  1. Makes sense to go with something like Prime. Why give something away when there are fools ... err ... people willing to pay for it! Mo money, mo money ...
  2. Following the $$ is always a good move. But things like FB are a shotgun approach with anyone, anywhere following the team. It's like asking a thousand girls to sleep with you hoping one says yes. Assuming they owned the board, they had the data for every member. That's much more of a focused targeted list of potential customers, both new and upgrades. The money in this case I suspect was like you mentioned, the cost of running the board and maintaining it and maybe being in some way liable for what happened there. Much cheaper and easier to do it the way they are now.
  3. Seems like it might be fun at least once, particularly if you have kids to bring.
  4. As soon as the Juice's prior commitment is over.
  5. It wasn't a comment on the Leafs. It was a comment on the quality of the Sabres. They still suck, and are out the playoffs again. That game was just a recent example he might have seen. A glacial pace it seems.
  6. Yup, the legendary Buffalo Bills smokescreen
  7. You know I keep hearing this. But the Bills have been treading water for nearly the past 2 decades. Season ticket sales are very strong. I have to believe Pegula not only isn't losing money, but is making a pretty fair amount. A very large number of Bills fans only require them to be in Buffalo to support the team. How exactly will they drown? I would think for as long as they have been treading water, if they were going to drown it would have happened already.
  8. Yes, but what do the Bills do?
  9. They didn't tank, they just sucked. Still do as a matter of fact. Watch any of the Toronto game last night? Holy crap do they still suck.
  10. Only a valid question if you believe the Bills started EJ in order to lose the game to improve their draft position. I don't think that way. IMO it was done simply as a business decision based on TT's contract situation and the fact that he was slightly injured.
  11. I agree with this. Even with the mediocre on a good day product on the field the better part of the last 2 decades, a lot of people still bought seasons. Put a quality product on the field and those people will find a way to come up with the additional money, and the ones that cannot or will not will be replaced by others that will.
  12. The NFL has sucked about as much money as they can out of the American consumer. They have to expand beyond the US to continue to increase their yearly take. If that will work or crash and burn is up for discussion.
  13. A few short seasons ago many here thought the Bills won that offseason because Rex was on his way.
  14. I'm not saying it is going to happen, or even likely, but I do think it could. The Bills have 8 regular season games, a couple preseason, and (please god someday) a playoff game or two a year. Hardly make or break for the Buffalo economy as a whole. As someone said, Pegulas passion is hockey, specifically the Sabres. If push came to shove and he had to foot the bill for a new stadium or move the team I could see him selling the Bills and getting back to what he loves, the Sabres. Not one of the "all-time worst business decisions in the history of business decisions" at all. In fact, it would probably give him a few thousand less headaches a year and maybe make him a buck or two if the new owners really wanted the team.
  15. Makes me wonder if there will be a sports book in the shiny new stadium.
  16. Kirby probably already has
  17. Why do people think all NFL players need to be boy scouts? Their job is to run around a field and hit people as hard as they can. The only reason to be concerned about off field behavior is if there is a high risk of it affecting on field performance (as in suspension or incarceration) or selling tickets.
  18. I'm surprised they haven't done the virtual ads on the field similar to what hockey has behind the goals on the glass.
  19. I need to see how they look in preseason. If the team is more disciplined than the last 2 years and stop killing themselves with penalties then I see 8-8. If they are still making boneheaded mistakes then 5 or 6 wins. HC and staff in their first years combined with middle of the road talent for the most part, and a much harder schedule is going to make it tough. I certainly do not see this team contending for a wild card without divine intervention. If I see a disciplined team that gets 8 wins I will be very encouraged.
  20. No one looking objectively would blame Ryan for taking that sweetheart deal the Bills offered him. But some have to place the blame on someone when the team sucks. And it is generally easier for them to blame the head coach that is gone than to blame the current ownership and/or front office for not only hiring a coach like Ryan, but for giving him that embarrassing contract to boot.
  21. Hmmm. I'm not so sure. Rex loves him some Rex on TV. He should be able to trash talk about teams and players, I can't see ESPN forbidding that. But he wouldn't be allowed to talk **** about the NFL of course, but I don't think has any particular axe to grind at that level. Bottom line, I think he will love the attention and people asking his opinion on camera, and I think with his personality he will be good at it. I expect he will be on TV somewhere for years to come.
  22. Interesting. I often see posts pissing and moaning when players aren't perceived as loyal to the team. And here I see several "Cut Wood" posts. Not sure you could find a more loyal or stand-up Bill.
  23. Yeah verified on the local news tonight. Kinda sucks though, now every other team knows the Bills offer.
