  1. Interesting point. A different take on my #1 scenario above. Not a fiasco at all, but a victory for real football fans. Not sure I agree with him completely, but a interesting point of view.
  2. I just got around to thinking about this a little. It does sound like the fairest thing to do. But can you imagine a city like Buffalo hosting a superbowl in January? The superbowl is more of an event than a football game anymore. Attended by people of means who can afford to go party for a week and pay stupid prices for tickets (if they even bother going to the game). I can see two nightmare scenarios: 1) The people with means google Buffalo in January and decide to take a pass. No one shows up to party, the Ralph is filled with Bills fans watching 2 other teams play in a white-out and not giving a **** about either team. The whole event never gets off the ground and Buffalo is a laughing stock. 2) The people do show up, but need to stay in hotels as far away as Syracuse or Toronto because there aren't nearly enough 4 or 5 star rooms in Buffalo. And they spend all week bitching to each other and the media about how Buffalo is not capable of hosting this event, how there is no nightlife, the weather blows, etc. etc. and Buffalo again is a laughing stock. No matter how much you love the B-Lo, can anyone honestly say Buffalo is capable of hosting something like the superbowl?
  3. Everyone does
  4. A little early for Irish Car Bombs isn't it?
  5. No ... both!!!
  6. It is a entirely different game now than it was in the 50's (for better or for worse), but I certainly respect your opinion about playing in the elements. The affordable issue is a whole other discussion
  7. I'll watch whatever I want to watch, in the stands or on my couch. Whatever I see fit. Enjoy the game!
  8. Whatever. You just can't talk to some people. 1) I'm not watching a superbowl in Buffalo. 2) I haven't paid $500 or more to see said game in Buffalo. 3) If I paid superbowl prices to see a Jan game in Buffalo and it was pissing down rain or snow and blowing like hell, yeah I'd hate it. 4) I don't generally go to late season games in Buffalo because of weather (and over drunk !@#$s). Your better team comment is true ... to a point. But when it comes down to two otherwise good teams trading 3 and outs and whatever team fumbles the least wins, yeah it's invalid at that point to me. YMMV.
  9. The playing field can only be leveled so much. Far superior teams should still win. One would hope that the teams playing a superbowl would be better matched than the Bills and the cheaters were 2 years ago. They can't postpone obviously. My suggestion, if I were the God of the NFL, would be to require a dome to host a superbowl among the other requirements like hotel rooms etc. Are you suggesting that either watching a superbowl in pouring down rain would be as enjoyable to watch from a competition perspective or would show which is the better team? How about the in person fan experience? Pay all that money to sit in a monsoon and watch two good teams fumble to each other all day. Not sure about you but man that would really piss me off.
  10. Games with horrible weather evens the playing field giving the worse team a much better chance to win. Wasn't talking about NYC here, but small cities like Buffalo.
  11. There are other rules that come into play as well regarding number of hotel rooms etc. There is a lot more to hosting a superbowl than just the stadium itself.
  12. Not much of a choice there. Unless they wanted to change the playoffs to some kind of a neutral field format which would be a disaster or force all stadiums to be domes. The superbowl site is already neutral, and I would prefer to see the better team win than see a 6-3 blizzard bowl where the luckier team wins for example.
  13. That really wouldn't make much sense. However I can see people like Jones asking for a bigger slice of that pie than the small market teams.
  14. In my opinion it is stupid to have a superbowl decided by weather.
  15. Probably because the merchandise companies will court teams like the Cowboys much more than the Bills. For example, do you think that Brandon will be able to strike the same deal with Reebok that Jones will be able to get for the Cowboys? Now not only do the big market teams get to sell more stuff, they will get that stuff at a lower cost as well. Plus I suspect it opens the door to no profit sharing which is what Jones has been pushing for as well. I can think of no good that can come from this for small market teams.
  16. Figure it's probably bad news for the Chinese knock-off makers. Today they have to copy 1 base RBK for style, tags, and packaging, then customize per team/player. Now they may have to make base styles, tags, and packaging for RBK/Nike etc. So my $200 item from the Bills store may now cost me $25 instead of $20
  17. Probably want you to use it driving to Toronto twice this (pre)season
  18. To be honest, the Bills Doctors ability to recognize a serious injury to Everett and take the appropriate and quick action certainly helped Everett to recover as well as he has. But this has little to do with certifying a different player as a good health risk or not. Neck injuries are a tricky thing. And the fact that the Ravens withdrew their extension offer because Edwards refused another surgery, and Denver and Seattle both failed him on a physical for the same problem should send up HUGE red flags. Three teams Doctors say he should not play the way he is, the Bills Doctor(s) say he can. Sounds like a pretty big gamble to me both on the part of the Bills, and on the part of Edwards who is risking his (quality of) life.
  19. Geez dude, you are assuming already that this past draft is a bust? I understand your doubt based on this teams past performance, but I think we at least need to give this "new" regime a chance before declaring them losers
  20. Not much of a response in my opinion. I read a lot of "potential", "maybe", "just might" and "no sweat" to go along with reading history with red and blue colored glasses (Gailey being successful everywhere he has been ... I suppose it depends on your definition of successful but successful guys generally don't get canned with the frequency he has). That's a lot of eggs in the hopeful basket (and I hope all of your wishes come true), but doesn't refute anything in the article in my opinion.
  21. The silver lining to this being they should have their choice of stud QB's in the next draft.
  22. If it were possible to agree with this more than 100% I would! Which is why this past draft was a little puzzling to me. But, I don't know the master plan. Only Buddy, Chan, and a few others do. So time will tell if they know what they are doing or have their heads up their collective asses.
  23. If you are going to drink it, now is the time.
  24. Well you can probably point cases of that out on all teams if you look. How about a 1st and a 4th for Rob Johnson, then paying him $25 million, five-year deal that includes a franchise-record (at the time anyway) $8.5 million signing bonus for example. Then by 2006 he is on the Giants practice squad. I agree that Snyder tends to make that same mistake over and over more than most. But it happens to everyone.
  25. Skins Playoff appearances: 1936, 1937, 1940, 1942, 1943, 1945, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974, 1976, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1986, 1987, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1999, 2005, 2007 If they suck, what is your opinion of the Bills when they actually play football?
