Players the Bills have met with at Combine
jethro_tull replied to gonzo1105's topic in The Stadium Wall
most likely because they haven't rolled out the offensive players yet..... -
One of the best in Bills history- at the 1990 game when we overcame the Broncos in the 4th quarter to win. The Broncos defense was TOUGH but the Bills was tougher. The Bills scored 20 points in 77 seconds to earn the win 29-28. The crowd willed the defense to these heights and it was THE game where 12th man was born. Wow what a game! Corny Bennett!

The Mike Willimas pick in 2002 was such an incredibly bad failure that it made the bills gun shy about picking an offensive lineman for years after that. In fact it wasn't until 7 horrible, long years later that the Bills picked an O-lineman higher than the fourth round (2009, Eric Wood, first round). This had a horrible impact on the team and a big contributor to the drought years.

worse than buddy nix? "Marv Levy and Buddy Nix were bad too, and I think Bills fans really overrate Doug Whaley." Oh no they don't.......his draft success was worst in the league in terms of home grown starters.

adams and garret- all the way.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i2FW1WJc0lg

He absolutely deserved it. The Bills are good but Jackson had a multi dimensional indisputable advantage by having Derrick Henry at RB. Capping it off is that the Bills had more wins in a tougher schedule and Josh all but eliminated his turnover struggles. Way to go JA, this is big!

With good hands, a bit taller than typical and who is graciously unselfish.

Haven't you seen that All Aboard the Wide Receiver Train Choo Choo thread This team so desperately needs a fast, deep threat WR.

Bills Have Low Percentage of First Read Pass Completion- Why?
jethro_tull replied to jethro_tull's topic in The Stadium Wall
I left the Chief's passing performance out of the original post hoping someone would fill it in, thanks. The Chiefs were running roughshod on the Bills in completing quick pass plays. Protecting against the big play maybe but it became death by 1000 small cuts after a while. In addition to receiver separation and play design scheme I would also add to the list quality defensive schemes and execution as to why the Bills cannot execute first read quickly developing precision shorter passes. -
Bills Have Low Percentage of First Read Pass Completion- Why?

I had to analyze it because I see us getting burned by other teams who can do it very well (KC, LA Rams, Detroit). I don't blame the QB FYI. -
Bills Have Low Percentage of First Read Pass Completion- Why?

This is a tracked statistic? -
Unless the call is a bubble (quick pass to WR behind the LOS) the Bills have noticeable difficulty hitting the first read in pass plays. Rarely do we see a quickly timed and complete slant, hitch or go route. More often than not Josh winds up scanning the field, waiting for someone to get open and rolling out to avoid pressure. The designed pass play seems to never connect in a quick, well timed precise way. What are the reasons for this? It really needs to be fixed for the offense to be more successful. 1) Play execution (receiver cannot get open, QB makes errant pass, poor route running, blocking fails, dropped pass) 2) Play design and installation (not enough practice time or instruction of method to develop the precision timing needed) Others? Completing well timed pass plays (other teams do this, we know the ones) takes much of the pressure off of the O-Line and QB and lets the ball get out quickly and helps to move the chains.

Wide Receiver Train Full Speed Ahead- CHOO CHOO!
jethro_tull replied to Pete's topic in The Stadium Wall
Agreed 200%. Need more convincing? How many times (percent) is the called pass play executed quickly and efficiently- to the first or even second read? HARDLY EVER ! Josh winds up scrambling around tryin to fine ANYONE to throw to. KC by comparison is a precision machine when it comes to executing the called pass play shorty after the ball is snapped. -
I don't see why they wouldn't have. If I were Spags I would have had the Chiefs D practice that play including the personnel on that package until they had it mastered. Bills should have changed it up in hindsight. I don't disagree with KC being the better team. The extra week gave them a rest and recuperation and practice advantage. With the margins razor thin in that game it could easily have made the difference. Three of the 4 division winners should get byes. And KC was rested and overprepared
-
I would like to see the top 3 division winners get byes and have three wild card teams. No doubt KC used the extra time to develop schemes how to stop our 4th down QB sneak and develop their own 4th and short plays. It was an advantage for them.
-
Possibly a DC Upgrades at multiple positions right off the bat- WR, safety, corner, DL.
-
NO. The Chiefs D schemes, players and coaching was superior and deserved the win. Our play calling was too predictable.
-
NO but there are needs- maybe a new DC and spread around the roster upgrades there are plenty to go around.

What are you doing to get out of this funk?
jethro_tull replied to Rigotz's topic in The Stadium Wall
Definitely a gut punch but I am counting my blessings. KC had a superior defense and DC and HFA. No chance in that game. It was still a fun season and this team is right up there.
