Who's going to the Draft: Reprise
BillsCelticsAngelsBama replied to Mark Vader's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hey Mark ! I can't make it this year due to health issues with a family member, but will try and get back there next year. Hopefully, we can hook up before next year and try and get together at the ESPN zone for dinner like the last couple of times (2004 and 2005). Take Care and have a good trip, Randy Williams -

Maybe Kansas City.. if they don't address it at #5 -
Yeah !!! No one had heard of Eric Flowers until we took him late in the first round and looked how he turned out. Actually, Thomas looks the part but who is to know ? He has the great size/speed ratio and we could sure use a receiver. I'm sure the Bills have so much tape on these guys to make an informed decision .. Dear Lord I hope so !!

If the Bills were smart...

While I agree with you that the over-use of Lindall in the redzone is a MAJOR problem, watching the Patriots game last year has to make you know that the pass rush/DB coverage is way below average and is why the Bills are still far away from being elite. -
BINGO !! And wouldn't two first half drives with 14 points on the board (rather than 6) look awfully nice..... and put some heat on the other teams. The miserable REDZONE offense must be improved via WR or TE.....or both.... though there is more than one round in this draft, so we should all take a deep breath if they go a different direction in round 1.

Will the Jared Allen trade..
BillsCelticsAngelsBama replied to FightClub's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am not necessarily a fan of drafting Albert (although his highlights are pretty convincing), but if he is as good as advertised, then he will, at least by the middle of year one, be better than both Butler and Walker. To go from a decent to a very good Offensive line is never bad........ though that would mean passing on supposedly more pressing needs. -
Will the Jared Allen trade..

I am kind of hoping that the Chiefs will be willing to take an Offensive Lineman or Matt Ryan with the fifth pick and then move to the 11th spot for Derrick Harvey. The Chiefs have around 13 picks now and might be willing to move up to get two quality guys in round one. Probably won't happen but ... who knows -

TBD Mock draft: Who do the Bills pick at #11
BillsCelticsAngelsBama replied to Ramius's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It does scream to me "Buffalo Bill" -
I thought opening day was when Jacksonville or Denver come in to town and ruin our lives. Not this year though !!

I don't mean to sound sarcastic, but to say we would mess up the Denney/Schobel/Kelsay rotation is somewhat amusing. I believe that Harvey may be better than all of them and may show it by year two. I think that is something that can afford to be messed up. However, I would be thrilled with your mock. I really have no opinion on who they should take in RD. 1, since there are so many areas of need but to those who are concerned about VALUE... it doesn't matter if you take the 17th rated player at #11, if #'s 11 thru 16 aren't what the team needs. We don't pick again until 41, so barring a trade, you get the guy that is going to help the team the most. If Limas Sweed and/or Devin Thomas are ranked 20th by Todd McShay or Mel Kiper and they scream "what a reach" on draft day, ... it won't make any difference in week 7 when one of them scores two touchdowns and makes the pivotal third down catch to keep the winning drive going. Here's hoping the Bills can kick some butt with all of their picks. Take Care All

Malcolm Kelly on Sirius this morning

I agree with you but if the Bills did draft him, he would instantly be their second best DT, behind Willia...er, Stroud. And that's not all bad -

What was the most painful Buffalo Loss
BillsCelticsAngelsBama replied to Tonawanda Troy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Any old guys like me (48) out there ? The toughest loss for me was in either 1974 or 1975 when we lost to the Dolphins 35-30. They were a great team with Griese and Csonka and we had O.J. and Ferguson. I remeber Bob Chandler scoring in the back of the endzone to give us a 30-21 lead and the Dolphins scored late in the fourth to make it 30-28. We got the ball back and only had to make one first down to run the clock out and Coach Lou Saban inexplicably calls a pass... that was intercepted. You know what,LOL it still bothers me, as you can probably tell. The closest feeling I had to this was the Cowboys game last year. But the Dolphins loss was worse !! -
Considering the Bills have far more needs than premium picks, I think the first pick will dictate the next two. If Harvey is there and they have him rated as high as many do, you take him and then I think you must think seriously about holding off until round 3 for a CB. There should be a quality TE or receiver around with the 41 st pick but I think it would be risky to wait until the third in hopes of hitting it big at WR/TE. In the third round, someone like Charle Godfrey (I don't know if he is projected to still be there) would be nice. Otherwise, Brandon Flowers or Antoine Cason could be taken in the second round. Unfortunately,on day one, if we went Harvey/Merling in rd. 1 and Flowers/Cason/Porter in rd. 2 people would flip that we didn't get some offense (And I wouldn't blame 'em at all). There are upgrades needed at several positions and I wouldn't want the task of trying to meet those needs, while staying true to your board. Obviously a very important draft
