The Bills used a first, and gave up the next years first and fourth to get a WR. What good is a stud WR without someone to throw the ball to him? If Whaley was willing to give up that much for Watkins it should be reasonable to assume he would be willing to give up at least that much for a viable QB. The question them becomes does Whaley think Bradford is a viable QB, particularly when compared to Manuel.

I tend to think that this is not true. I suspect players believe the media about as much as we do, and maybe even less. I have to believe the players talk to each other way more than they listen to the "experts" opinions about a team.

I couldn't possibly agree more with this entire statement. Cutting someone, be it a player, coach, GM ... anyone, without a better replacement in the wings is just plain stupid.

Except that if Manuel does not have a good season there will still be (people don't like the use of the word excuses here so) reasons for it such as his limited play in his first 2 seasons, the Marrone regime stunted his growth and so on. Not sure what the time limit for EJ Manuel is here, or even if there is one. Admitting a first round QB is a bust (and I'm not saying he is yet) is almost as hard for a fanbase as it is for the front office. Particularly when the player is as nice a guy as Manuel seems to be.

Agreed, it's a huge jump from college to the NFL for a QB. But he seems to be starting off better than a lot of them.

That's actually the kind of kid that would survive the NYC media. It's the A type personality egomaniacs that get wrapped up in all that circus garbage. Laid back people tend to let that **** roll off them. I watched some of the QB combine and from what I saw and heard I would not want him on the Jets. His mechanics and footwork looked good, far better than any other QB there and also far better than any QB currently on the Jets or Bills.

Still not sure how that translates to knowing what goes on in team meetings, film review sessions etc. which is where most of the coaching takes place. But hopefully this season will show what Manuel is, good bad or in between. And the excuses can stop.

No news here, makes perfect sense. With no 1st this draft there is no way in hell of them getting Winston or Mariota. Some or all of the others will be available when the Bills finally get on the clock.
