap's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I concur. The Bills need Losman or Nall to pan out. If journeyman Holcomb wins the job, this team is headed for another dismal season and beyond, IMHO. -

Maybe. Or maybe they take Hawk. The point is, if Davis is still on the board at #8, the Rams would be the most logical trade partner for the Bills. No matter what, things are definitely getting interesting. -

Agreed on both points. If the Bills are interested in Justice, a likely trade partner for them would be St. Louis who is sitting at #11. The Rams would love to have Vernon Davis and could almost guarantee him with the #8 pick. Justice is climbing most draft boards and more than likely wouldn't be available in the Vikings slot at #17. -
How do you know that by only staying in a higher slot that the Bills will get a quality player? Did Mike Williams tell you?

If the Bills get pick 134 from the Texans...
ExWNYer replied to keithg's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Apparently, he double assed it since he reportedly showed up overweight and out of shape. -
I agree, T. Moulds and his fugging "advisor" got what they wanted, the Texans got what they wanted (at their price), and the Bills...well, they make the concession and settle for less than their asking price. Would Houston draft a receiver in the fifth and pay him what they're paying Moulds? Hell no. Plus, he's a seasoned vet, ready to step in and take the load off of Andre Johnson. If the Bills were settling for a fifth, it should have come with a swap of fourths.

If Moulds does go, the best part about it will be not having to hear his "spokesperson" run his mouth thru the media. Enough already. Your boy wants out, we get it.
-
You had me at idiot. This team has too many holes to fill on both lines to be taking a chance on a QB in Round 1, much less one most "experts" are divided on when it comes to his ability to play in the NFL. Agreed. He'll be gone in the 2-4 range, IMHO. Barring a trade, I say the Saints take him at #2 since they've acquired Brees. No way is he around at #8 for the Bills.

Stop making sense, Tipster. Are you trying to be the voice of reason around here or something? Just what this board needs...a rational thinker. Sheesh!
-
...who takes every chance he can to diss the Bills and Sabres. In fact, he goes out of his way to make sure people here in Richmond know he is from Buffalo but in no way a fan of either team. He's made mention many times of his favorite NFL team, the Minnesota Vikings, and his favorite NHL team, the NY Rangers. His team preferences aside, I just don't like his style. I think he's too much of a kiss a$$ in his interviews. Thank God I got Sirius satellite radio! Their NFL radio and ESPN radio beat the hell out of the local sports hacks here. Plus Howard Stern and the many music channels are waaaaaaaaaay better than any of the garbage they play over the airwaves. BTW, I loved Howard Simon with WNSA/Empire. If he's as bad now as many of you say, it's a real shame. Truly a loss for Bills and Sabres fans everywhere.

Moulds likely to be cut very soon!
ExWNYer replied to Oneonta Buffalo Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
FWIW (from Allen Wilson of 'The Buffalo News'): "According to NFL sources, Reed got a four-year, $10 million contract that includes a $2 million signing bonus. " http://www.buffalonews.com/editorial/20060...?tbd1064548.asp Could the "NFL sources" be Clayton? Funny, but I can't seem to find the specific terms listed anywhere else, either. -
Levy on the verge of destroying his legacy.
ExWNYer replied to Is Marv Awake?'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Really?? Because he hasn't signed anyone that you've heard of before???When the fug did you ever run a pro football front office???! Get a grip, down some retatta, and give the man a chance to fail before you deem him a failure. The "ICE" mentality on this board these days is fugging unbelievable. Waaaaaaaaaay too many 13 year olds posting before learning how to develop a cognitive thought. Oops, am I guilty of reverse ageism? -
I think many people on this board are just frustrated with a six year playoff drought and the thought of a franchise record seventh straight...not to mention that this team seems to be in a perpetual state of disarray with a front office direction that can best be called uncertain. Having said that, I agree with you that some of the personal barbs lobbed at Ralph and Marv are unwarranted. Ageism is a little recognized discrimination that is alive and well, unfortunately. How ironic that many of the same people making 'Depends' jokes about Mr. Wilson are probably barely out of diapers themselves. In the immortal words of George Bernard Shaw, "Youth is wasted on the young." All in all, a nice post Yoho. BTW, I'm partial to 36Cs myself so it's not just the whippersnappers on this board. GO BILLS!!!

Take it to the political board, mister. We already cut our locker room "Lawyer".
-
He's still under contract. Many were speculating that he would be released after Bentley was signed but Sirius NFL Radio said that the Browns were contemplating moving Faine to guard. The Bills should at least inquire about him, IMHO. All Cleveland can do is say no.

C'mon, dude. That's not fair...we all know they're napping.
