Probably what a lot of people said when the Bills named Fitz as a starter. Who knows.

EDIT: Removed because it was a stupid comment -
Maybin has 0.5 less sacks than our entire team
CodeMonkey replied to deep2evans's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You see, this is the kind of complete illogical bull **** that makes me crazy. Did Maybin draft himself that high? If not they why the hell should his draft position enter into this conversation? If you have a problem with Maybins draft selection (and what Bills fan wouldn't), blame the Bills front office. -
Which also makes it incredibly unpalatable for a new owner to even buy the team. If that were to happen the family would have to lower the price to the point someone would buy the team. In any event this renovation has little to no bearing on the Bills relocating or not, IMHO.

Yeah that's the only part that gives me gas too. -

Maybin, like everyone else, has strengths and weaknesses. The Bills could not figure out a way in their current scheme to maximize his strengths and minimize his weaknesses so they cut him. The Jets could figure out how to utilize him properly in their scheme and Maybin is showing signs of life. He will most likely improve since for all intents and purposes this is his first real season in the proper setting and without being turned into a LB etc. In short, not the player for the Bills but possibly a decent player or better for the Jets. Just one of those things. -

I think more like the Bills coaches suck for not getting Maybin to play that well for them maybe? -
They may have taken away the 3 point home field advantage, or at least part of it, because of being in Toronto.

What a concept huh, business owners paying for their own place of business .

Injuries piling up for Washington
CodeMonkey replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It will be interesting to see what kind of crowd is in Toronto Sunday. I believe this will be the first time the Bills have played a game there with a decent record and there is some optimism about the season. Will it be full Sunday, and with loud Bills fans or a generic crowd as it has been in the past? It should be a close game and having the crowd noise in their favor, like a real home game, could prove to be a deciding factor. -
I agree it is worth it to the Buffalo area, particularly if the rest of the state is footing the Bill. I do not agree it is worth it to the state. But no doubt the state will pay just like they did the Mets stadium referenced earlier. Whats a little more government waste huh.
-
Come on Doc, you disappoint me. Do you seriously think a high percentage or NYS residents are Bills fans? Or give a **** about the Bills? I would bet less than half of the adults in the Greater Buffalo area would call themselves Bills fans, much less the entire state. As far as the Mets thing, read my post up above about that. Or to quote my Mom when I was about 5 ... "do two wrongs make a right?". I agree and I also do not blame the Bills. If the state was !@#$ing stupid enough to pay for my place of business I'd let them too.
-
I agree completely! Everyone in NY should be pissed about that as well! I don't mean just the Bills stadium, all sports stadiums should be funded by the teams that get rich from them! Why should the billionaires and millionaires get bailed out by people barely making ends meet? It is insane. If I was to start a company in Buffalo that made widgets and would employ a couple thousand people and generate some corporate tax revenue, should I expect NYS to build me a building for my company then put 100 million into renovations to the building some years later? Of course not. Complete insanity.

A small percentage of people in Buffalo follow the Bills, or even football at all. A ridiculously small percentage of people in New York State are Bills fans or even give a **** about the Bills. Why should they fund Ralphs business venture? If it was only the county tax dollars you might be able to make a small case for what you are saying. State wide you are pissing into the wind. And it is, and will always be, my contention that Bills fans and only Bills fans should fund the team. And that includes any stadium renovations.

Idea: C.J. Spiller to Detroit for 2nd Rounder?
CodeMonkey replied to ShipUPride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes I can see where it would be. I mean someone with Spillers production and all. Not even worth a discussion. -
Depends upon how you want to look at it. The vast majority of people going to Bills games live in New York State. So if they did not spend money in the Buffalo area on those 8 or 9 days a year, they would still be spending it in New York and thus the sales tax would get to the state Bills game or no Bills game. So the true net impact of sales tax is negligible. Corporate tax, however much that is, should outweigh the net sales tax impact and would all go away if the Bills moved out of state.

For good reason.

CodeMonkey replied to ShipUPride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If that is true then I guess we are left to hope like hell that Gailey knows what he is doing. -
There is infinitely more too it than a supportive fan base and selling out the stadium. The NFL is a business that wants to maximize it's profits. Buffalo is a small market poor blue collar town and the NFL can make much more money having a team in a affluent large market. It's not fans, its economics. Even a white knight would have trouble keeping the team in Buffalo in my opinion, but only time will tell.

Lets hope. But if Gailey thought Spiller was truly a 7.1 YPC back he would be in and Freddy would be watching. -

CodeMonkey replied to ShipUPride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I understand your reasoning. But IMHO a 1st round RB should be able to step in immediately and we are into his 2nd season and can't find his way onto the field. He is awful short to be an effective WR at the NFL level in IMO as well. If Gailey wants to treat Spiller as a first round project then so be it, he knows far more than I ever will. But it just seems to me a luxury the Bills cannot afford. -
Or, that the Buffalo politicians want to get reelected. Or, that NYS legislature is even less intelligent that we give them credit for. You make the call.
-
You are 100% correct! The Bills should pay for any and all renovations and, of course, pass the cost along to Bills fans in the form of higher tickets prices etc. The percentage of Bills fans in the entire state is ridiculously small. There is NO REASON for non Bills fans to pay for renovations to the Bills stadium!!!
