A New Season.....A Feeling of Optimism
CodeMonkey replied to Speedy G's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think that people who post 10 wins and making the playoffs this season are unrealistic. I guess that's why they play the games and don't leave it up to forum votes -
Spiller will sign when both he and the Bills come to mutually agreeable terms. It would be stupid for Spiller to sign before then just as it would be stupid for the Bills to sign just to get him into camp. Today, tomorrow or 3 weeks from now. It will happen when it happens. That's really all there is to it. Nothing more to see here, move along.

I agree with you. Both sides are trying to do the best for themselves. What a lot of people don't remember (or choose to forget) is that this is first and foremost a business to Spiller and the Bills. To the fans it is what they are passionate about. The Bills want to pay as little as possible, while Spiller wants to maximize his earnings ... particularly guaranteed earnings. When your business is running around while other strong fast violent guys try to rip your head off or break you in half, I'd be pushing for guaranteed money as well!

Help Me Out with Spiller News . . .
CodeMonkey replied to Ennjay's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Funny how a lot of people automatically take the teams side in cases like this. Spiller has the rest of his life to consider. Maybe 13 million is not a lot of money to you, but it is to most people including me. I can guarantee that Smithers is busy trying to save Ralphs wrinkled old ass some coin. Why shouldn't Spiller do the same for himself? -
TG has confidence in the Bills....

Is there some reason he should change his "tone" to appease Bills fans? -
Sunday Practice, O-line, D-line drills
CodeMonkey replied to Chuckknox's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If Chan goes with a run-centric offense, which I'm thinking more and more that he might, short patterns might be all the QB's will be asked to execute. -

Whatifsports computer predictions for 2010 season
CodeMonkey replied to Damian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Except for one thing. This is supposedly a simulation based strictly on 2009 stats (so far anyway). So if we did not draft Spiller, and it was still the Smithers/Jauron show, this still would have been the prediction. Plus I suspect this "simulation engine" of theirs does not factor in coaching at all. And the coaching change is the main reason some people think the Bills are "moving in the right direction". If Jauron was still the coach would you still be billieving this "prediction"? Smells like a big pile of dog**** to me. -
Yeah, taxpayers should spend millions of dollars on a waterfront stadium to make Buffalo "look better" on TV the 8 (excuse me, 7) times a year a football game is televised. Don't spend that energy or money on trying to bring Buffalo into the 20th century by getting out of the manufacturing rut that put the city in it's current condition in the first place. Yeah a waterfront stadium will fix everything wrong with Buffalo.

#1 Sam Bradford- $50M Guaranteed
CodeMonkey replied to Skoobydum's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
At some point the NFL is going to implode under the weight of it's own greed and ridiculous salaries. When attendance drops off because the cheapest ticket is $100+ and the TV contracts shrink accordingly, then they will do something about it (if it isn't too late). Until then, they will just sit back and count the cash of the people willing to shell it out. I suspect right now they believe that American Football is such a great game that people (well, Americans anyway) will pay whatever it takes. And why not, it has held true so far. -

Calculating just regular season games, that's a paltry $812,500.00 per game. NFL salaries are just plain ridiculous. But good for him, set for life now. -
No. You didn't curse. maybe something like you !@#$ing suck perhaps

Maybe we play the Jets JV team week 17 like we did the colts last season. No. We play them Nov 28th, week 12. -

Just read this closer and that's only 7/8 wins. Unless you go: I was borderline with the Bears myself, and would have gone with us winning that game if it were at the Ralph. Assuming my correction is what you meant, you have us crushing the AFC east. Last to first because of a coaching change. That would be an amazing turnaround to be sure. -
In Case you were wondering why we drafted Spiller 9th
CodeMonkey replied to Skoobydum's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not so sure the good ole boys agree. Being old school they may well think that a run-centric offense can be successful today. That could certainly explain their eagerness to grab Spiller as well as the seeming lack of concern over the lack of a passing game. I've never met Buddy or Chan and certainly have no window into their thoughts. Just making an observation. -

Player wise essentially the same team as last year except that we lost 2 starting receivers and picked up a (hopefully very) good running back. The defense is switching systems (a good thing) but we do not, in my opinion, have the personnel right now to make that work well. It's not that we are "so bad" or even worse than last year, particularly in the coaching department. Even with the receiver losses, I think we are a better team than last year. But last years schedule looks like a powder puff compared to this years and I do not see us getting anywhere near 10 wins. I would be overjoyed with 8-8. But I would be very happy for you or cookiemonster to be correct instead of me! -
I have to believe both sides want him in camp ASAP so I hope both sides are working hard to make that happen.

Start of Camp season predictions
CodeMonkey replied to DarthICE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hmmm so your definition of being a Bills fan is believing we will beat Miami at least once. Anyway, yes I do believe we will lose to Miami both times this season. I know that some think that Gailey will have some surprise package waiting for the fish opening day that will give us that win. As much I would love to see that, I don't realistically see that happening this year. What makes you think we will beat the fish this season? Also, you and I disagreeing by 1 win makes my estimate "borderline ridiculous"? -

Then I guess it is a good thing that I do not give a **** what you believe. But for the sake of argument, what games do think we will will other than the chiefs, lions, and browns? -
More great news on Eric Woods.

He impressed me with his attitude at the open practice at the Ralph. Even though he was not fully practicing then, he was the first one out of the tunnel and took the time to sign lots of things for the kids that were there. If attitude counts for anything he will be a special player.
