Spend how much money on the ticket to see a couple blacked out games? Thanks for the info but I'll stream to my laptop and HDMI out to the TV for free.

I would certainly hope that a person of Mr. Wilsons intelligence and advanced years already has a plan for after he passes. A 92 year old just starting to think about that now makes no sense to me. As to the 2 rationalizations in the last paragraph about ex-Bills in the HOF and the Toronto-Buffalo corridor, that all sounds nice. But it is my belief that the other team owners, who I believe have a say as to any sale of the Bills, will do whatever they feel will make them the most money. Bills in the HOF or geographical considerations be damned. Mr. Wawrow obviously has more insights into the Bills as an organization and Mr. Wilson as a person than I would ever hope to. But unless Mr. Wilsons new plan includes a way to make all of the owners more money, or includes a way to skirt the other owners having a say in the sale, I just don't see it happening. But I'd be happy to be wrong!

You also have made good points and express yourself well. And your main point is where we happen to disagree. The whole "image of the league" thing trumping the concept of a free market economy is what I have a problem with. I agree with your points 2 and 3 above and feel that's how it should work. If a particular owner/GM feels a felon (or any other player) is a good enough player to bring them on board, then they should have that right. If a fan or group of fans for that team objects, then try and "change the teams mind" in whatever way they choose. Including like you mentioned the one that carries the most weight, in their wallets. Most fans have short memories. The people of Philly for example may detest what Vick did as well as the man himself. But if he took them to the superbowl most would forgive and forget. The same is true for Buffalo and all other sports towns. Not all fans mind you, but most. At the end of the day It's all about winning.

Vikes @ Jets Discussion Thread
CodeMonkey replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I still say you have to ask Palin to use that word so that it gets into the dictionary. -
Seems only fair. The Bills have been given strong doses of reality the last 5 weeks as well.

Well, they haven't banned him yet so ...

The stadium parking lots open at 8 (or is it 9 now?) and close 2 hours after the game ends. The red pinto (lot 1) "ketchup ceremony" is usually at 11:15 I believe. Hopefully you are going to the Lions game. The Steelers game will be a sea of black and gold and not as much fun for a Bills fan.

What I found interesting so far is this: So basically put a fork in this season. Sending the GM to scout QBs instead of your scouts is interesting though. Drafting the next QB could be Nix's defining moment as a Bills GM. I suspect he wanted to do the leg work on this one himself rather than trust any of his scouts.

I understand completely what you are saying. But what is it about football that makes you think it should be put up on a pedestal? Is it the fact that they make a buttload of money? Is it the fact that you find what Vick in particular did repugnant? You are correct in that no NFL owner would have to hire him, any more than they have to hire an old out of shape person like me. But if one did (and one did, actually) why should King Roger not allow it? What is it about the NFL that you think that as an organization they should ban a person from playing even if a team wants him, because he committed a crime in his past? It is a form of entertainment that people enjoy watching. It has no more inherent value than that and it should be treated a such. Convicted felons are allowed to make movies, sell audio CDs, etc. etc. Why not play a sport, even a sacred one like American Football? In fact I believe it is you who is conflating two very separate concepts. I never said the NFL should be forced to hire Vick or anyone else. I just make the case that if a team did wish to hire him after knowing of his criminal past, they should be able to. Simple as that. [Hmmm. How did we manage to hijack a thread titled "I apologize again" into another should Vick be allowed to play? ]

Name One good player move Nix / Gailey have made?
CodeMonkey replied to BuffaloinLA's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Pathetic perhaps, but in his heart he was trying to do something positive. I know I'm reaching but it's the best I could come up with! Hehehe .... -

Resigning Kelsey ... wait wait, before you tar and feather me let me explain. I think Kelsey is/was a marginally acceptable DE and a simply horrible LB. But, Nix is trying to sign and keep what he considers to be his core players and then build a team around them via the draft. Given the fact that he really doesn't have many (any?) good players to consider his core, I can at least say he is trying to so something positive. -
My 11 year old still holds out hope for this But you have to forgive him, his entire life has been the decade of suck.

I find this attitude puzzling. Not from the dog lover perspective, but from a criminal justice one. In the United States, if you are convicted of a crime and serve out your punishment you are supposed to be given the same rights as any other citizens (special cases like pedophiles aside). You certainly are free to pursue employment. Why do you put playing football (or any sport) somehow above this principle?

Let's be fair, he did give away a old special teams trick yesterday where a kicker will intentionally make the ball fall off the tee after a re-kick to give the players a chance to catch their breath Yeah he sucks, but think about it. How many people watch Bills games any more? He has to be doing that job almost for free. Why should a network pay more for someone to announce to such a small audience?

Was a little disappointed with CJ yesterday
CodeMonkey replied to zow2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dude, he is a little (and I do mean little) scatback. He is not a between-the-tackles kind of guy. There is no way he is big enough to run through anyone, he has to dance around them. -
For those who didnt see the game.

Hey the game started great and they were in it at halftime! The 2nd half not so much. -
Yes I have, but not at the professional level. I have no doubt that GMs etc. make those kind of statements. Whether they mean it or just using it as a convenient excuse is a matter of conjecture. But in any event, I do find it both a ridiculous and humorous concept particularly when talking about adults (your Oilers reference might make sense because some in the AHL are kids). You seem to believe everything you read or hear, at least if it comes from a sports GM. And I am clueless.

Fans with bags on their heads at the Ralph
CodeMonkey replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't know about Brandon anyway. His marketing resume could read "hey, the team sucked complete ass and was a league laughing stock for 10 years and I still managed to set a all time season ticket sales record". I'd hire him as a marketing guy. Modrak, yeah he's !@#$ed. But he probably leached enough off of Mr. Wilson to retire comfortably. -
Brady Freaking Quinn now huh. The current Bills regime may be viewed as being slow to make moves (like any slower and they would be in reverse), but the GM wanna-bes on here are so quick to pull the trigger on something, anything they would make moves before thinking them through even a little, much less completely. But the what-ifs can be entertaining ... unlike the on field performance.

How many losses before we fire Gailey?
CodeMonkey replied to Chris in Syracuse's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If the next season is as bad as this one, and shows as much promise as this one, then they could (and should) be fired. Otherwise they will have at least 3 years (assuming they stay healthy). -
I always laugh when I read or hear this, no matter where it is. This perhaps is the biggest bunch of rationalization horseshit ever spewed in sports. Not about Peters in particular, just in general. Are the players 10 years old or are they professional athletes paid to do a job? One player is having contract issues with management. This is a business above all else. It happens, deal with it. If the player in the dispute slacks off and it negatively affects the team, then kick his ass. I know most players aren't exactly rocket scientists, but I have to believe even they laugh when they read things like "bad locker room presence" and "distraction".

Maybe he wants to be traded or released next. -
Watching the Jags Bills on the internet
CodeMonkey replied to Livinginthepast's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Based on that "performance" I'm glad I got my streaming solution to my TV figured out. I anticipate backouts almost the rest of the season. I ended up with atdhe.net because it would go out to full screen (albeit a standard definition full screen) to my laptop with the HDMI connection to the TV (audio and video). It ended up working pretty well. -
Roger, !@#$ you and the horse you rode to the Ralph on.
