  1. Again, they're not trying to eek out a win to try and preserve a playoff spot. In that scenario, I could see going conservative and maybe hoping for a break down the line. So you're afraid to play now? Why not just forfeit then? The same non-QB and non-line just got 7 yards. Thanks, man...
  2. 5-8. No playoffs. 3 yards to go, not 10. Go conservative. Thanks, "coach".
  3. His decision to punt on 4th & 3 from Atlanta's 38 sealed it for me. He's as game day dumb as Jauron. Go for it or at least try a long FG. 5-8 and you punt from there for cripes sake??! Bring on the next no-name failure to "lead" this train wreck.
  4. If it's not Buffalo (which it won't be), I couldn't care less.
  5. Way to know your audience. Newbies.
  6. Honestly, whether you're bashing him or defending him, who gives a rat's a$$??! He's gone....love it or hate it...good, bad, or indifferent. Can we all just get on with our post-Peters football lives now, please? Cripes.
  7. Agreed. I also want to see, Hardy, Steve Johnson, & Maybin (maybe some at LB) get in, take their lumps, and see what (if anything) they can do. Evaluation and auditions for next year should begin this week. Get some film of these guys for whoever takes over in the front office at the end of the year. How do you know that Brohm "is for next year"?? He was brought in by this front office, wasn't he? Maybe the new regime won't want anything to do with him. Get him some reps now and give the incoming regime some game tape with which to work.
  8. I saw it live...once. I refused to back up the TiVO to see it again. I remember saying to my wife as it happened, "OMG, he just had his ankle snapped in half or just completely shredded his knee." I felt a lump in the pit of my stomach. I knew it was serious but just couldn't watch it again. Partly because of the thought of who we'd just lost but mostly because of how horrific it looked the first time I saw it in real speed. The cart, the air splint, and the look on Wood's face confirmed for me that I didn't need to watch it again. I can't watch it slowed down. Good luck to you in your recovery, Eric, and get well soon. This is the biggest suck in a completely sucky season.
  9. Pay attention next time and learn something about football. In the meantime, STFU.
  10. Often times, '-in-waiting' situations have a way of not materializing. Former 'chic' coordinator Jason Garrett in Dallas and Gregg Williams (then in Washington under Joe Gibbs) are two who come quickly to mind. If Chris Polian were to be offered the chance to take a GM job to his liking with some team now, why wouldn't he? Suppose his dad, Bill, decides he doesn't want to retire quite so soon after all? Things have a way of not always working out as planned and aren't always as black & white as they appear. If you're offered an opportunity that you really like and makes sense, you take it as it may never come along again. Maybe that's the point. It might just be that he'd relish the chance to get out from under his father's shadow and make a name for himself. What better way than to turn around a moribund franchise like Buffalo rather than slide into a situation where everything is already in place. There's something to be said for taking on a difficult challenge and not just taking the path of least resistance. Imagine the challenge of trying to take the former franchise your dad turned into perenial Super Bowl contenders and raising them from the dead and then trumping dad by finally taking them over the hump. That would be the story of legend. Sliding into the driver's seat in Indy doesn't establish your legacy. That's like being the poor sap who'll one day have to take over the QB reigns from Peyton Manning. Chris could be hailed as a possible conquering hero in Buffalo vs. being expected to maintain a standard of excellence established by his father, not him. Just sayin'...food for thought.
  11. Trolls, obviously...or Perry, his wife, & his agent. BTW, for me, the choice for HC would be Cowher (even if it is unrealistic)...not even close.
  12. +1...well said, aj. I lost my mom much too early to non-Hodgkins lymphoma in January of '08 and it still hurts. She was the best person I ever knew. Very few of us get out of this life without having personally known &/or loved someone who has been claimed by cancer. Thoughts and prayers to Chris and his family.
  13. If by "well" you mean better than DJ, then I agree. You can't make chicken salad out of chicken shite which is basically what he has to do given this roster. Here's to hoping that he does Fe-well!
  14. aj, he didn't sound like he was giving some politically correct answer. Some callers and the host had asked him if he'd be interested in coaching again and he said he was flattered but he had done his time and wanted to enjoy his "golden years" with his family, specifically his grandkids. Like I said, he never waffled or hemmed and hawed so I believe he was being very sincere. He's no spring chicken and I just don't think you'll see him doing the coaching grind again. Stranger things have happened but I say he'll stick to his guns.
  15. I was driving home from work when a buddy in Wheatfield texted me. I thought he was fugging with me and then I heard it confirmed on the radio. I felt like a huge, crushing weight had been lifted from my fandom and actuallly found myself thinking about this week's game against the Jagoffs. At least for one week, there's something to anticipate rather than dread. I never in a million years thought that Ralph would have the stones to fire DJ before the year was over and eat his remaining contract. Kudos...for now, anyway. He still has to sell me that he's commited to making real changes in this organization. An experienced, knowledgeable football man has to be brought in as GM and John Guy needs to be shown the door. We'll see what transpires this offseason. GO BILLS!
  16. Forget it. Marty has said a couple of times this year on Sirius NFL radio - when asked by his co-host if he'd like to return to the NFL coaching ranks - that his time in coaching was over...said he had 30 great years in football as a player and coach and that he wanted to enjoy his family and grandchildren. He sounded firm and never waffled. He's not a realistic option, IMO.
  17. DJ is worse because he's "coaching" the Bills. Millen doesn't affect the franchise (thank God) so I couldn't care less about him. But either way, they're two turds in a punch bowl.
  18. I was wondering the same thing...never heard. He seemed to be walking fine down the tunnel so maybe it was not serious and just precautionary. Let's hope so...he's been a rare treat in yet another bleak Bills season.
  19. They let Walker go 6 days before the season began so, no.
  20. Thanks for coming onto an opposing message board to talk after a gut-wrenching loss and not being a troll. It's truly refreshing. Bills' fans needed a win in the worst way. Morale during the Jauron regime has been an ever downward spiral into the abyss. We still know the Bills aren't going anywhere but it's nice to get that consecutive-division-losses-monkey off our backs and not feel completely miserable for one week, anyway. I've never had a problem with the Jets, it's the cheating Pats* and dulfelons that I can't stand. Welcome and come back for more football talk anytime. Good luck to you guys the rest of the way (other than in Toronto, of course. )
  21. It's been "a long afternoon" against the run for the Bills all year long yet they've been in every game other than the dulfelons game. Carolina's hardly a juggernaut and struggled to beat winless Tampa Bay. This game's a toss-up despite the Panthers' stout running game and the Bills' porous run 'D', IMO.
  22. Lack of size + poor tackling + bad scheme + ridiculous injuries + no LB depth heading into the season + Jauron = possible
  23. Define "thump". It's not likely they'll run for 318 yards like the Jest did.
  24. Tipster, it's scary...I think a lot of us are feeling the same way. More than anything, I'm pissed that this team has made me ambivalent. I used to live and die with every play and now these pricks have me questioning why I waste my time on them. The only explanation I can come up with is that, after 40 years, they are in my blood...but I'm in dire need of a transfusion. Your post mirrors my feelings exactly. The following is a verbatim text I sent to a fellow Bills fan and friend of mine in Wheatfield, shortly after the game: I hate Ralph Wilson & the front office like you wouldn't believe but I hate myself even more for caring about this piece-of-sh%! "organization".
  25. 2009 Buffalo Bills: Looking towards the future...we ain't got Dick.
