  1. Just understand that if we draft Okoye it will be to play the same DT position Tripplett, McCargo, and Williams are ideally suited at. He would probably still upgrade the three but how important is that in the scheme of our needs?

Only important if he is rated so high by them that they have to take him. Otherwise , a run stopping stud LB, a stud CB or a RB, if Willis is gone, would seem to make more sense in round 1. There is more than one round as I'm sure you know and good to great players can be found in Rd. 2 and so on.

  2. and youth too!

    Jason Peters - 6'4" 328lbs 1/22/82

    Derrick Dockery - 6'6" 335lbs 9/7/80

Melvin Fowler - not too much size at 6'3" 295lbs, but JP has to be able to see over SOMEONE. and he is the oldest at 3/31/79 (just about to turn 28)

    Langston Walker - 6'8" 345lbs 9/3/79

    Terrance Pennington - 6'7" 319lbs 9/25/83

all locked up and ready to play...

    nice work marv

I believe the Colts and the Bears were the two smallest teams in the league last year and the Cardinals were the largest. Can they protect the passer, stop the blitz and make the holes for the runner is the real question. Not saying they won't be outstanding but alot of guys measurements look great on paper but when you seem them play it's UH OH !! The jury is definetly out on the right side of our line

  3. All this tallk about Okoye may be eventually be irrelevant. His stock in the draft is rising. He may be gone before we even have a chance.

And it may also be irrelevant because the Bills may have him rated lower than the draft gurus. All the conjecture and speculation is fun but their draft board will probably look completely different than we imagine (ex. 2006)

  4. I think without over analyizing the "scheme" thing he would make sense because he would be better than any DL we have on the roster (if he is the player that everyone says he is). The DT situation is bleak. I think he could probably in any system, with the right coaching;he seems quite intelligent and motivated.

  5. I agree with the need for a DT that can rush and stop the run. However, the staff apparently thinks that is what they have in McCargo.

I agree with most of the things you have said ,Mickey, other than this since we don't know what will still transpire in free agency and the draft. If they draft Okoye and another DT, or add one in free agency, it may be an indication that they don't have all that much confidence in McCargo. Thanks

  6. I know it's a stretch. But just try for a brief second to "imagine" yourself a Raiderette fan.

Your team is coming off the past season's debacle, with the Offensive ship rudderless, aimless, and in a free fall.

How do you imagine you as a fan of that team could possibly think there were any positives to take from it.

Who the hell is their QB anyway? Their coach is in a ten year old time warp and their OC was in the Bed and Breakfast business for the past three years.

You'd probably want to chit-can the entire lot of 'em.

i.e., throw out the baby with the bathwater.

Now do the right thing and drive that foolish thought about being a Raiderette fan from your head.

On the count of three, you will awaken and remember nothing but good things.

    One

    Two

    Three

Would the good things include the 41-17 drubbing of the Bills in 2005 ?

  7. That`s right

This isn't gonna happen but if we aren't going to draft Willis, I'd like to see Lynch and possibly trade up with picks and/or McGahee and get Chris Houston of Arkansas/CB or the Penn State LB.

Having Lynch and Houston or Lynch and Posluszny even if it meant not having a pick in the third would be sweet !!. Any of those three would look good in the 32nd best uniforms in the NFL.

  8. The annually overlooked special teamer has made plays when called upon in the past. Del Rio seemed to hint that a shakeup at wideout was possible. "The best way to challenge guys is with playing time. They tend to separate themselves."

He could eventually challenge for kickoff return duties.

As the team's No. 6 receiver, Hankton is mostly a special teams force.

Sounds like a special teams Ace. Nothing more. Could take Aikens job?

Man what a Heist !! We stole the #6 receiver of the Jaguars. I like having great special teams, just would rather have a few great players on defense... but that's just me. I know, I know we're not finished yet. I'm standing by for the Next huge signing !

