  1. Actually they overwhelmingly picked the Bills against the Giants, 7-1.
  2. Anyplace where there are Americans close, like overseas military bases, should do pretty well. Other places will fail much like NFL Europe did.
  3. I agree with you as well. Take care of the things you mentioned and for gods sake stop all of the !@#$ing stupid personal fouls and they will win. The refs calls are, and will be for the foreseeable future, inconsistent. And more importantly, equally inconsistent. The Bills had the better talent overall Sunday. But were undisciplined, got out coached and lost.
  4. You don't really expect the NFL to drop all of the revenue that Thursday games generate because of "long/short week syndrome" do you? The NFL is a business first and cares far more about the bottom line than it does any perceived lack of fairness by any teams fans.
  5. FWIW, two mathematical models predict: FiveThirtyEight predicts a 9-7 record. Amos predicts 10-6 .
  6. Added Cortana and a new model called Amos.
  7. http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/skeptical-football-should-marcus-mariota-book-his-flight-to-canton-titans/
  8. CBS Added. Knee jerk due to the Bills suckjob against the Giants? Maybe the injuries?
  9. Yes yes yes! I have been an advocate of this for some time. Not so much robots, but all kinds of camera feeds to computers in the box with software analyzing the play in real time and signaling to a ref on the field when it detects penalties is actually feasible with the state of technology today. And the NFL certainly has the funds to develop such a system. Of course then the cheatriats could hack the system to gain an advantage
  10. Hey wait a minute .. only ONE?!?!?! I thought Bills fans knew how to party!!!!
  11. We have already seen how creative he can be, the answer is very. What we will see now is how effective he can be. So far that answer has been not very.
  12. I was listening to an interview on the radio this morning about this, it is pretty interesting. Apparently Draft Kings employees with access to current data have been playing Fan Duel and Fan Duel employees playing Draft Kings. This is illegal on wall street as insider trading, but apparently there is nothing (currently) illegal about this. According to this interview, one person on Draft Kings has made over $320K on Fan Duel so far this season this way and there are several others doing the same thing. Nice gig if you can get it.
  13. CBS with Spread (Bills -3.5 ) : 5 take the Titans 2 take the Bills. (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/features/writers/expert/picks/against-the-spread/5) CBS Straight Up: 5 take the Titans 2 take the Bills. (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/features/writers/expert/picks/straight-up/5) ESPN: 10 and the computer take the Bills and 3 take the Titans. (http://espn.go.com/nfl/picks) Microsoft Cortana (Went 8-7 in week 4): Titans 51% chance to win. (http://www.cortanapredictions.com/) FiveThirtyEight: (Went 10-5 in week 4): Bills 65% chance to win. (http://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/2015-nfl-predictions/) Amos: (Went 9-6 in week 4) Bills 53% chance to win. (http://trevorbischoff.com/nfl-2015-week-5-predictions/) FYI: FiveThirtyEight predicts a 9-7 record for the Bills this season with a 38% (down from 59%) chance of making the playoffs and a 1% (down from 4%) chance of winning it all. Amos predicts a 10-6 record for the Bills this season. SportsClubStats (http://www.sportsclubstats.com/NFL/AFC/AFCEast/Buffalo.html) predicts a record of 8-8 and a chance of making the playoffs at 36.9% (Unless I'm not interpreting the "What If" chart correctly regarding wins/losses. Maybe someone who understands that better can confirm or enlighten me please?)
  14. Ummmm .. hmmmmmm .... He put it onto the currency as a convenient way to funnel it into the little sipping opening in the lid of his coffee. Yeah that's it
  15. Coming from you that is rich. Thanks, you can never have too many laughs
  16. The Bills don't have any cheerleaders. The lost 2 home games. The correlation is undeniable.
  17. Weren't many here saying this last week ...
  18. You are too kind sir. They should go F themselves.
  19. Logical in general. But if he had to go back to the tape to discuss the penalty situation yesterday he should retire immediately.
  20. Great read, thanks! They really didn't seem to prove anything with the study one way or the other though. The fact that it was not accepted for publication speaks volumes. This quote from a reviewer sums it up for me: He also called the study's detected advantage for a team trailing in a playoff series "statistically insignificant." But the study was done by economics guys? I'd like to see Nate Silver take a crack at it
  21. True for sure. My sister used to live in jersey and her family were all Yankee fans. It was cheaper for them to drive to Rochester, take the ferry (it existed then) to Toronto, and stay overnight to see a Yankee game there than to get 4 tickets at Yankee stadium.
  22. I added some more content to my post as you apparently were entering yours. As I said, I'm sure it happens but on a individual referee basis.
  23. You mean Tim Donaghy? The guy who went to prison for betting on games that he worked over 2 seasons? The guy who implied that the NBA applied "subtle" pressure to extend some high profile series ... in his book that he wrote and based on that got $5K speaking engagements? That extremely credible source? I believe that there are some refs fixing games in every sport. Human nature sadly when there is gambling and money involved. But it is not league sanctioned in my opinion in any sport. It simply does not make sense when you consider risk versus reward.
