  1. It is a interesting phenomena and will probably always be a factor as long as there are cities willing to pay the ransom to get a team. I think it will be harder and harder for cities to pay up because at some point, maybe now even, the people are going to revolt over spending that much taxpayer money (I'm there now) for something as unnecessary as a NFL team. And at some point I think the Pegula's of the world will start passing as well. But as long as there is some entity willing to pay, teams will jump.
  2. Yes there is. False hope is when someone gets their hopes up [for reasons largely in their heads] and end up disappointed. This applies to a lot of Bills fans when to came to Gailey for example. Right now Bills fans have hope in Rex. Only time will tell if it is false hope or not. You for example, may feel that a head coach with a sub .500 career record is accomplished. Some do not. Like I said earlier, success or flame out, with Rex one thing it will not be is boring.
  3. It's easy to explain. Rex is a Bill now so obviously he is great. Look back or remember when both the Gailey and Marrone hires were hailed as great right after they happened for other recent examples. I have my doubts about Rex based on past performance as I did with Marrone and Gailey. But only time will tell if Sexy Rexy turns it around or flames out. Until then enjoy the ride and give him your support is my advice. Rex is nothing if not entertaining.
  4. Shady didn't like being traded, or at least traded to Buffalo, and didn't like not being informed until the deal was done. I know it's the off season and things are slow but come on media, get over it and move on.
  5. See the quote above from WEO. But we can only hope he has learned what not to do from his Jets experience. And yes, I'd even take just a playoff game at this point as progress.
  6. Generally anyone who says everything about the Bills is rainbows and unicorns is considered good and has original insight by many here. But the reality is very few have any original insight, they mainly just rehash stuff they have read elsewhere. Particularly in the offseason where there isn't much to report on, yet they keep writing. The most reviled writer here is Sully. He often has "original insight" I suppose, but it is 99% negative. Which you might expect writing about a team that hasn't sniffed the playoffs in a decade and a half I suppose.
  7. Whaley has skin in that game though.
  8. His first two seasons there I believe. And then?
  9. Rex is acting now just like he did when he went to the Jets where he ended up going down in spectacular flames. Just look at the tat and the truck for example. He likes to talk, and likes to be a spectacle. I am basically ignoring all the bull **** right now. We will see soon enough what kind of a head coach he really is. He certainly has more than enough talent on this team to make the playoffs. He could not backup his talk in NYC, lets see how he does on a Bills team loaded with talent.
  10. You see some players at restaurants and bars in the SJF area and downtown Rochester as well (Dinosaur BBQ for example) every camp. I've never seen any out terribly late or drunk. But to get out a little to decompress with teammates is probably a good thing.
  11. Just curious, if nice, well spoken, and hard working are your main criteria how do you know Taylor and Cassel aren't all of those as well?
  12. Or Ej is 2nd or 1st. Camp and preseason will decide the order as it should be. The only tie left to EJ's draft is Whaley so there should not be much bias involved in the decision. I just hope whoever comes out on top turns out to be a competent game manager.
  13. Lets hope you get that chance!
  14. That's because the Bills have sucked EVERY SINGLE YEAR camp has been at SJF.
  15. I wouldn't be surprised if scalpers are buying up as many as they can though this season!
  16. I am surprised at the voting with so many people not wanting a change. The current PAT does nothing as it is missed so rarely. I would have guessed that option to be the lowest vote count but instead it is the highest.
  17. Hopefully it doesn't come to this but, if Manuel doesn't show anything this year either will it be time to admit a mistake and move on, or will we be hearing this time next year how it wasn't really year 3 for him because of not playing enough the first two years, or Marrone/Hackett stunted his growth as a QB, and other reasons? I just get the feeling it will be the latter from a lot of people here.
  18. Many hardcore Bills fans do.
  19. Because it isn't effective. There is all kinds of research being done to try and come up with a helmet that it safe. But the problem generally isn't the external object hitting the head causing the concussion. It is the brain hitting the inside of the head due to the sudden and quick stop caused by the hit. And that is difficult, if not impossible, to solve simply with a helmet.
  20. A lot of young guys all along have voluntarily quit playing in college and the NFL due to fears of their health down the road? Huh, news to me.
  21. Another, this one in college. Wonder if this will become a trend now. http://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/ncaafb/vanderbilt-qb-patton-robinette-quitting-football-citing-injuries/ar-AAa6ckD?ocid=ansFOXsports11
  22. And Shady, in my opinion. But this was what Pegula did immediately with the Sabres as well, but in that case he had a terrible GM spending his money and it was foolish as well as reckless. At least the Bills have a capable GM to go on a shopping spree with Pegulas money.
  23. Amazingly bad premise. 3rd and 2 ... why not 3rd and an inch? Hehe
  24. He did much better this week. Sadly I know this because my wife and daughter had it on the TV and I couldn't veto because the NCAA tournament wasn't on.