  9. That`s what I keep saying. Time for Marv`s back. I think there`s a 50-50 chance we pick him or a corner

If McGahee is traded Lynch would be a great pick-up. There seems to be plenty of DB's meaning one should drop to round 2, but only two highly rated backs and I'm not so sure Lynch shouldn't be numero uno.

However, I would be happy with Okoye, Willis (What a Beast) Chris Houston or Lynch. I would like to avoid CB-Hall and WR Jarrett if at all possible.

  10. I turned it on, and my background is obviously the Buffalo Bills.

The players they show are London Fletcher, then Nate Clements, then Willis McGahee.

Madden curse for leaving the team? Hmm...

Wonder if the Raiders background shows Langston Walker ?

  11. I think what part of the problem people have with these signings is the teams they are coming from.. Neither team (Washington, Oakland) we necessarily good.. Awful to be quite honest. But, signing players doesn't equal success (i.e. spikes/sam adams/london fletcher/jeff posey/the hamburgler). I could understand the questioning of these signings, as I myself feel skepticism.. But, no matter what any fan says, they don't know if these will help us or not. So, I am going to save my opinions until after the players play.

I believe the Redskins were pretty high in the running dept. and Dockery is well thought of. But the other two don't excite me much. However, with three solid linemen(Peters,Dockery, and Fowler), the Bills need two more to step up and they COULD be dominant. Get a running game going and no telling how good Evans. Parish and company can be. Go Bills!

  12. First, you are correct, the fact that you coached high school kids, to me, is as relevant as having a Punt, Pass and Kick trophy in the eight-to-ten-year-old category. Second, my point is simply that I know very little about Xs and Os and yet even I know you can not, in any example of common sense, judge how Langston Walker will perform in Buffalo based on what you witnessed in Oakland. I've seen plenty of Raider games myself, and to have so many people say he sucked there so he'll suck here is just ludicrous.

Ludicrous ?!! To say he won't suck would be wishful thinking , at best. Believe me I hope Walker, who has terrible footwork, can be coached up and the Bills blow people away. Just not convinced. Again I am excited about Dockery, Fowler and Peters... and the prospects of Pennington, Butler, et. al. Just not as optimistic as many others... about Walker. Diminshing my time on the job does not increase your argument, however. BUT I HOPE YOU ARE RIGHT AND I AM THE FOOL on this subject. Thanks

  13. It's no surprise that people want to criticize a single player on an OL without even once considering the scheme the guy was playing in. Are there so many people here who know less than me about this sport that didn't see the Raiders QB drop back deep on every single passing play they tried to execute?

I hope I am wrong but I have only missed two Raider games in the past five years, ) only been to five in person. To say People know less than you is irresponsible ( I don't like to toot my horn but I coached for 11 years in high school and at a Junior College until my back gave out, which I really believe is irrelevant. But I would love to match my knowledge of the game with you). The point is McNally hasn't done magic since he has been here and I hope that people who know more than YOU or I can do something with this guy. A line of Peter, Dockery, Fowler and ?,? could be very good. Thanks

  14. The Raider have been my west coast 4pm game for years on DTV....Langston has not been as bad as you make him out to be....he is a much better run blocker then you give him credit for....infact in 2005 he played inside he did an excellent job in the run game before getting hurt........

his problem has always been is pass protection....He reminds me of another ex Bills RT who ran block real well, but was only an average passs blocker......

maybe mcnally can work his magic on Langston, unluck that other RT

I hope you're right but I haven't seen a whole lot of "magic" since he got here. Unless you consider" Ladies and Gentlemen..I will now make this QB disappear under this defensive line, watch closely as it will be quick" !

  15. Good opening post. I agree. Lets get a little positive. Yeah its been tough but this negative talk doesn't help anyone. Go Bills.

I really don't think this board's "negative" talk is going to have any effect on the field in the fall. The team hasn't made the playoffs in about a decade so to see skepticism on at least two of the three pick-ups is just honest criticism, I think all of us want the same thing. A SuperBowl VICTORY. Go Bills !!

P.S. Even if we only signed Dockery , it was a great day.
