How much money have you spent on Bills in the last decade?
CodeMonkey replied to Spurna's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good lord people have averaged $5,000 a year or more for the past decade of suck. I don't know whether to commend you, salute you, or pity you. -
Rick Dennison to be Bills OC

WTF? The first rule when buying a business you know nothing about is don't do that. The second rule is, if you ignored rule number one then hire people who do understand the business. The Pegulas kept the same FO in place after the team hasn't seen the playoffs this century so far. Hire a czar or whatever, but you need someone who is knowledgeable running the show if it can't be you. They did not, and still have not, done this. Everyone should be grateful to the Pegulas for not only keeping the Bills and Sabres in Buffalo, but for all the other things they are trying to do to "make Buffalo great again" (please don't sue me Mr. Trump). But to claim a learning curve is responsible for their mistakes to date is simply overlooking the facts.

Ha! The Pegulas are in over their heads so much already that's the last thing they need. As much as I'd love to see a NBA game live once in awhile without driving 3 or more hours each way, even though they have FNC arena I suspect it is too small for an NBA team. Maybe someday when the Bills and Sabres win championships in the same season

For a lot of people, yes that is how they feel. They like going to the games for the event/atmosphere, tailgate with friends and all of that. For them it would be fantastic if the team did great, but it would be a very nice bonus, by no means a requirement of their support. 16-0 or 0-16, they will always support the Buffalo Bills and be grateful the team is there.

I'd take the 1/12th of Whaleys salary and party like a boss.

Dennis Thurman Interviewing for Washington's DC Job

When they interviewed Rob Ryan as well ... so ... no, they do not. -
Report: Greg Olson to Rams as QB coach
CodeMonkey replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's hard to know for sure. Anything national typically just repeats what the local reporters put out there. But I believe the interview being scheduled was reported before it was cancelled, and I can't think of a good reason for the local yokels to make that up. So ... -
Report: Greg Olson to Rams as QB coach

He passed on even taking the interview. Why is anyones guess, but he did pass on the Bills. That much is certain. -

Could they be trying for the ultimate tank and beat the Browns record next season? -
Maybe not all, but mostly. If you do not have a "franchise" QB, it is pretty clear that you start out in a significant hole and it is a very difficult uphill battle to have great success. A Tyrod Taylor type QB for example, might get you to the playoffs if you have a Shady McCoy and other help on the offense along with a very good defense. But as you progress in the playoffs the QB is going to need to consistently perform at a high level against good competition as well. If your goal is to make the playoffs then fine. But if your goal is a deep run or the superbowl, you need a very good QB in todays NFL.

Doesn't Whaley have to retain Taylor?
CodeMonkey replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Where are people getting the idea that Whaley is on "thin ice"? Have the Pegulas, who happen to be the ones that would need to fire him, made some kind of a public statement that I am unaware of? The Pegulas seem to have no problem taking their sweet time with the Sabres, and fired Regier only after it was crystal clear to them that he sucked ass as a GM. My expectation is they will fire Whaley only if it becomes crystal clear to them that he sucks ass as well. If that's next year, 3 years from now, or tomorrow I have no idea. The Bills are making money, I see nothing that tells me they won't be as patient with the Bills as they have been with the Sabres. It's been 17 years and counting for Bills fans, but only a couple of years for the Pegulas. -
Would we take Chip Kelly for OC?
CodeMonkey replied to WhitewalkerInPhilly's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is when a GM actually has to earn his money and work with the HC and the rest of the organization to find a hungry and talented position coach that can become the next golden boy OC. Time for the Bills FO to earn their keep! -
For me it's about what I do NOT want to hear. I want to hear nothing like: "pack your bags we are going to the playoffs" "we are going to build a bully" “Is this thing on? Because it’s getting ready to be on.” “I know we’ll lead the league in defense. That’s just the way it goes.” “I know it’s been 17 years since the Bills made the playoffs. Well get ready, man, we’re going. We are going.” Or any other of the Rex false bravado bull **** or anything like it. Don't talk about it, just !@#$ing make it happen.

Lynne may return as oc in buffalo under McDermott
CodeMonkey replied to HumbleAndHungry's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So long as there is a Rooney rule some teams will interview a person of color simply because they have too. The insulting thing is that there IS a Rooney rule in the first place that puts teams and candidates in that position. -
The two situations couldn't be more different. With Watkins you are talking about a WR in what was generally considered to be a WR rich draft. Not the Bills greatest draft moment, IMO. Compared to now where there are several teams in need of a QB, one of them being the team drafting first, in a QB poor draft. As an exercise, try and come up with an offer that the Bills could make to Cleveland for this kid if he ends up being the only highly regarded QB in the draft.

If you lock in the price for all 3 years and are certain that you will want them for all 3 years, that's probably what I would do. Fairly certain the price is not going to go down for the clubs.

Bills Hire Sean McDermott as New Head Coach
CodeMonkey replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
All 5 years guaranteed, or have the Pegulas learned from their Rex mistake? -
What will get you excited for a better upcoming season?
CodeMonkey replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can't even imagine what Whaley would need to give the Browns to make that happen. Lilly from AT&T is way hotter. The Pegulas giving me seasons in the owners box for the Bills and Ssbres would get me excited for next season. Short of that, meh.
