And the same players again in 1999 with a 8-8 result. -
So How Many BCS Championships Did Georgia Tech Win?

Depends upon your point of view I suppose. But Aikman was on the team both years, as was Emmitt Smith. The Cowboys certainly declined while Gailey was there as well as after he was fired. After Aikman went out in 2000 they were in a world of hurt to be sure. Tough to replace a guy like that. I would say that is when the rapid decline (more like instant decline) hit. -
5th round 140th overall. I've never seen such excitement over a 5th rounder project that may or may not work out!

1997: Switzer is the HC. Bickering between him and Aikman and others. They are 6-5 when they get bit by the injury and bickering bugs and lose the last 5. But still on paper have a pretty good team. 1998: In steps Chan the man. Inherits a pretty strong team. Goes 10-6 which is mildly under-achieving with that team but respectable compared to the previous season. Heavily favored in the first round of the playoffs and loses (and admits it was due to his coaching). 1999: Still Chan the man at the helm. Team takes a turn for the worse. Goes 8-8 and somehow manages to sneak into the playoffs (weak division). Loses in the first game again. 2000+ The slide continues post Chan. Is that Chans fault? Doubtful. Did he have a part in it? Probably. I have friends who are big time GT fans. Their perception was that Chan was fired, and his contract paid off, to prevent a further downslide by that team (i.e. stop the bleeding). Looks like possibly the same situation by Jones in Dallas. Personally from what I have read I don't think he is a bad coach. But I don't think he is some kind of gem that everyone has misjudged for his entire career either. Give him a chance and see what he can do in the B-Lo. Nix and Gailey both being old school certainly can't hurt. -
O.J., Chuck Knox, Jim Kelly, ???

So you think we need to draft someone from Mexico or South America?? -

Lets assume we catch a few breaks this season...

The starters basically play 18 games worth now if you count the worthless preseason reps. They are professionals, they shouldn't have to work these things out "live". Scrimmages during camp should be more than sufficient. The starters play limited amounts in preseason anyway. Certainly not much intrinsic value there. Again, this is why they practice and have camps in the first place. If this is an issue, have camp longer if they feel the need. They are not relatively useless, they are completely useless. Stupid "reason" to not make a change where everyone wins. That is probably the most insightful statement of your post.

No preseason games. Coaches if they are worth a **** can tell who should be on the team and who should not. 18 game seasons with 2 (or even 3) byes per team. Players get fewer overall games which they want. Owners can get money from 18 regular season games which would make them happy. And the fans get more games that count spread out over a longer time which they like. They could start the season when preseason would normally begin.

Anyone get a good seat upgrade this off season?
CodeMonkey replied to Lv-Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You could upgrade your TV with that money and have a nice view. Beer is cheaper and no lines for the bathroom either -
Who is CJ Spillers Agent?
CodeMonkey replied to Canadian Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He won't be in all the time (at least I would hope not) and he needs something to work with. He can't do it alone. It will come, just not this year. -
Why the Bills can make the playoffs this year

Well said. -
Who is CJ Spillers Agent?
CodeMonkey replied to Canadian Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't expect Spiller to make a big impact this season anyway. Lets face it, he was drafted for 3 years from now when they have a decent QB (that they will draft next year), something that resembles an O-Line, and a WR for said QB to throw the ball too when Spiller isn't carrying it. -

You are so far out in the weeds it is funny. Splitting with the cheaters and the Jets and sweeping the fish But God bless ya. This is the time of year when even Bills fans can drink the koolaid because we are undefeated!!!! -

$40 CJ Spiller jerseys
CodeMonkey replied to Glass To The Arson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
DHGate is a place where lots of different Chinese companies sell their stuff. DHGate themselves sell nothing (it is a gate-way). So you probably got the jerseys from 2 different companies. The thing to do is to find a company that you know does good stuff (like the one you got the TO from) and keep doing business with them. -
Optimism means never having to say we suck ... until after the game.

You didn't define a timeframe. But if people are looking at this season it's not too hard to figure. We are not going to have any passing game to speak of. So our offense will consist mainly of runs/screens/dump-offs. CJ has talent to be sure, but he seems to be a back that when given a seam, can scat through and make yardage. He does not seem to be a run it up the gut or break tackles kind of a guy (lacks size, not heart). With teams being able to key on the short game and our O-line, seams could be hard to come by. Will he be a bust 3 or 4 years from now when we are post-rebuild (please GOD)? Doubtful unless he gets too damaged in the next couple seasons.

Details of statement against Big Ben are released.
CodeMonkey replied to Steely Dan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not sure what the compelling history is. If I am not mistaken the other charge (Vegas?) was shown to be a gold digger so certainly you can't be going by that. The subject should hit close to home for all people, not just guys. If someones reputation can be ruined just by a allegation of rape (or anything else) without any evidence (not to mention potentially arrested and convicted) it should worry everyone. I'm not saying PigBen is innocent any more than I am saying he is guilty because I simply do not know (and either do you). But based on the facts I would say he at the very least showed exceptionally poor judgment having sex with her. Being who he is I have to believe there were any number of sober(ish) girls there willing to do him. -
But the real question is .... Duffs or Anchor

Plenty of trade options available for agressive GM
CodeMonkey replied to Chuckknox's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What don't people understand about rebuilding, and particularly rebuilding through the draft? We will have glaring holes this season, deal with it. If you go in thinking we are going to be in the 10-6 neighborhood and sniffing playoffs this season you need to step away from the crack pipe or you are going to be sorely disappointed. -
We should be able to draft a decent one next year, relax this is a long term rebuild. Don't get too excited by all the "we are going to be good this year" posts. We won't. But if they stay the course we should be respectable in 3 seasons.

Are we all sure it will be Edwards?
CodeMonkey replied to PS 56's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The good thing is Gailey should have an open mind and fairly evaluate all 4 of them and pick who he thinks is the best. The better thing is that 3 seasons from now, whoever is the starter now won't be then. -
Only QB worth a **** was Bradford in my opinion. Waiting for a strong QB class next draft makes sense to me. This is not a short term rebuild remember.
