Start of Camp season predictions
CodeMonkey replied to DarthICE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have a schedule on my office wall that I just went through and came up with 3 wins. I usually then add 1 for a game we shouldn't win but do. So that puts me at 4-12. -
In Case you were wondering why we drafted Spiller 9th
CodeMonkey replied to Skoobydum's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No running back can make an offensive line play better. At the absolute most, he can make the flaws of the o-line less important. And hopefully make the opponents d-line flaws more apparent. Despite what Buddy is hoping for, no running back can make plays entirely on his own too often at this level. Particularly a rookie. -
Chris Brown's day 1 practice notes

If someone in the media reports something good about the Bills, then (s)he is fair, unbiased. and knowledgeable. If not then they are clueless Buffalo bashers. -
Better, worse, or the same?

Really? I don't even know who is going to be our starting d-line. -

I don't think Nix liked much in this draft past the first 10-15 players. I also would rather take what I figured was a player that almost certainly would be a future asset than take a couple depth players later on. -
Take a moment to think about the start of camp

Corrected and very well put I think of that every time I read a post from a unreasonably optimistic fan. -

Basically Nix did not like any of the QBs or LTs that were left when their pick came around. So he had 2 choices: 1) Pick one anyway even though you don't like them just to appease the media and fans. 2) Take the best available player that is left. Buddy chose number 2. Do I like that we ended up with a running back ... no. Do I understand it ... yes. We have sucked ass for 10 years and counting, this is not a 1 draft rebuild. I suspect they will be looking for help for our most glaring need positions again next draft and hopefully things will go better. At the very least next years QB class shows a lot more depth and promise. -

You lost me after this. -
The kids day game is not bad at all. My youngest were 7 when we started going. They loved it and for the most part the hard core !@#$ drunks respect that a lot of kids will be there and either don't go or keep themselves under control.

Thanks. The wife is taking the kids one day and I am going to try and sneak out and join them. -
Well that's a good thing. Apparently they don't strictly enforce that all the time or this sales dude was uninformed.
-
Yeah but the temporary cold callers they have now will be long gone by then. Besides, looking at the start of the schedule it may be a while before we see two wins.

My wife bought tickets to the kids day preseason game a short while ago. So she gets a call during dinner last night (rude to make sales calls at that time I think) from the Bills ticket office trying to get her to buy seasons. She told the guy she couldn't because we have young kids and did not want to expose them to all of the binge drinking alcoholics at the games. The sales guy mentioned the family section and the rest of the conversation went like this: Wife: So since it is a family section no alcohol is allowed? Sales Dude: Yes, that's what makes it family friendly. Wife: And there is security there to make sure no one brings beer into that section? Sales Dude: Ummm .... no. Wife: OK ... but then there is security there to make sure that the people that have been getting hammered in the parking lots all day and are obviously drunk don't go into that section right? Sales Dude: Ummm ... no. Wife: So then besides the name, what makes this a family section? Sales Dude: We encourage families to buy tickets there. Wife: Well thank you for the call and if you ever get a real family section let me know. The sales people can't be having good luck making their quotas this year. Buddy didn't give them anything to work with like Brandon did last year with TO.

CBS Sports: CJ to Score 10 offensive touchdowns
CodeMonkey replied to Skoobydum's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sounds like Buddy knows his offensive line pretty well. -
I have very little doubt he will be an asset to the bungles. They have the other tools needed to utilize him. We did (and do) not yet.
-
All good points. But a deep threat is not a threat without the offensive line and QB that can get the ball deep. I don't see just the addition of Gailey and Co. changing that, at least not this season.
-
I didn't find much exciting about him being on the Bills last season past the marketing push to sell more seasons. I found it painful watching him struggle with our embarrassing offense until it broke his spirit and he just gave up. I'm happy to just have Lee Evans and a few new guys on the outside, at least until we have an offense in place that can take advantage of wide outs.
-
I can't imagine there was any way he would have resigned with the Bills even if the Bills offered. Our offense is the same as last season, except for what promises to be better coaching. But even with better coaching and play calling, we still don't have the ability to get the ball consistently to the wide outs. And he knows that all too well. I suspect TO is very happy to sign with a team not only with a strong offense and QB, but that also has a good chance to go deep into the playoffs. I wish him well, except for Nov 21st of course.

T.O. signs with Bengals

2 + 2 in possible incentives. And we paid him what, 6.5 last year. Cinci is getting a pretty good deal and it should be a much better environment for TO. Seems like a good fit for both sides. -
Jets interested in signing T.O.
CodeMonkey replied to smuvtalker's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The last half of the season TO clearly had given up on the Bills. The offense could not get the ball to him (or anyone more than 5 yards downfield) and on the rare occasions they did, he dropped it half the time. But TO being TO, everyone knew that the ineptitude of the offense, particularly passing, was going to get on his nerves. You knew it, I knew it, and I imagine even Brandon knew it. No one in their right mind thought the Bills could utilize any #1 receiver last year, and TO was brought in to sell tickets. That ploy would not work again this season, the pass offense has not changed one bit (except to get worse by losing Reed) so there was no reason to pay TO any money. Bottom line, the Bills knew what was going to happen with TO. TO also knew. The Bills got what they wanted (record season ticket sales). TO got paid, even though being on the Bills wasted a year of his career. And as usual, the fans got screwed. Plenty of fault to go around. -

That's right, I forgot that Sanchez sucks too! Shouldn't even play those 2 games this season. Just mark them in the W column for the Bills. -

I guess we will have no problems beating the Jets this season then. Particularly if TO ends up there. Great news. -

62.5 yards per game average and a TD every other game (for 8). Maybe not with the Jets as I expect them to run a LOT this season and they have other receivers. Cinci should be a possibility for the yardage I would think. As to the TDs, that one is tough even at Cinci.
