  1. The article says "of any home market". I'm not sure what the definition of the Bills home market is, but I think it is just Buffalo. I remember when I asked the Rochester TV station if a game would be broadcast they said they could not because Rochester was not considered the home market.
  2. What I find more interesting than the rankings are the percentages. According to this, only 64% of adults in Buffalo watched even 1 game last season (where adult fans said they had watched a game on TV, listened to a game on the radio or attended at least one game during the past year). In a small market like Buffalo I would have expected that number to be higher, even with the decade+ of suck in progress. The Jags with their hideous attendance numbers got 56% for Petes sake.
  3. Let me see if I understand you. Nike/Reebok pays a factory in China for jerseys for I'm guessing about $10 each. They then mark it up quite a bit, adding no value mind you, just turning it around and selling them to the NFL. The NFL also marks it up quite a bit, also adding no value except the ability to buy it in a local store, then sells them to the public. So my giving China an extra $10 of my money directly, not giving 2 American companies $190 for doing next to nothing, and not paying the taxes on the "donations" that I make to the 2 American companies that do next to nothing is killing social security? Is that what you think? Do you also condemn Nike/Reebok and the NFL for having the jerseys made in China? Seems like they are doing what I am doing, namely getting jerseys of the desired quality for the lowest price possible. If it is OK for them, why is it not OK for me?
  4. TBD is not facilitating anything. This is just an open discussion about why people purchase legit jerseys from the NFL outlets or the knock-offs from other outlets and discussions of relative quality of some of the knock-offs. You are correct in that these jerseys are illegal, all knock-offs are by definition. But I contend that no "friendly working relationship" is in jeopardy from simple forum discussions. Now if TBD created a forum dedicated to people buying and selling knock-offs from each other that would be another matter altogether. I also contend that the NFL is losing little money due to knock-offs, certainly nowhere near tens of millions of dollars a year. Everyone that I know who purchase knock-off jerseys do so because they feel the NFL charges far too much money for theirs, and they would not buy one from the NFL under any circumstances. If they could not get a decent knock-off they would simply not get one at all. So the NFL is not making money from them, but they are not losing money either.
  5. You were on track with the bolded part, then went off in the weeds. Companies (NFL in this case) marking things up several thousand percent out of pure unadulterated greed is one of the reasons many US companies cannot compete in a global economy.
  6. That's a bold statement about a 224 overall pick entering his 2nd real season. Anyway. my 4 ... 1) Spiller. I pray to my personal God that Gailey gets the ball into this kids hands somehow. And I just don't see him being effective taking handoffs. Maybe short routes that get him into the open field is the trick. 2) Johnson. Will be interesting to see if he can have as good a season as the last one. One thing is for certain, Fitz likes him and will try to get him the ball. 3) Roscoe. I can't help it, I like him and I think Gailey does too. 4) Evans. Hopefully he can contribute something.
  7. Or get one from China, pay $20 and have it look [nearly] perfect and if it changes next season who freaking cares, spend another $20.
  8. VCR eh .... showing your age there my friend
  9. The madness ends. http://www.wben.com/Sabres-Out-of-Richards-Sweepstakes/10258127
  10. I'm not sure either, but this site seems pretty up to date. They had Leino on there in less than 15 minutes of being signed. http://www.thehockeygm.com/buf.html
  11. After Leino there is only 1.35 mil left to the cap and they only have 1 goalie and 5 signed defenseman. Madness is right and I love it too
  12. Kings are gunna get him. I don't think all the contract cap-hit games in the world would get Richards in Buffalo and have any hope of staying under the cap
  13. Drury has a bum knee. That's the reason the Rangers bought out his contract. He is done. Now that is a prediction I can get behind!
  14. You are making a common mistake. To you football is a passion. To the NFL and the players it is a business first and foremost. All you need do is look at the obscene amounts of cash involved and the current lockout swordfight between players and owners to see that. Of course Mr. Wilson would sell competitive advantage for cash. It is not gross, it is good profit maximizing business decision. And in his defense, I am pretty confident that Mr. Wilson thought the atmosphere in Toronto would be a strong Bills backing crowd when he first brokered the deal so he wouldn't be giving up as much of the homefield advantage as he did.
  15. I don't think I know anyone who believes this. Hopes for it yes, but believes it no.
  16. Interesting ... With all the current budget problems I'm surprised this has remained untapped.
  17. Well technically smokers are committing suicide. Just a prolonged one. The shower comment isn't a statement that smokers are bad people. But you might be surprised at how much it does stink and how easily it makes clothing etc. stink. If I am in someones house and there are people smoking in the room, my kids will ask why I stink when I get home. It is a disgusting habit and I am 100% for having smoking being banned indoors at public places. The removal of a smoking area at the Ralph seems a bit silly to me. But I guess the Bills are following King Rogers edict that NFL games will be family friendly someday. But to remove a smoking area but let drunk people come into the stadium and continue to buy alcohol until after halftime makes no sense to me if family friendly is the goal (no need to rehash that the NFL makes money from alcohol sales ).
  18. How does overpaying for a clothing item equate to getting a life?
  19. Probably someone will be interested if the price and contract is right. I suspect somewhere in the NFL before last season there was a thread started titled: "Shawne Merriman ...who will be interested now?"
  20. They have a rating system I believe similar to ebay. But the best way I think is to get a recommendation from someone you know so you can take a look at theirs and see what you think.
  21. DHGate is a collection of companies in China. So it is possible to hook up with one with bad knockoffs. But the Bills and Sabres ones I have gotten from them have been very good quality. Right down to the holographic "seal of authenticity" which I thought was a nice touch I can't imagine myself paying full price for those things, particularly when buying multiples for kids etc. But some people aren't upset that they paid too much, they don't like the idea of the NFL not getting their (several hundred percent) markup from people who buy the fakes. I sent a message to a seller there yesterday asking when the new Bills ones would be available. 10 minutes later I had a response saying he was not sure and was going to ask his manufacturer and get back to me. So I would imagine it won't be too long before they start appearing. I don't know anyone personally who has gotten a bad one in any sport or team. Like any online purchase though you should check out their rating at least, or better get a recommendation from someone on a good seller.
  22. I looked at dhgate this morning and couldn't tell if the ones claiming to be 2011 were the new style or not, the sleeves were so different.
  23. Hmmm. I wonder how long before they show up on the Chinese sites. I just looked and didn't see any that were very close to the actual.
