Rey is a guy that other teams will have to game plan for, not unlike Ray Lewis. Not saying he will be as good as him but I want him in a Bills uni, not on top of our QB's uni..... for the next dozen years
Why don't they just say."We never want to pick past 15 in the first round. Those Witten and Clark guys...overrated".
That being said, take Maualuga, Curry, Raji or Cushing if available (In that order).
Rey Maualuga is the best player in this draft. A bigger, better version of the safety for the Steelers. Have you guys seen him play? And have you seen him at the Senior Bowl practices? He is making the blockers look like statues. Oh but he looks a little fat..... anyone who questions his desire doesn't know much about him. He is a beast and I really don't want to see him tearin OUR QB's head off for the next twelve years. If we pass on him we are fools. Cushing is good but does not have near the instincts that Rey has. And no I am not a scout but I am a season ticket holder. Cushing has the measurables and is good but Maualuga is all-pro material.
But we'll probably draft the DE from Penn St. Gotta love those Lions!
Rey Maualuga is the best FOOTBALL player in this draft and if he is there at #11 and we don't take him then we can watch him destroy us for the next twelve years.
Even if they go after a Joey Porter type that doesn't mean you'll get him. Although the glamour of spending falls and winters can be very appealing to a young man some might rather play in other places than Buffalo.
The original post said " .. to have a player like Ray Lewis?". The point is this ridiculous notion that character is such a big priority on this team. what a joke. I would venture that this team doesn't have any more "character " guys than most other teams. It's a flawed argument to say that we would be selling our souls to have a high caliber team. Jim Leonhard is a high character guy and Ko Simpson is not. One is on a team that wants to win and the other is on a team that is continually trying to 'figure' out what to do. the Bills have had plenty of renegades and lawbreakers, so don't kid yourself that they care more about character than other teams do (except the Raiders, Cowboys, and Bengals.... which last time I checked do not employ Ray Lewis).
Oh no not at all. when you are at least eight players away from being a contender ( 3 OL. 2-3 DL. TE. 2 LB 1-2 safeties) and seeing ANY forums where we talk about losing with character. Been a fan since 1965 (5 years old) and would like to think the Bills will win one championship before I leave this world. Further, I am not bitter that so many times throughout the year when there are posts criticizing the team. the arrogant posters have the great comeback of... WE'RE DOOMED !! ......... Brilliant, ...but no not bitter. Would just like to cry for joy the way I did when the only other team I have rooted for since I was a little guy won a World championship.. the Anaheim Angels.
No, because Bills fans would rather lose with character. We had to keep KO and a midget safety that make plays, sometimes, way past the first down line. Can't believe DW fell all the way to the eighth slot !!! NOPE, no place for Leonhard around here... besides I heard he got a speeding ticket, when he was seventeen ---- thank GOD we got him outta here
Hard to believe they will be going for depth after round 4 when there are substandard holes everywhere (at least three below avg. in the O'line, 2-3 below avg. in the D'line. two below avg. in the LB core and at least one safety away from being avg. in the Safety ranks.
Unfortunately, the schedule won't allow us to play the AFC West and the NFC West next year. I really believe 7-9 was a mirage and the ONLY reason we still have the coach we have.
P.S. almost forgot the superior work at the TE position by our personnel department
We need to get at least two monster pass rushers. Whether it is one LB, one DL or two DL.
It looks like Reggie Corner and Leodis McKelvin know how to play this game and with any sort of pass rush, could do a better than adequate job. Off subject, is it just me or did Bryan Scott look like, possibly the worst defensive coverage back in the history of the NFL on Sunday ??
I think our best defensive end is the one we draft in Round 1 of the 2009 Draft, unless there is somebody in free agency that we can lure away (unlikely).
