What did we get for Marshawn Lynch?
ExWNYer replied to Jerry Jone's Toupee's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A one-way plane ticket out of Buffalo... -
I find myself increasingly in this camp, especially with each passing year that the Bills miss the playoffs. I just don't care as much anymore. The NFL "product" has gotten worse, IMHO, and I'm way more of a Bills fan than an NFL fan. If/when the Bills ever leave WNY, I'll be done with the NFL forever.

Players drafted by the Bills that won the Super Bowl
ExWNYer replied to 1B4IDie's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Tom Nutten (7th Round, 1995) with the St. Louis Rams (Super Bowl XXXIV). -
I was 'Dom Iannello' on the D&C back in the day. ICE (Brian) is still kicking. He's in R.Rich's fantasy football league with me. A lot of the people listed throughout this thread (like R.Rich) still post, just maybe not as frequently. I find myself lurking far more than posting these days, especially during the season. The tone of the board has changed a lot and not for the better, IMHO. Yes, the Bills have sucked for almost a decade and a half but that's no excuse for some posters to treat fellow posters like garbage. If the team gives you that much angst, why subject yourself to the grief? Find a more enjoyable hobby. The constant bitching & moaning and personal attacks are really a put off. Anyhoo...didn't mean to hijack the thread. Back to your regularly scheduled reminiscing.

Playoffs : KC Chiefs at Indy Colts
ExWNYer replied to Just Jack's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I had similar thoughts about 'The Comeback', Dave; however, I didn't think it until the Colts scored their TD on the drive following Luck's INT which led to the 38-10 KC lead. As for the Bills, I was watching the Oilers-Bills game at the house of another die-hard Bills fans along with a third Bills fan. The third guy was an eternal optimist, always saying "we're gonna win this game" whenever the Bills got down...but not on this day. When Reich threw the pick six to open the third and put the Bills in a 32-3 deficit, his spirit was pretty much broken...something I'd never seen from him. The other guy was pretty despondent, as well (who wasn't?). When the Bills scored their first TD to make it 35-10, I turned to them and said, "Well, it's a start...we still have time." That barely elicited a response but they now at least had a pulse. The Bills' next TD, making it 35-17, brought them to life and the excitement was back. By the time Steve Christie booted the game winner in OT, we were jumping up and down and ended up in a heap in the middle of the floor and the homeowner had suffered a sprained ankle. LOL Good times. -
'Clumping Platelets'. Clumpy always provided great salary cap info. I think he hangs mostly on BillsZone but I haven't seen him post on this board in a while.

Agreed. The Bills need to retain him. He's a vital cog on D. If they're serious about making the playoffs next year, they need to sign & keep him. They don't need to create an unnecessary and avoidable hole and they have the money to keep him in the fold. Best case: Sign him to a long-term deal, whether or not it makes him the highest paid safety in the league. Worst case: He doesn't want to stay in Buffalo...tag & trade him and get value in return. Simply letting him walk is not an acceptable option, IMO.

Colts - They've beaten some of the best teams in the league this year...the 49ers on the road as well as the Seahawks & Broncos at home. They also beat the Chiefs in KC a couple of weeks ago. I've said all year that the Chiefs are paper tigers and I'm sticking to it. Colts win at home. Saints - I don't like the Saints on the road, especially in a cold weather stadium, but they have a good enough D and the weapons on O to edge out the Iggles who won arguably the weakest division in football. Saints win on the road in a close one. Bengals - They're just a better all-around team and are capable of getting on a roll. They're at home and the Chargers did everything in their power last week to try and back out of the playoffs against the Chiefs reserves. Bengals win at home. Packers - Solely for the 'Aaron Rodgers Factor'. Logically, the 49ers are the pick and the better team but Rodgers flips the script here. With a game under his belt along with top WR Randall Cobb, the Pack can get on a roll, as well. Packers win at home.

It's Monday, season is over and you're doing Wawrow's job
ExWNYer replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
"Coach, with the league trending towards athletic, big-play tight ends, the offense in need of an upgrade, and the likely departure of Scott Chandler, will drafting a tight end of that type be one of your top priorities or will you be content to stay with limited-potential spare parts such as Tony Moeaki and Lee Smith?" or "Coach, it's well documented that CJ Spiller was plagued by a high ankle sprain for much of the season; however, when healthy, he appeared to be miscast in this offense. One thing your predecessor did very well was utilizing CJ to his full potential. Will you and Nathaniel Hackett be revamping your schemes to take advantage of your most explosive and dynamic play-maker?" -
New overtime rules are awful. Great article attached
ExWNYer replied to Estro's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not true. The NHL overtime rules differ greatly from the way the game is played in regulation. They play four on four in overtime versus five on five in regulation. The overtime period is only five minutes versus twenty minutes in regulation. Then they go to a shootout which is nothing at all like anything in regulation. That's akin to the NFL playing an overtime that is only 25% of its regulation quarters with approximately 20% fewer players on the field then going to a FG kicking contest if the fewer number of players in the shortened session can't manage to score. -
Just threw four votes your way.

What IF we do the unthinkable on Sunday?...
ExWNYer replied to Buffalo Beeeews's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Um...the Cheatriots* won. BTW, what is "the unthinkable"? The Bills forfeit before kickoff? Other than that, nothing is unthinkable. Just look at the first seven weeks of this season. It's been proven that anything can and does happen in the NFL every week. -
Put down the crack pipe my toothless friend.

Overdue. Buh-bye. -
Link??? Good God. ^^^ This. I work with a guy who is as big a die-hard Vikings fan as most of the posters on this site are die-hard Bills fans. He's not a "homer" or the "I've heard of him...sign him!" type. He's a very level-headed, insightful, intelligent football fan. He told me on more than one occasion that Tarvaris Jackson was awful. He was happy to see him leave the Vikes. My brother-in-law is in that same camp. He grew up in South Dakota and lived many years in Minneapolis, a lifelong Minnesota fan living and breathing Vikings football. Jackson is not, was not, and will not be the answer. If he's so great, why could he not stick in Minnesota as a backup? If he's so great, why was Seattle willing to let him go the first time for a mere 7th Round draft choice? If he's so great, why could he not even see the field for the Bills? Maybe his umpteenth chance will finally be the one where he settles in and finds a home with the Seahawks long-term but I wouldn't bet on it. He's nothing more than a bad backup like a bunch of others currently on NFL teams and slightly better than the myriad of street FAs still hanging on for a shot. Please stop the "we should never have let Tarvaris Jackson go" diatribe. It's ridiculous overreaction to a tough loss last night and embarrassing to boot.

I'm sure he'll want the Bills to count as a divisional win come end of the year when they're trying to get into the playoffs. They're 2-0 so he can say what he wants but they're no juggernaut at this point. They could just as easily be 0-2 and looking up at the rest of the division had the Bills not repeatedly shot themselves in the foot and had Geno Smith not thrown three inopportune INTs. Two divisional wins by a total of five points against two teams picked by many to be amongst the worst in the NFL. Color me unimpressed but, by all means, carry on, Vince.

It's about time you questioned my football acumen but please don't question my character...it can be found in the link below. Perhaps you can find some character for yourself: http://animatedtv.about.com/od/showsaz/tp/top50chrctrs.htm As far as dressing goes, any of these will do: http://www.convatec.com/products/wound/product-type/pl-92fd43ac-8ab5-4b8a-8c72-09e485969eef/

I'd weigh in but, alas, I don't have a scale... If I must take a side, I'll take a side salad...
